IGN talks 360 controller

Controller looks very nice. My only concern is with the triggers. I'm wondering if there's sufficient travel so that they will be as useful in racing games as the Duke.

the black and white buttons are gone, so I am a happy man, thats all that needed to be changed for me, everything else(wireless, lighting numbers, live headset stuff) is just icing on the cake.

and i guess the Xbox used 360 because Xbox 2 would look "behind" to the PS 3 , so they wanted to incorporate the number 3 in their products name... Sony could shake things up if they just call their system PS 4 or something... Gates would have a fit.

My only problem with the current XBox controller has always been the white and black buttons. They are a massive pain in the ass. Kudos for fixing that.

Also, wireless is awesome. Too bad the headset for live isn't wireless, but plugs into the controller. Bluetooth would have been fantastic, but I'm hearing the other consoles might have it.

Gamespot, in their big XBOX 360 article confirmed the wireless controller as the pack in standard, included WITH batteries. And it recharges by plugging it into one of the USB ports.

Go read the big ass article at Gamespot.

So anyone know if batteries will be included or not?

People bitching about battery life on the controller = owned. Then again, the 2nd generation Logitech wireless pad gets something like 800 hours of life on a single charge WITHOUT rumble and something between 50-75 hours of life with rumble.

I want rumble. I don't want batteries. I don't sit far from the TV. Gimme my fuckin wired controller thank you very much.

Actually, I'm glad that it's changing to wireless. As long as it's responsive and battery life is pretty bearable. I try to sit as far as I can from my 60 inch TV, and my damn line is too short, people tripping over the shit and all, about freaking time.

Im still not seeing where you people are getting wireless headset from. Dont get me wrong, I REALLY want a wireless headset... at this point less wires = less clutter = less annoyance = I can concentrate on playing the game and not the fucking wires....

but I dont see mention of wireless headsets anywhere, it just says that the Xbox Live communicator is built into the controller itsels instead of needing the thing that goes into the memory card slot.

What makes you say that? Dual Shock 2's L/R buttons are analog without being "triggers".

I just pray this and the PS3 have affordable HDMI cables. If you buy online they're like $30, but places like Radio Shack want $100 for HDMI cables. Here's hoping MS/Sony don't gouge.

well, mainly this...

Where have those beloved white and black buttons gone? Fear not, brave new Xbox 360 gamer. They've just been replaced by more conveniently placed left and right buttons (LB and RB) right above the triggers. They're digital buttons. That is, they simply click when pressed—unlike, say, the analog input of the left or right triggers, which allow variable amounts of pressure to control, used as gas pedals or weapon triggers in-game. "Developers are real keen to develop with the [shoulder buttons]," Ashley confirmed.
