If Tim Tebow wins the Super Bowl, mosques will burn and immigrants will be banished

According to an opinion piece in The Jewish Week.
Tim Tebow Problem

If Tebow wins the Super Bowl, against all odds, it will buoy his faithful, and emboldened faithful can do insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants. While America has become more inclusive since Jerry Falwell’s first political forays, a Tebow triumph could set those efforts back considerably.

Agree?
Does Tim Tebow really generate this much hate?
I find this repulsive.

So, the Jewish guy thinks Christians will attack Muslims if a certain sports team win?

Sounds like the build-up to a good joke but I'm struggling to craft a punchline.

It's sad when people take Tebow's name in vain and people use Tebow's teachings for the wrong reasons.

That dude is a nutjob.

He puts the same sterotype on evnagelical Christians that people like the stereotypes the ADL battles.

However, being an evangelical Christian myself, I hate most of us.

This is the worst... case of Tebow-trolling I've ever had the displeasure of witnessing.

Tim Tebow is by FAR the greatest quarterback in the NFL right now, if not the greatest pure athlete in the NFL, possibly all of sports. Tim Tebow is the future of not just the NFL, but of sport in general.

Amen.

Some people just like him because he's a nice humble hard-working guy. I don't give a fuck about religion and I like him, even though I call him names and wish him dead for 55 minutes every Sunday.

Plus Tebow winning the Superbowl any time soon is definitely not going to happen.

He's an inconsiderate jackass but it's made for some hilarious sports talk radio, so on balance I'd rather have him in the league.

Here's to hoping he's somehow involved in breaking up Lindsey Vonn's marriage for double plus amazing hysteria.

If he managed to do that while staying a virgin. Impressive.

lol win the super bowl

I don't think there's anything here to worry about just yet.

That's kind like saying:

'If Tim Tebow played a good game in the first three and a half quarters, he wouldn't have to rely on God to make people fumble for him'

Oh wait...

Why would his faithful burn mosques and banish imigrants if he wins?

I really don't get it. Whats the connection between quarterback fans and crazed mosque burning racists?

Wasn't the Superbowl a sports event where 2 teams play against each other? And 1 guy has a chance to win this on his own? Impressive

Tom Brady: Defender of mosques and immigrants.

In that context, I find this quote from her hilarious,

"He's proving them all wrong," Vonn said. "In a way, that's what I'm trying to do as well -- to be able to compete under any circumstance and keep fighting and doing my best every day. Just because I `Tebow,' doesn't mean I'm dating him. I said that if I won in Colorado, I would `Tebow' because I admire what he's doing.

The return of our Lord and Savior.

I changed the avatar on my FF football team to a Tebow gif and went from #6 in my league to #1 overall. If I win my final game this weekend (which I will) I will get $700.

Thank you based Tebow.

He's an American Football player (quarterback) who is an Evangelical Christian and prays all the time on the field. He's horrible at a lot of the stats they use to measure quarterback play (completions versus attempts, etc) but somehow he keeps on leading his team to come from behind wins. His team was 1-5 when they moved him into the starting lineup and now they're 8-6 and have won 6 games in a row.

People are split as to whether he is some sort of super-clutch player and leader, is getting fueled by Jesus' awesome power, or has just been really lucky.

Tebow's preacher said it was because of God.

Tim Tebow’s pastor, Wayne Hanson, says he knows why the Denver Broncos are 7-1 since installing Tebow as quarterback – it’s the player’s faith.

“It’s not luck,” Hanson said according to TMZ. “Luck isn’t winning six games in a row. It’s favor. God’s favor.”

Hanson, who runs the Summit Church in suburban Denver, said the Broncos wouldn’t be winning games if God hadn’t decided to reward Tebow’s religious beliefs.

Comments like these aren’t helping Tim Tebow. And they aren’t helping gain acceptance for the faith Tebow is willing to serve as public representative.

If anything, this is a moment when the pastor ought to take a lesson from his follower, who has consistently rejected such proclamations.

Tebow’s commitment to Evangelical Christianity is well known and his displays of that faith are often public. However, he’s never said God is deciding who wins football games, other than when joking about an opponent’s miscue.

He's also a pretty down to earth guy. It's all second hand but I know he is one of the very few star athletes who actually went to his classes in University. He also did some commendable missionary work overseas. From everything I hear heard was an all around good guy.

But yeah he is basically what would happen if Jesus was reincarnated into the body of a real life HULK.

And if what his victories did to my college town are any indication of the future you motherfuckers should be scared. This ain't no Y2K shit is gonna get real.

I hope when they lose he still praises god. "Well everything was going great till Jesus made me fumble".

He praises God when he loses..

And his pastor is an ass.

So to an ignorant Englishman... What the fuck is this all about?

As a fellow Englishman who has been trying to follow the NFL for the last 2 years I hope I can help.

Tebow was a decent quarterback for a college down in Florida. He had a fanatical support base down there and generally people seem to have a marmite-esque opinion of him; either love or hate. However the college game is different to that in the NFL and many pundits said his skills would not equate to the professional level (eg. His throwing motion is not what is desired of a NFL calibre QB). Despite that he was taken in the first round of the NFL draft in 2010 by the Denver Broncos, to the bemusement of many as it was clear he wasn't ready. He played a couple of times during a game last year but nothing spectacular of note.

Fast forward to this season. The Broncos fired the coach who picked Tebow in the Draft. They hired someone else who chose another quarterback to start games in front of him. This QB sucked. The Broncos won 1 and lost 4 of their first 5 games and when things wern't seemingly getting any better at half way through their 6th game Tebow was named the starter.

They lost that game to the Chargers but since then the Broncos, with Tebow at QB, have made a series of miraculous comebacks late in the game to win them.

They beat the Raiders.
The Chiefs.
They beat the Jets with 6 minutes left on the clock.
They beat the Chargers in overtime.
They beat the Vikings in overtime.
Last Sunday they were losing 10-0 to the Bears with less than 3 minutes left. They managed to score 10 points in those last few minutes and also win in overtime. Again.

It has become the standard that Denver will generally be losing up until the 3rd quarter and then Tebow will lead them to a game winning/tieing drive in the 4th quarter.

Add to that the fact that Tebow has very deep Christian faith values you get all the "It's a miracle" "I believe" type headlines and comments being made.

In real football terms, every fourth quarter in a Broncos game it's half time in Istanbul 2005. Every week. Tebow = Hamann.

Tebow has really just been lucky, and the benefactor of playing shit ass teams. Other then the jets (and they are not great) the teams he's played are complete crap.

If he can beat the pats then he might be on to something, but I find it unlikely. He needs to be able to throw the ball to beat Brady.

Decent?

He is one of the greatest college players of all time, sure that does mean jack shit in the NFL but to call him decent is just wrong.

That Denver D is much superior to the NE D, so that might be the game changer which doesn't put all the pressure on Tebow.
