IGN Infected review

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.

7.6

8.0 Presentation
I'm Dreaming of a Red Christmas ... wait, it's no dream!
8.5 Graphics
A mess of effects and carnage let you feel the warmth of the season as hell erupts on the streets.
8.5 Sound
Death metal goes well with undead slaughtering. Plus, the voice interjections and cutscenes are funny as hell.
7.0 Gameplay
Fire, fire, fire, splat! Fun the first time, fun the 1,000th time, but there will be many, many more times after that.
7.0 Lasting Appeal
The online play isn't as meaty as it could have been, but most games don't have net play at all. Multiplayer can be a blast, especially when you're working to "Infect the World."
7.6 OVERALL

They say online isn't as fun as it could've been. Not bad, but I think Planet Moon should rethink being an exclusive developer to the PSP.

Unfortunately, I don't think Planet Moon is lighting up the charts anywhere they go recently.

It seems really strange that, even under time constraints, the best they could do for online deathmatch was 2 players.

1up isn't over rating PSP games, IGN is just under rating most PSP games.

Want proof, here's proof:

7.0 Gameplay
Fire, fire, fire, splat! Fun the first time, fun the 1,000th time, but there will be many, many more times after that.

Serious Sam 2 PC
IGN score- 8.2

8.5 Gameplay
Fans of old school shooters will definitely find the challenge and excitement level are very high here.

No one in existance could argue that Serious Sam is NOT about Fire, fire, fire, splat! gameplay. So why is it Ok for Serious Sam and not Infected?

Also, the low Gameplay score is not about bad controls on the PSP either, IGN praised the simple and intuitive controls for Infected.

Thank you.

And what else have we overrated on PSP?

Can't win with you fuckers. It's either 7up.com or "it's a ziff-davis thing." :)

Che, did you play Infected? If so, did you think it was a buy or a rent?

I do get the impression that IGN PSP seems to go out of their way to specifically go against the grain of the "IGN overrates" stigma, but I'm not so sure they're take on this game is really that far off base when it doesn't manage to do better than a 2-player deathmatch for infrastructure mode. And the shameless Slipknot peddling.

Anyone actually pick this game up? Any impressions?

You can win with me anytime, baby. Oh wait, you're not Jeremy Parish. J/K
Seriously, 1UP for the Muthafuckin' win!!!!
P.S. Che, if you read this, please tell me whether or not XBN is coming back.
P.S.S. Pretty please!!

Sorry 7up.com, you've been out-seven'd by the other guys on this one:

http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/infected/review.html

The Good: Fast-paced zombie-killing action; innovative and ambitious online component; solid frame rate.

The Bad: Humor is hit-and-miss; single-player game is far too short; multiplayer game is just no fun.

7.2

They even pay tribute to Jack Thomson by calling it a "zombie murder simulation" :lol

Because Serious Sam had you moving in and out of structures, and had creatures leaping from on high or coming up from nowhere. It had bosses. Infected could have been played top-down, it's so simple. Fun, but so very simple. And no bosses.
