IGN King Kong DS review

hehe you guys thought EA was grabbing the "worse graphics of the year" award away with NFS DS ? no way. Us Ubi wants ALL the awards. :lol

What strikes me about that review is that he says he wants to do anything he can to keep us away from the game, and does an excellent job of just hamming up the pure SHITness of the title, and still gives it a 3. I know plenty of bitching about IGN's review scale has been done... but ugh.

i'm guessing the game automatically gets at least a 2 if the system powers on when you put the cartridge in

Wow, it's like the DS has both the best and worst holiday line-ups.

Sonic Riders looks awesome for a DS game!

That's the problem though. Movie reviews don't automatically get one or a half star if the reel actually has the film printed on it and plays correctly for the 100 minutes. Or if you get through the whole movie without crew members showing up in the shot.

Bad movies that are technically sound can and do still get 0 stars.

So why can't really fucking horrible games get <1 scores, even if it doesn't contain gamebreaking "glitches" per se...

that's because game critics have ridiculous 100 point scales or some such

WTF??!! I see a goatse in the bottom screen! :lol

I've been playing this son of a bitch off and on for a couple days, and I can feel the reviewer's pain...

The game can be finished in probably two hours, total.

However, thanks to the dull combat, tedious levels, ugly graphics, annoying camera, and other miscellaneous bugs, each level feels like it takes hours to complete. I have to shut the system off every couple levels and take a break because I end up feeling so spent and irritated. I experienced a twinge of entertainment the first time I played as Kong, but that part of the game quickly turned tedious too. For sure, I will finish it sometime today, but only because I have to.

A plain port of the original Doom, with the characters replaced with the Kong cast, would have turned out at least twice as good as this vomitous crap.

The demo of Metroid Prime First Hunt is far superior to this... this... ugh... and it came free with the system a year ago.

*seethe seethe*

oh my god you are right.

As an aside why do western developers keep wasting their time releasing these shitty games on ds?

Titles like this hurt your company reputation far more than no games at all. Nintendo needs to stop putting their so-called "Seal of Quality" on crap like this. Reject a game once in a while. Between this, the half-assed ports of the Tom Clancy titles and the "exclusive" Charlie's Angels, Ubisoft is shitting in Nintendo's toybox and calling it Christmas.

I think Nintendo would like to reject games like this, the problem is the publishers would feel slighted, so its basically politics.

Could'a been worse ... the framerate could have been half of what it was. Or it could have had the GBA game's music. Or, something. I can't think of much else.
