If Black Women Said The Stuff White Men Say

Wait what. Wow.

Though you brought up an interesting point about how apparently "lightskinned" is considered "prettier" than not. Is that still true? I know it's been an issue when I was growing up, but admittedly I have not paid much attention recently.

Even black people say that. Its ridiculous. In Guadeloupe, Haiti, martinique, the women rather be called 'a beautiful(female) nigger' then a beautiful black woman. As in black is 'dark' and ugly.

As for biracial babies, I guess its to say the best of both world, tan skin, green eyes, and big hair. And that looks exotic to them

You mean Dark brown, brown, light brown, and super light brown?

Unless I'm missing something out of the numerous people I've seen throughout my entire life, I've never seen any black person with a hair color that couldn't be classified (within reason) under a shade of brown.

Blonde would absolutely astonish me, since the only times I've ever seen that is in some sort of image where it was purposefully dyed by the person in question.

Look it up. There's Black people with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Nope, my hair isn't a shade of brown. It's ginger/auburn, got it from my late grandmother nicknamed Cherry.

And really, it's a simple Google search away from seeing all the proof you need.

Considering I've had black girls say those and very similar things to me, I dont see the point of this "parody".
I've been hit on by black girls on numerous occasions (always in Philly for some reason) and their pickup lines have almost always been absurd and racially-based, and actually very similar to the ones in the video.

Oh well, I don't mean this as a complaint post. I guess this is more of a humble brag.

Also, you mean like this? Because, apparently, that is what most Americans will look like by 2050, according to some.

I don't buy that because there are some sociological studies that say that America will be far more segregated by 2050 than now. This theory has been established by the current socioeconomic and ethnic divides in housing.

In fact you can see which populations live in which areas in the US, using this map. It's easy to see that certain areas are definitely segregated to one particular ethnicity.

And that woman reminds me a little bit of Alex King, who played River Song in Doctor Who.

I don't tell anyone what they can or can't do. My point was from a societal perspective. Rap and hiphop is quite the popular music genre and the overuse of the n-word is enabling to white people that think it's okay to say. Doesn't mean they're racist.

pretty sure white people thought it was okay to say the n-word long before rap music was invented

I think you guys are arguing different things. Light brown hair, which can often have a golden colour is sometimes considered blond and sometimes isn't.

Pictures don't really prove anything in this day and age because so many women either colour their hair or wear wigs/extensions.

on topic though, the parody was kind of funny but can just as easily be flipped around. There are many flippant/racist things that black girls say about white guys too.

How many times have I heard the "can't handle a strong black woman line." Could you imagine how ridiculous it would sound if other races started using that too?

If your "honest curiosity" makes another feel uncomfortable and can't be answered with out that person giving you a history lesson on why it's not okay to ask that then maybe you should rethink asking it.

i had no idea that asking a question such as "what does 'ashy' mean?" requires a history lesson along with the answer. explaining the unique physiology of african americans is uncomfortable and unfortunate for many reasons, but ignorance will exist until it doesn't. meaning you need to educate people. most of these 'fucked up' things white people say/ask to other ethnicities are harmless in intent, and usually revolve around physiological differences between them and the person they're speaking to. they seem them as different because they don't really know much about them. if they did, they wouldn't be asking it, things wouldn't be awkward, and they could work toward getting to know the person for who they are, as i mentioned earlier.

i really don't see what's so hard to understand about that. i've had someone ask me "what's wrong with your neck?" because i have an extremely large adam's apple. instead of jumping down their throat or having some running joke about that type of person, i just uncomfortably answered their question, explaining to them what it is, and why they don't have one. i don't think that person is going to ask anyone else about their adam's apple, and certainly won't phrase it in such an insensitive way.

the sad reality is that it's not always 100% the burden of the offender to set things straight. perpetuating jokes and refusing to have conversations unless they're either on your terms is incredibly unproductive, regardless of how entertaining it might be in the interim. i could write a book on how i think racial comedy is (currently) bad for the fight against prejudice, but this isn't the time or place.

What? No it has not. Brown looks like brown. I have never met anyone who thought light brown was blonde. You're thinking of dirty blonde~ which is a shade of blonde hair.

I assure you the black people with blonde hair blue eyes are not dying their hair or wearing contacts.

Jesus is it so hard to believe black people come in all shapes, sizes, etc?

Oh great here we go.

I'm sorry but we don't seem to be on the same page here. You actually don't seem to be on the same page with the rest of the thread.

Did you even try to look? There are numerous pictures and articles of African's with blonde hair or non-brown eyes.

I don't disagree with you're saying but it actually has nothing to do with the commentary in the video. Why bring it up?

Because I'm tired of seeing these videos and as a white guy in America I'd like to see progress in racial matters more than I'd like to see another funny video.

It's no more off topic than talking about what Caucasian means, or in a thread about Ugliest Celebrities to rant about it being wrong to judge people based on their looks.

It's extremely relevant because these videos don't do anything productive IMO even though their apparent aim is to illuminate something wrong that people do.

In the future, everybody is Rashida Jones.
"Wow, you're exotic looking. Was your dad a GI?"

I'm imagining people still saying this in 2050.

Progress is going to come from the ignorant starting to give a shit. I have seen many people try to explain race issues as nicely as possible. Eventually you have to realize your audience doesn't actually care. You can see it here on GAF all the time when women or minorities try to share their realities, and people are like "nuh uh."

Hope you're ready to live a life where you're the butt of many jokes because of the colour of your skin.

I think that is the why these videos work although they're preaching to choir for the most part. The thing is these are very wrong things people do and the video works like "well what if I did these wrong things back to you? How would you feel?" If someone asked me "what does getting 'ashy' mean?" I wouldn't feel uncomfortable and I would probably answer if it was asked honestly. It someone asked me something like are black woman's vaginas pink on the inside, genuine question or not, I would be repulsed by that question and not be inclined to take it or that person seriously.

Maybe this won't happen if you're willing to show some level of empathy toward what minorities are dealing with right now. If you recognize it sucks having things said or thought about you because of your skin color, how about realizing there are a great number of people out there suffering that right now in much worse ways than some of us may ever know?

Some traits carry on from generation and can sometime show up down the line without warning.
Some black people may have green eyes Or blond because one of their great great grand parent may have been white. And that gene could have been unseen for generations.

There is this short doc about a boy in either Salvador or Peru, where all of them have black hair/dark eyes, and this one kid has orange hair, and green eyes. There was this theory that Viking came along their coast.

Good point Liu Kang

Yeah that too. It's like if you're ignorant but aren't willing to learn how is the brunt of all this falls on me?

That's equivalent to fighting racism by being racist. As for people suffering, there are also a lot more suffering in way worse than people judging us on our skin colour. But the US is all kind of messed up and the last time I made fun of that country I got banned.

That's exactly what I've been trying to say: the ignorant take these videos as insult. They aren't going to listen if you keep insulting them.

What are you trying to fix? Ignorance AND racial issues? Or just racial issues? You gotta do one before the other. Fix ignorance and the rest should be easier to tackle. Refusing to acknowledge why the ignorance exists and got to deal with it gets us nowhere. You can't force people to be educated or sympathetic.

This video, like I said before is preaching to the choir. It's meant to be funny, were all in on the joke because we all already know that these fucked up things to say to people. It isn't intended to be the first line of assault on the war on ignorance and racism. The conversation the spawns from the video though is important though imo.

Should be called "If Black Women Said What They Think White Men Are Thinking And They Say To Other Black Women Around The World But It Isn't Actually Happening".

My bf told me that...and I didn't even answer back. What the hell does this even mean?! As if all biracial babies come lightskinned with curly hair. Or thats whats considered pretty for a black person.

'do black men all have bigger penises?', 'you're all so feisty', 'you dont sound ghetto', 'i love brown skin, its like chocolate, but you're not that dark, you know like blue black'

Shit I stand corrected, it is happening.
