Yep, OW does nothing special. It's like no one ever played TF2, Enemy Territory and other Classic Team games.
Its doesn't matter what my skill level is in this game if i don't get to play with other people of or at least around the same skill level. I read the official Blizzard thread on how matching making works for Overwatch and the fact that it's doesn't take into account the player's level is a grave error (imo). A player's level may not be a direct indicator of skill, but it is an indicator of experience. A team with an average team level of 20, shouldn't be going against teams with an average of 80. That's the difference between a team that changes chars to counter the team their playing vs a team of DPS and a Mercy (Me).
That not going to be fun for anyone involved and that has been my experience playing ever since the free weekend ended.
Games of people getting steam rolled shouldn't be the normal. It's not going to teach me to be better, it just discouraging (and boring from the winning side.)
This was my conclusion as well after watching a bunch of streams.
I don't think any of us HATE U4.
I've played and enjoyed the whole series, but I understand what I'm getting, and it's not GOTY material. Nobody's saying U4 is garbage, there were just better games released in 2016
I don't think this is caused by matchmaking - it is caused by the game mechanics. Overwatch is, from a strategic point of view, far more complex than most shooters, and far more similar to MOBAs, where you absolutely get these very lopsided games, particularly at low ranks.
Less experienced and less skilled players are very hard to predict. They don't know the best way to play, nor which characters to use when, nor how to deal with other characters. It's not unusual to have a teammate that is completely useless for a round only to become brilliant the next. Hell, I still occasionally have games where I may as well not be there. They can be a useful teammate one round and a complete waste of space the next. I have, quite a few times now, experienced teams that seemed completely useless one round suddenly become incredibly effective the next. I recently played a Competitive Temple of Anubis game which stretched to six rounds because both teams were good at attacking and both teams were bad at defending. This is a bizarre case where we played six lopsided rounds because the teams were actually quite evenly matched.
Could Overwatch's matchmaking be better? I'm sure it could... but in a game like Overwatch it is incredibly hard to predict how good an individual will be, let alone a team, let alone a specific team against another specific team.
Lopsided games can be irritating. Horrible to be on the losing side, sometimes a bit boring to be on the winning side. Yet, I think they are a consequence of what makes Overwatch so exciting. Plus, for what it's worth, you will find that, as you play more, and as you get better, this issue decreases, and you will get more even matches more frequently.
Uncharted 4 is one of the best games of the generation, of course it deserves to win over a hero shooter.
Also, lol at the OP suggesting that Uncharted 2 and RDR shouldn't have won their respective years .
Amen.
I consider UC2 one of my favourite games of all time but UC4 did not reach those heights at any point. It's really, really good. It's just not TLOU or UC2 good. Better games this year for sure, including OW.
I lost interest in Overwatch pretty quickly in the beginning because there weren't enough different match types.
It was either payload or capture points and everything just felt the same for every match.
Have they added a lot of new modes since then? At least with BF1 you can switch between Rush, Conquest, TDM, Operations (which are awesome), and a couple other game types all with Hardcore versions as well.

Doom should win this.
Uncharted 4 deserves to win and it will win. It will win the most awards overall.
But what makes Overwatch GOTY worthy?
In what department does it excel except polish?
The best game doesn't always win. In fact it usually doesn't win.
There really should be "games" of the year....there's just too many good ones to declare just one as the "best".
But for the record, Overwatch gets my vote.
I also like how people who like to throw out Uncharted 4 from being a contender only talk about SP and not mention a word about MP.

I wonder if that says something about the MP.

In your opinion. Uncharted 4 was the best IMO and the critics seemed to agree. If Overwatch won I would not be disappointed, but claiming that Uncharted 4 is not deserving too is garbage
