Despite the aforementioned concerns, Soulcalibur IV is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it, especially -- as I said before -- to fans of the series. The game runs well, looks beautiful, sports great music and obviously has enjoyable combat. The PS3 and 360 versions are just about identical (barring the differing guest characters), though I felt that the optional install on the PS3 made things feel even quicker and more polished. In the end, both are worthy members of a long- standing series and you won't be disappointed with the purchase

Finally an optional install again.

edit: hate to say it, but I probably won't buy this on account of the ridiculous Ivy/etc. cleavage. The character design is really ridiculous in that respect.

Glad to hear it did well though I have absolutely no interest in actually playing the game. I never really was any good at fighting games. I'm one of those people who needs a goals and missions in his games, :lol .

Your mission is simple. Beat the living shit out of others.

So have we determined that this doesn't suck as bad as Soul Calibur III?

The reviewer* "loved" the character designs. :lol How many times did GAF puke over the screenshots?

Anyway, sounds good. Can't wait to give Namco my money for this one.

*Ryan Clements, apparently.

you can change her costume...just sayin.

good to hear online is in, wasnt shane saying that all of their builds were completely missing it and speculating that it might be cut?

How is the online?

He says it's okay, but how would he know when there's only like five people online before the game releases?

IGN said:
I played numerous online matches on both the PS3 and 360 and both ran very well, with only a few extremely brief moments of lag. Unfortunately, I can't say for sure how the game will perform once everyone jumps on the network with varying connection speeds, but what I saw handled admirably.

Can I make hers and Taki's breasts smaller? As far as I've seen, Talim is the only normally proportioned female character in the game. Thank god, because she's usually my main.

Don't worry you can use edit character mode to cover those dirty whores up!

Here we have Ivy and Cassandras alt costumes:

The cellphone is one of the many customizable accessories you can acquire in the in game store!

Wha?

Don't you mean you will buy it because of the ridiculous Ivy/etc cleavage? :lol

Anyways it looks like I'll have to buy this. As soon as my bank account recovers from the new monitor I just bought...

in 2 days ill see ivy's tits n ass on my hdtv.

*gets tissues*

joke offcourse.
Or am i? DUN DUN DUNNNN

I absolutely love Soul Calibur II and feel taht it's one of the most enjoyable fighting games ever made... however Soul Calibur III was awful, imo. They decided that bringing all the characters closer together in terms of Strength/speed was a good idea, and everything just felt wrong and off.

Is SCIV a return to form? Seriously, if it is I'll buy it day 1.

SCIII got good reviews to... which I why I don't feel like I can trust reviews on this one.

my gf has boobs that big, stop complaining!

Guys, EGM said Vader was lame right?

Here they say Vader is the best of all three Star Wars characters, and that Yoda is "broken". What a difference huh?

Maybe Milky sucks ass at SC so he wants a character that is impossible to throw, even if two Yodas are playing against each other.

Ivy's cleavage pisses me off in the sense that it's impossible to have THAT MUCH cleavage and not show some nipple. Unless her breasts are deformed and the nips located to the side or something...

...either way, I'll be damned if that's a reason not to buy a game. lol

Lastly, when it comes to Online:
So far it's been pretty shit.

indeed.. ridiculous... repulsive even. what the hell were they thinking.. i'm not gonna stare at that the whole time.

IGN really needs to hire people who can write better than the average high school kid.

And I need to remind myself to stop reading IGN reviews.

I'll let you in on a little hint. "Customizations". Cover the shit up you don't want to see.

I'm trying to conceive of a thread where people are telling other people how to censor large breasted women in a video game

I'm failing, because there's no way such a thread could exist on the internets

Yes, you can create a custom character that plays exactly like Taki/Ivy and even make them male with 500 pounds of armor on.

Seriously though, getting pissed about Character design when the gameplay is amazing? That's like the most arbitrary thing I've ever heard. Do breasts scare you or something?

I'm not sure why I said it either. :lol The options there. I don't get why it would stop someone from purchasing a game that they may be interested in. It's the idea that bothers me I guess. You can do what you want but still...

Quick, call the Boob police. Potential purchase averted due to inflated mammories...

You can also edit every standard character's second costume, removing or adding any article of clothing save undergarments. If the reports I've read on CaliburForum are accurate, any Create-a-Soul item can be used. The potential variety is staggering. Apparently, every piece of the cast's second costumes is also available for custom characters (whose physique can be changed, as most of us already know). Theoretically, this would allow players to create, say, a less generously endowed Ivy. I don't sympathize with anyone who would want to. She looks much better in-game

than in the repulsive early render

anyway.

By the way, LAUGHTREY, your avatar--The Joker himself Jokerized... mind imploding in 3, 2, 1....

I like it. Really, I do.

That is the main reason I don't want it either.

Is it really that surprising? I'd be downright embarrassed to have my family see this game. Not only that, but it's pretty damn degrading to women.

Just like fat princess, am i right?

Fat Princess is not setting a stereotype.

There's a difference between "making a princess fat through comical means for the premise of the game" and "we don't want women in our games unless they are over endowed sex objects".

You can easily tone down the offense without changing anything of Soul Calibur's premise or gameplay whatsoever. There's no reason for the design to be as it is.

You can't actually edit the physique or voice of the main characters in create a character, you can however change their hair and every piece of equipment on their 2P model. IE you cant put Takis ninja suit on Ivy, you can't put Nightmares helmet on Sigfreid.

You can however, select the "create a custom character" option, choose a female and Ivy's move set, and make a A cup femme fatal in full armor. She won't have Ivy's voice or face, but it's as close as you can get.

In that regard, I'm a little tiny bit disappointed in the customization. You can't create a character based on any of the bonus characters, Apprentice Algol and Yoda included. The most you can customize on the main characters in their default costumes is their weapon.

Every garmet on their secondary is selectable for create a character though. But then I don't see why you would use the 2P model when you can just create one of your own.

I assume they could have ugly girls? But then again, the only ugly male characters are Voldo and Cervantes.

Seriously though, it's a video game and you obviously know the difference between real life and fiction. I doubt someone in a skin tight ninja suit battling Yoda on a Star destroyer is really meant to offend or degrade anyone. Sex sells, get used to it.

I never said they had to be ugly. Having them portrayed as painfully obvious sex objects is just the kind of thing that prevents video games to ever be taken seriously.

And regardless of my moral beliefs, it doesn't change the fact that it would be embarrassing to have my family see the characters in the game.

Ivy used to be my favourite character along with cervantes... I really hope they don't sex cervantes up next time <_< .

The only thing that would make me shrink the breasts down is simply because they look ridiculous. This is how Ivy looked in SC1:

It's like she's had a boob job with the release of each game. :lol
