I'm disappointed in MS this year and I'm getting a PS5.... I hope.

Dropping one console with no games for another one with no games.

Sell the XSX, problem solved.
it's a series S so no dice, also even if i could i wouldn't want to since a lot of my library is on there. You have no idea how expensive it'd be to rebuy like 2 years worth of games, im already doing so for steam and that shits expensive as fuck

Somewhat more serious note: if you're frustrated at the lack of any meaningful big 1P games from MS studios manifested the past 2-3 years outside of yet more Forza/Gears/Halo, and simulators & RTS games aren't your bag, I completely understand. The blind-sided delay of both RedFall and Starfield, then the (IMO) mediocre Starfield showcase (or at least, disappointing) did nothing but reinforce all the fears and trolling towards the brand's 1P capabilities since the end of XBO generation. People are also more concerned now as to how the Bethesda & ABK teams will operate quality-wise under Microsoft's ownership, and it's MS's fault for those doubts looking at how Rare & 343i (ESPECIALLY 343i) have basically fallen off over the years.

And before anyone brings up Sea of Thieves; yes it's a good game. But Rare isn't really on the shortlist of most ambitious or top-quality devs in the industry anymore, are they? Western or Japanese-wise; they're far down from their heights of the SNES and N64 eras. Meanwhile Insomniac, a dev that's been around since the PS1 days, has only gotten better and are now at the top of their game, and one of the best studios in the industry. Really puts it into perspective.

That all said, even if you want to get a PS5 right now, even if you sell your Series X to do it, if you don't fancy gaming on PC I would consider picking a Series X back up again maybe a year or two down the line. By then Starfield, RedFall, Forza reboot, and likely Avowed & Hellblade II will be available at that point. Those games should be at least worth trying out, they could legitimately be amazing. But it's still a waiting game, all things considered, for a gamble on quality that may or may not live up to expectations.

Whereas you're assured a good deal of quality when it comes to Sony's IP and studios, as well as variety covering most of the bases. Let alone the 3P exclusives of big IP they get as well. So it is a safer bet overall, I just wouldn't 100% rule out having a Series X or S at some point in a couple years if I were you, either.

What a weird post, do you need validation before buying a console?

It's almost as weird as that other thread where OP was basically apologizing for liking Microsoft.

Also good luck sustaining a PS5 if you are low on money and (from my understanding) too young to actually earn money.

Yeah, just comparing the library of games between the two, it isn't even a contest.

If you can't manage to have all consoles, Xbox is the one to pass on, in my opinion. Nintendo has been hitting on all cylindes lately and PlayStation has pretty much always had the best overall library since it entered the industry with the PS1.

I was an Xbox fanboy once, then I bought a PS2 for GT3 and the rest is history
This is funny .. in my mind this happened at the time of the Xbox (Nov 2001) and gt3 ( July 2001 ) releases. You were a fanboy for what a whole possibly 2-3 days? 😂

ok but that last sentence was fucking worth something
can i at least have links? everything on amazon says "available by invitation" or some bullshit.

OP, don't switch from being and Xbox fanboy to a Sony fanboy. Switch to being a fanboy of games. Not consoles and companies. I learned this years ago when for years I had nothing to play on GameCube.
Also OP, don't let all these people making snide remarks about price deter you. Get a PS5 with PS Plus Extra and enjoy a TON of games you probably never got to play as a Xbox guy. You'll be so busy that by the time you're done
new games will have dropped in price or end up on the service as well.

Forza, Redfall, Hellblade 2, and Starfield were announced in 2017/18?

I don't think that's water you are drinking friend.
still they've been announced a WHILE ago and they haven't released anything since, although redfall and starfield had some release dates there have been nothing to come out recently.

70 dollar games are fucking bullshit and so is the price increase
this is why i'm getting a physical since i can at least get better deals later down the line.
I cant believe id ever go back to physical after getting a PC and an xbox

Did you know that the same PC you're using to openly pirate Switch games can also be used to buy MS and Sony games without having to pay to play them online? You can even pirate those too if you really want to...
yep, but sony's still taking too long to actually bother
until they've started doing day and date, i might as well purchase one now
of course, if they do then this will age poorly but id rather not wait, what if they never end up porting ragnarok until like 5 years down the line? they still need to sell consoles after all

Been playing more Playstation classics on my Series X than what is available on Playstation 5.

This generation has been disappointing.

I have an Xbox because a Series S was cheap. I do not own a PS5 just because there simply is not enough software on it. Both companies have been lackluster in their software support.

Nintendo has been pretty darn good, luckily. I don't have a lot of time to play games, but if I did, most of it would be on Switch.

I have 0 doubts in my mind that Forza will be amazing, ive played horizon 5 and motorsport 7 and despite all of motorsport 7's faults it was still fun through and through, horizon 5 is one of my favorite racing games of all time
as for the others.... i dropped hellblade 1 so while the 2nd one may be a graphical showcase i will have to wait and see if the gameplay's up to the same standard. starfield showcase was a bit rough so not much hope there, and nothing has been shown of avowed. Redfall i dont give much of a fuck about

i actually hope xbox gets their shit together because i love the experience of playing on that console, but i'd like some 1st party games too, and everything shown on playstation looks more mouthwatering day after day. until then i'll be playing on steam and sony.

When you achieve a complete system collection then you can float above the console wars in harmony, impartially observing the entertainment beneath you.
good, i will soon
i have a PC, switch and an Xbox series S as of now. if (not when) i get my PS5 this will technically make me a true gamer and i will ascend to gaming heaven

All 3 are worth owning, and they all have periods of drought and periods of cool stuff to play. When you achieve a complete system collection then you can float above the console wars in harmony, impartially observing the entertainment beneath you.

This is the truth. Just buy all the platforms, enjoy all the great exclusives on each one.

Hellblade 2 had its first trailer in 2019. Not sure when it was first revealed.

Starfield was trademarked in 2013. It was officially announced at E3 in 2018.

Redfall was in development in 2018. Not sure when its first trailer came.

No idea about this version of Forza.

I'd say Xbox exclusive output has been pretty dismal since 2016, but who's counting? The minute they release a great new single player IP that can stand up to an uncharted, tlou, spider-man, days gone, ghost of tsushima, etc. is the day I'll care about Xbox.

"Everything else has been excellent but God damn, games have been pathetic"

I feel the same way. Xbox got everything right except the most important part, lol.

If worst comes to worst, there's always PC GamePass. That way you can try the games you're not sure about, and if you like them, either buy them on Steam or pick up a Series S or X if you'd like to play them anytime without paying a recurring subscription cost.

I'm personally going to play the Xbox stuff on PC this gen, most likely, but might get a Series S down the road.

PS5 has had a much greater start than the PS4 here are my recommendations OP. I'll include remasters in case you don't own a PS4

The Last of Us Part I
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves
Horizon Forbidden West
Spider-man
Ghost of Tsushima
Demon Souls
Sifu
Returnal
Sackboy
Astro's Playroom (free)
Stray
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Sword and Fairy Stay Together
Spider-man Miles Morales
Guilty Gear Strive

Ignore the negative people, some of them be the same ones talking about modern gaming sucks but are closed off from a lot of the great games
