Hearing all the talk about revolution being 'only' x percent faster than the Gamecube had me initially very disappointed. I want to be wowed by one of the big guns as much as the next guy, and I want to repeat the feeling I got the first time I saw pilotwings on the SNES.
But in some ways, I think having a console that doesn't directly compete with the other two (in terms of brute force power, or even approach to games) could bring with it a clarity of purpose that could benefit Nintendo.
I, like many others on this board, will most likely buy all three consoles anyway. And my Nintendo consoles nearly never get multiplatform games because its for Nintendo games.
If they are deliberately distancing themselves from the cock-fight between MS and Sony, then they are free to do something new, something different. They may fall flat on their face, but I'll still be playing pikmin 3, or something else that'll make me smile. At least I hope so.
