IGN: ZombiU Video Preview

Only owned one Nintendo console in my life, the Gamecube and I chugged that in the bin 3 months later. I just ordered a Wii U premium purely because of this game.

If I don't like it, I'm pretty much screwed as there's nothing else I want on the Wii U :P

That's a lot of money for one game that hasn't been reviewed. You must have money to blow.

If you knew my spending habits on gaming equipment you'd be shocked.

Lucky. I have to be very selective.

But, in your favour, ZombiU is one of the few games I'm buying new this holiday. I think people will be surprised by the sales and reception of ZombiU.

Indeed, it looks amazing and I'm sure it'll be worth the money - I have a gut feeling.

A the beggining it should had said "Shit, Ive just been here"

This gif is awesome. Graphics won't win any award, yet the level of detail is impressive. And it looks far more immersive than most FPS I've played, it could be the camera or the atmosphere, I don't know.

game sounds very interesting and comes from a studio with pedigree. could be good

all in all one of the more impressive launch titles

Or both! Seriously, I don't think I'm even going to touch NSMB U and keep my focus on ZombiU.

The common usage of the word "next-gen" refers to a leap in graphical fidelity, yes. Of course, if you literally just define "next-gen" as "the order of console cycles," then of course WiiU would be next-gen, but in terms of its horsepower, it's current-gen. But again, this is fine -- I'll never understand why Nintendo fans get bent out of shape over this. Nobody's saying WiiU is worthless because it's on par with the 360 and PS3. I'm just happy to see Nintendo games finally in HD -- that's more than enough for me.

Well people tend to get annoyed when false hoods are claimed as fact. Read up on the technology in current gen consoles and then revisit the phrases "on par" and "current-gen technology". You can argue WiiU isn't a generation ahead of current consoles if you like, but its certainly newer technology and more powerful.

Does this game has a singleplayer story mode? or is just multiplayer? do not have a clue about it but the gif looks nice. Would be interested if it has a SOLID singleplayer story.

How is it possible that this game keeps getting better every time I look at it? My hype rarely rises after first impressions, but this game just looks incredible now after months of my thinking it simply looked good. Even that full E3 demo that was posted looked great.

Also, didn't Nintendo's Mario Club team debug? Maybe that is a dealbreaker for porting. Usually when Nintendo touches a project, it remains exclusive.

I like the huge amount of litter and stuff lying around, makes the scenery feel more alive. I hope there is physical interaction with the most of it.

The ability to open, close, and board up doors puts if a notch above a lot of FPS.

You can also write on walls for other games who had the game to see. It's pretty neat.

As far as physics and objects go, I don't know. I'm not sure if you can blow out lights or shoot bottles or tables and get reactions. That is yet to be seen.

Don't comments like these tantamount to port begging? It's called ZombieU for a reason.

I'm really getting tired of those type of post as well. It's why I wish the Wii U thread was still around. Tired of going into Wii U game threads just to see bashing and trolling. Thankfully it's been kept to a minimum but still annoying.

On the latest video. I sort of wish I didn't watch but it's interesting that they start you off like that.

Yup. Same here. It's noting but a drive by trolling in my opinion. Get the hell over it I say. It's on Wii U. If you want to play it then get a fucking WII U.

POST 475:
Heh - this is actually the game that got me to pre-order a Wii U.
And I havent spent significant time gaming on a Nintendo console since the
N64.

I am going to play on it on a Wii U - and if it turns out be really good I'd like to play on it a system with better graphics capability down the road.

The intro video looks damn impressive, but then when you watch the next link, it doesn't have all of those cool lighting and rain/lens details like in the intro video. =\

Game looks fun as hell to play, though.

Well, the game is really tied to the Wii U gamepad and its subscreen. So much so that if it was ported to anything else it really wouldn't be the same game or content ;)

Those effects pop up throughout gameplay. We've seen them in previous playthrough videos, so no worries there.

That really doesn't help you. It is good though that you say you will indeed be playing it.

Man... The atmosphere in those two videos is outstanding. Game looks much better there than I've seen it in other sources. Been so long since I've seen a compelling survivor horror game. Really wishing I had the funds to get Wii U now :/

Well start saving up. Also make sure you're playing the BK WII U game too if you are in the US. You get one free entry every day. Every time you play it's a chance to win a standard edition Wii U.

Ah nice... I'll have to check that BK thread cause funds are in short supply right now due to a family crisis :l
Wonder if anyone has won...

They also have a multiplayer preview as well. Came out on the 25th. Not sure if it was posted already.

Edit: Looking at this footage reminds me that this game will have aim assist. I've been playing FPS on the PC and on the Wii for some time now and I forgot that's included with dual analog shooters. For those with experience how generous does it seem based on the multiplayer modes?

The first two things are nothing to write home about imo. The writings is just pre-determined stuff like Demon's Souls. Would be cool if they had included a decal system like in L4D, nothing beats spamming annoying pictures ;-p.

And I hope there is physical interaction, at least with most of the stuff. Usually gaming worlds feel really empty so this is a step in the right direction.

Since ZombiU is releasing on November 13th, wouldn't that suggest that we could possibly get reviews for this around that time (5 days before the actual WiiU launch)?

I hope and I hope that people who Pre-ordered from Newegg/Amazon/Best Buy get them on/before launch day.

Should. Gamestop says November 13th will be day to get it from them. Ubisoft commented on the 13th being streetdate as well saying something along the lines of to avoid confusion they are leaving it the 13th and not shifting it to 18th

This is one of those games that look really awesome, but still has too many question marks surrounding it for me to just take a chance and pre-ordering. Eagerly awaiting more in-depth previews, longer bits of gameplay footage and of course the first reviews.

How's the story? Controls? Levelling system? How linear it is? If it's 15-20 hours long, is it varied enough to keep it interesting all the way?
