The campaign, meanwhile, is perhaps Rock Band 4’s most interesting reach in the gameplay design department. It is, effectively, a Rock Band RPG. “We’re just working really hard at making everything feel like you are living this story, feeling what it’s like to be a musician playing gigs, playing shows,” said Rock Band 4 designer Alli Thresher. “We want you to step up to the mic and interact with them, tell jokes, have them respond to your jokes, you know? Everything’s about all the stuff that all of us might have experienced, and want to share it with the people playing the game.”

Rock Band 4 embraces a much more “live” element from top to bottom. Its Gigs feature is a light way to engage with your bandmates in-game and between songs; authored fills keep drummers on their toes while giving the impression that this is their version of a given song. Vocal improv is a singer-centric feature that lets talented folks with impressive pipes to lend their voice to a song in a way an exhausted or excited live performer might

the ability to transfer all my purchased rock band 1-3 songs from 360 to XB1 has me sold day 1
Just keep your expectations in check. I imagine the songs will transfer as they're made available, rather than all at once on day 1. Granted that's just me speculating, so I could be totally wrong.

I think you are correct, because I slightly remember watching a video (probably a Harmonix live stream) where they mentioned they were not looking forward to manually editing each song.

Yeah, they specifically said this in the FAQ, actually. Still, it's a very cool feature and has me sold day 1 as well. As long as most of them are made available eventually I'm fine with it.

I'm sad that my 360 -> PS4 switch means that I'm not going to be able to transfer my ~$300 worth of DLC (I was obsessed), but still pumped for this.

This is our reason to finally own a xbox one! I hope they bundle it, I doubt it though since there is already going to be a halo 5 bundle around that time.

I already own both consoles, but if I didn't, it would be cheaper for me to go buy a Xbox One than rebuy my DLC, Even if it wasn't though, i'd probably buy a Xbox for RB4 anyways... Sony europe are awful at DLC, all the Rock Band 3 DLC released this year still aren't on the store

Can't wait. The song lyrics that go by look like they are for "Rize of the Fenix" by Tenacious D, which is a DLC song already available. :(

I hope they talk about instrument compatibility. Maybe I can use my 360 GH-Guitar on my PS4 with some adapter.

I was a Guitar Hero-guy last gen so i'll start from scratch here. Would be cool if you could import the RB 1-3 songs for a fee without buying the old games.

True, but I'm not the kind of person to double dip unless it's a good deal. I'll probably just limit my DLC purchases for things I didn't buy previously (unless I forget, which is very possible based on my list). My 360 still works, so if I'm feeling the need to play all of Rust In Peace, I just need to set it up.

Oh man I can't wait! Please don't fuck this up Harmonix like the disappointing announcement GH:L was. I have very high hopes for this game.

Also, it looks like Awesomeness Detection was turned into an actual gameplay element: "Stage Presence" /s

Should also be noted that Edge's teaser for this month was the six lines of a guitar. They've had two Rock Band covers in the past so I'm guessing it is a big blow out for the game. Issue drops mid-late next week.
Wow, I can't believe I forgot all about this. Two new Harmonix games in one year! :D
Don't forget their FPS Chroma

I'm so very excited for this game. really interesting to see what they're going with

also cant wait for the endless fucking muse requests to poison every topic

I saw them post about this earlier on Facebook. I can't fucking wait. My friends and I played so much Rock Band together. All six games. Full band, plus harmonies in the games with it, all of the time. Sometimes people would double up on an instrument and vocals if not everyone showed up. It was always awesome and a lot of fun.
I moved away, so I don't get to play with them anymore, but I do still enjoy playing the games on my own every once in a while. I've got like 855 songs in my Rock Band 3 playlist on Xbox 360...and the transfer thing makes me really glad that I decided to get an Xbox One first. Hah. It also secured my younger brother's purchase of one in the near future (he only has a SNES, N64, and Xbox 360 right now). He didn't move, so he still gets to party with everyone.

And since Muse was mentioned...I would actually like to see more songs show up, but when that song request thing popped up, I voted for Agent Orange songs. I don't know what my brother requested, but I know that he probably spent hours on it. Hah.

I hope the setlist doesn't end up too family friendly, Guitar Hero seems to be moving that way.

I doubt it's going to dedicate a big chunk of the setlist to Nuclear Blast Records or anything like that, but I'm not expecting them to stray that much away from how they handled it in previous games, with a little something for everyone. Their DLC will fill any holes hardcore players perceive there to be, like it always has.

I want the option to use the explicit versions of songs personally. If I'm buying songs for $2-$3 I want there to be a choice for the original cut of a song. I want my S's, F's and A's gosh darn it!

I don't think that's possible because the ESRB doesn't allow DLC to be rated higher than the game it is for. Maybe if they released an alternate M version of the game, but that will never happen because it's a waste of money.
