I think the current Chevy commercials have the worst ad campaign I've ever seen

Every month they have a new group of "real people, not actors" (by the way... are actors not real people) are going out in the wilderness, out on top of mountains, in strange warehouses and buildings and are so amazed by the presentation of Chevy cars that their jaws just drop and they are so blown away they are like "OMG! Chevy stepping up their game!"

It wasn't clever back when they put out their first ever commercial, but if they ever expected consumers to believe that random people were actually going to these oddball locations to see car presentations, I'm sure the general public has caught on by now. Not that they weren't paid to be in these commercials and say these things in the first place.

Oh, and the bearded host is one of the most smug looking SOBs I've ever seen.

Can't remember an ad campaign I've hated as much as this one. Yes, this is the mundane stuff I think about.

Do you hate it as much as I do? If not, what ad campaign do you currently hate?

Good question. Laziness most likely. Also sometimes during live sporting events is when I mainly see them.

I hate this weird trend of car commercials where they are basically saying "Look our cars aren't as crappy as you think they are". Chevy does it with "Real People" surprised the car they are briefed about is a Chevy and Buick also does it with their "That's not a Buick!". Like really? You're really going to do a commercial reminding people you aren't as bad as they thought you were?

I tend not to watch car ads, as I know which brand I am loyal to without seeing their ads as I have driven all their vehicles so I know which vehicles I will choose.

That being said, I can't wait to see tesla ads in the mass market, because holy hell I bet those will be obnoxious as shit to the average buyer.

Its really bullshit cause they don't bother having one of the actors like another brand. They all supposedly love the Chevy which is dumb as fuck if you are trying to sell it to an audience.

I mean people can be dumb enough to fall for it but to expect every single "real people" to like the car is ridiculous and thats where the ad fails massively.

Also watching the AD isn't by choice, it usually appears before movies start as part of the AD block before trailers.

it's not like A Clockwork Orange where your eyes are forcibly held open while you watch that garbage. i don't think anyone cares if you browse your phone during the ad time in theaters.

Not as bad as whichever ones had "people" answering questions about the truck.
"See this fuel efficient car here ? What kind of man do you think would drive this ?"
People : "some kind of like, a girly man, maybe kind of a wuss. A guy who owns a cat and eats avocado."
"What about this TRUCK ? What kind of man would drive this ?"
People with a straight face "A REAL man."
That stuff was embarrassing.

I think the worst ad is for All-State.

The one where the guy that gets into accidents spends 30 seconds completely mocking (and not good naturedly) sports fans.

"I was a complete loser until I became a sports fan!" (in essence). I mean, yeah, there is escapism is becoming a fan of a winning team, but so what, exactly?

And worst, it's constantly played during sports on TV.

Really, a lot of car insurance commercials are awful. They basically boil down to "It's okay to drive like an idiot and wreck your car!", even though basically that means higher payments for everyone.

The Buick and Chevy campaigns are both dreadful. The Chevy ads are just painfully stupid, with morons spouting non-statements. "Chevy won multiple awards across a random selection of categories? That's, like, crazy!"

I haven't seen Buick around in a bit, but I assume the campaign will be back in full force come March Madness. Maybe they're being plastered across pro sports still, I don't watch. The whole campaign revolves around smugly affluent people being insufferable in a variety of ways.

I love the implication actors aren't real people lol.

And they get paid for the commercial, making them actors, lol.

The only time I see ads is during football season, and yes, these are driving me nuts...

So they dug like a 100 foot hole in the ground, built an impossible multi-tier elevator platform in it, and then built a pointlessly massive airplane hangar around it, all to show four cars at a time to extremely small focus groups? I don't even... what?
