90 - Divinity: Original Sin

WRONG. Too low on the list. Already off to a bad start. You know nothing, IGN. You sicken me, you fucks, you. Absolutely disgusting.

I jest, but still, they're probably going to name a lame ass RPG higher than Divinity like some Bethesda RPG and THEN it will be absolutely disgusting.

EDIT: Wait a minute...

89 - Dragon Age: Inquistion

DIS-GUSTING.

I wonder if Persona 5 and NieR: Automata will make the cut.

Bet Witcher 3 is going to be in the Top 10 or something...

I'm willing to bet The Witcher 3 and at least one (post 2002) Bethesda RPG are in the top 10.

I'm not such a big fan of the genre any more, but as long as Wild Arms gets a look in I'll be pretty happy. Also, I wonder if Cosmic Star Heroine will feature. That's very recent so it may get overlooked.

Skyrim will be in the Top 10, accept it now
Top 3, as it should be.

Question is, will we see Dungeon Master and some other still awesome Amiga-era RPGs or is this list just for the younger crowd?
Maybe we'll see Legend of Grimrock instead?

Inerested to see where they put breath of fire 3, chrono trigger, Panzer dragoon saga, Shining force 3s1-3 and Grandia. In some order or another that'd probably be my top five.

These whiny threads are always funny to me. Like there's a definitive objective list.
If the IGN staff doesn't like a popular game for whatever reason, they shouldn't list it higher because of it's popularity. It's just the opinion of a few people and these lists are great for people wanting to know the genre better.

Considering the list so far, I'll be surprised if it isn't number 1.

Pretty sure #1 will either be:

- Final Fantasy VI
- Chrono Trigger
- Planescape: Torment
- Baldur's Gate II

I mean, it's just a list of 100 RPGs IGN likes, obviously everyone's list is gonna vary wildly.

That said, Inquisition doesn't belong on any best of list, especially not above some of those games they listed. You're gonna put a mediocre, boring, soulless game like that above the pioneer of the MMORPG? Give me a fucking break.

The only Bethesda RPG that deserves a top 10 spot is Morrowind.

I adore them all, and I'm one of the few people that seem to realize the effort Bethesda put into to developing mod tools. It's not like they flip a switch to allow that to happen, or every RPG dev would do so. They put a monumental amount of effort into producing the tools that will allow their games to be tweaked, customized, overhauled, to suit almost any player's needs, and given that level of effort they put in (especially now that mods are available for all players regardless of platform) it's impossible to dismiss mods from a fair analysis of the games imo. Mods are one of the biggest features of Bethesda RPGs.

It's why I can install an 11 year old RPG today and have it look like this:

Morrowind is certainly my favourite TES game for the lore building and the narrative. But I can't deny Skyrim's cultural impact makes it the most likely contender for a top ten spot of the series.
