I'm disappointed in MS this year and I'm getting a PS5.... I hope.

Do you, but i feel like this 1st party outputargument is overrated. Theres so many damn games to play from 3rd parties that it doesnt really matter like that. All you hear from people is how big their backlog is, how they dont even buy games day 1 anymore and wait for sales.

This 1st party output importance is just all fan boy bragging/trolling shit. The only fans that need good 1st party output is nintendo because they have shit 3rd party support

true but if you had to choose between a console with good third party support & good first party support, or a company with good third party & mediocre first party.... you'd probably be better off with the former
can't really argue gamepass since that's on PC and i have one, can't argue emulation either since in that case PC stomps any xbox, and backwards compat is useless when a lot of previous xbox games were on other platforms or can be played/emulated on PC anyways
every base that i got an xbox for is covered by PC, so at this point might as well get a playstation.

sony first party studios are very talented and typically much higher production value than third party stuff. theres been almost nothing shown or promised by 3rd party devs that compare

dude, third parties barely exist anymore.

After the Activision blizzard deal the quality 3rd parties are basically gone.

I've gone the other way.

Played PS4 pretty much exclusively last gen.

Then the abomination that is the PS5 released.

I've gone green and just play the (still excellent) Sony exclusives when they come out.

Truth is, I think both console libraries are shit compared last gen. I feel let down by both companies, the games are mostly mediocre.

Xbox wins by having a far superior controller, better back compat, superior UI etc etc

Also, Jim Ryan is a greedy fuck who doesn't understand gamers in the slightest.

As for the OP, don't bother jumping ship…I'll guarantee you feel let down within a few weeks.

The DE is a very good price and way sexier console that the regular model. If i ever buy one, it will be the DE one.

Despite how many troll posts I make on this board, this is genuine and I felt I had to air it out simply because I can't help but speak my goddamn mind on this. Frankly as I'm typing it I feel like this is a stupid idea seeing as how everyone would call me a hypocrite for everything I said in the past.

With how pathetic the first party output this year has been (almost immediately after having a great 2021) I don't think I can deny that Xboxs software output is god damn dismal this year. Frankly I'd probably do a better job. Everything else has been excellent but God damn, games have been pathetic.

Like, putting all of this aside, let's listen to the Xbox fanboys here for a moment and humor them. 2023 is the year of Xbox and by some miracle everything rumored in the pipeline came out. Xbox has its most profitable year in history and fans are happy. These games were announced around 2017/18. For a year like that to happen again we'd have to wait 6 years until 2029. Xbox would basically be relying on this strategy of little/no games for half a decade, then a sudden blowout of quality content. Thats a fucking terrible strategy and its all because of MS pathetic management, wanting studios to make games but not really holding them accountable for it or having them put in the fucking work to get them out on time reasonably.

Frankly, I can't really see myself being a green rat anymore when we're this starved for new content. You know what I think? I'm getting a God damn Playstation and I'm going to enjoy it. Hopefully. I don't have a lot of cash at the moment. I say I'm not that interested in Playstation exclusives and that I hate them, but when the competition is this dry I can't help but feel the grass is greener on the other side. Besides... I can't knock it until I've tried it. The spiderman pc port was kind of fun despite me saying I wasn't interested in it. Fuck this fanboy shit, until MS gets their shit together I'm going towards greener pastures. Those pastures being Valve and Sony. As my good friend @TintoConCasera said...

Anyways uhhh.... anyone know where in the HELL I can get one?????

I don't like some things Sony is doing on a corporate level but they have better exclusives and there is no significant difference in quality for third party like there was when 360 was clearly better than PS3. I am playing Elden Ring on my PS5 and I am sure I would have the exact same experience on Series X.

I don't think anyone should be hardcore Xbox or PlayStation anyway because I don't think that attitude is healthy. I have the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, but I mostly game on PC (which I feel is the best of both worlds, even if PlayStation exclusives don't release on PC day one... yet).

The people that say the Xbox Series X sucks are wrong. The people that say the PlayStation 5 sucks are wrong. The people that say there are strengths and weaknesses on both platforms are right. I think if you get the PlayStation 5 you'll find that you're neither a green rat nor a... blue... dildo? I don't know what the Sony/PlayStation version of green rat is. I'm not even sure where the term "green rat" come from, or why that has become the go-to term for an Xbox fan boy. But that's neither here nor there, I suppose.

I remember that thread! I didn't know that was the first use of the term "green rat". I guess kretos kretos never really left us after all.

But what if I did have a PS4?

You can forget about GT7, Horizon Forbidden West, and God Of War which are the 3 major/must play Playstation exclusives. Don't tell me I should buy a PS5 to play Astro, Returnal, Demons Souls, or Ratchet and Clank lol.
What's wrong with ASTRO, Returnal, DS, and Ratchet? They're all amazing their own right...well, Ratchet wasn't exactly amazing but the graphics certainly are (it's a good game not a great game). ASTRO is honestly not that special. Demons Souls and Returnal are amazing though.

if they are taking 6 years to make games now, then they will take 6 years to make sequels to those games in the future
games don't take this long or stay in development hell this much

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that they're taking 6 years to make games. You still haven't addressed your weird assumption that Xbox is going to drop games from over 20 first party studios next year.

it wasnt an assumption, i was being hypothetical
i thought "let's humor the xbox fanboys for a bit" would make that clear that i dont actually think this would happen

PC with gamepass and PS5 is the absolute way to go. You can throw a switch in there too if you like. When Sony finally releases day one PC games maybe we can stop this console war bullshit for once and for all.

still they've been announced a WHILE ago and they haven't released anything since, although redfall and starfield had some release dates there have been nothing to come out recently.

They were announced 1-2 years ago, that's about the average announce to release cycle that usually happens in gaming these days.

Hellblade 2 had its first trailer in 2019. Not sure when it was first revealed.

Starfield was trademarked in 2013. It was officially announced at E3 in 2018.

Redfall was in development in 2018. Not sure when its first trailer came.

No idea about this version of Forza.

Ok, and a trademark has nothing to do with when the game came to fruition and was announced, which was only a short time ago relatively, Foza reboot was announced in 2020, RedFall was announced in 2020 or 2021 forgot which, both not far off.

MS has many examples of games with long delays from them being mentioned, but these are not it.

Starfield was, yeah. Hellblade 2 was 2019.

I don't recall any Starfield reveals in 2017/18 link?

Did anyone else buy a Series X right before the Starfield delay like me? Starfield hype got me and I was almost certain it was coming this November seeing how Bethesda was doing those roundtable talks with Todd Howard and hyping the 11.11 date.

I got Todd Howard'd big time. Bought it a week before the delay, then the realization hit me that MS had nothing else for '22. Then I started to play Halo Infinite and realized how lacking that game is. Forza Horizon 5 is the only thing that really delivered the goods. Now its just Scorn (doubt it'll be good) and Plague Tale Requiem on GP to look forward to.

Next year better be freakin great. We do have Starfield and Forza Motorsport for sure next year. Redfall doesn't exactly give me that "hoype".

PS5 doesn't have many games either though. Both of the consoles have an anaemic selection of exclusives. I would get a PS3 or a PS4 pro and enjoy mostly the same games plus a massive library of gems if I were strapped for cash.

You're just wrong. And have already been proven so.

That's true! When getting the latest graphics cards, PC gamers never play their old games on better settings.

No, only ONE game so far (starfield) has been proven to be shown in 2017/2018, that's 1 out of 4 games, sorry but you guys are going crazy on the hyperbole.
Dude, Hellblade 2 info is as old as Series X info. They were literally revealed together in 2019.

You are arguing against facts like they are opinions.

No, you're supproting a bad claim.

All you users are going after me for calling out another user saying that the 4 2023 games were announced in 2017/18 and they weren't, only 1 out of the 4 were.

Given the reveal release times that have been going on in this industry that last several years they are releasing (assuming no more delays) within line of other releases. Hell Blade 2 in 2019 is still not 2017/18, the guy is wrong, and you're trying to act like he never made that post but that's the only reason why you are replying to me right now because of that previous conversation.

I'm not saying that I'm not disappointed the games haven't come out, but some of you are extending how long it's been than it actually has, since these games were announced. Hellblase 2 was 2019, Forza was 2020, and somewhere in 2020-2021 was Redfall. Those aren't out of the ordinary for reveal:release lengths.

In a couple years OP will be making a thread on how he's selling his PS5, because game releases are slow - and Xbox's studio acquisitions are pumping out games.

No. You're just being pedantic.

Turn 10 released Forza Motorsport 7 in 2017.

It is logical to assume that they began pre-production of FM8 in late 2017/early 2018. It doesn't matter when they announced it, it's currently been in the oven for 4/5 years which is what OP is saying.

Get whatever console you feel like. I don't think you need to justify it either way.

The whole gaming industry is post-homogeneous. A boring clusterfuck of delays, and big marketing hype for ultimately mediocre game releases.

The most exciting shit to hit the market are overpriced remasters or game collection ports. The most exciting news is typically when acquisitions happen and stir up shit drama. The spectacle of possible new owners dumping their money into ports or remasters of other old dead IP, since nobody has an original thought these days anyway.

Most of the talent that made gaming great is retiring, dying, or will be dead by the end of this console generation.

Teenagers these days are stupider than the previous generation in fundamental understanding of concepts around how computers function, let alone grasp software development.

beaker-muppets.gif

I too, am disappointed. I won't buy the new Xbox until there are games worth playing on it, but I'll never buy the ugly PS5 because I'm not an aesthetically tasteless retard.

Don't use words you don't know how to sue properly.

It is logical to assume that they began pre-production of FM8 in late 2017/early 2018.

Which is not only wrong, but isn't even what the above user argued and you're moving the goal posts. his statement was direct and clear that the games were announced in 2018/18 and they still haven't released, and he was outside 1 game objectively wrong for the other 3.

I am also impatient like you all for the games to be released, but assuming there are no more delays, the other 3 games are releasing no different than other show to release times we've seen before. 2-3 years.

Literal post from OP you are gaslighting people on

These games were announced around 2017/18.

JFC man you've been going on about hating these games you've never even tried? What a true console warrior, you must be classically trained in the gamefaqs minefields.

In any case...I propose another option...have a Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo and PC and use them all for what they're good at. They don't ALL have to be the latest one.

It's kind of silly and petty to limit yourself. You'd probably let yourself be reduced to using an old cheap Xbox One, if you really had to, just for access to the games and ecosystem. Like it's not something that's that big a deal or a huge decision. The cost of entry to Playstation is the same, like you could get a base PS4 and have access to 90%+ of the games on PS5...running at lower settings of course...but it's not like getting access to these games is some earth shattering decision...it's just a $200 box. Try them out...who gives a shit. lol.

i have a gamefaqs account but i do not browse it.... that place must be a hellscape if what you said was accurate

Going forward both Xbox and PlayStation output looks shit, Sony jumping on the gass bandwagon, ms sticking to shooters and rpg games, golden days of gaming are over.

I did what you were going to do but I have no idea what to buy on PS5. Almost every PS5 games I want to buy, I will be getting on PC and Xbox.

As for exclusives, Not interested in Ratchet & Clank, and I am going to wait for Horizon Forbidden West, Returnal & Miles Morale on PC. I only have Bloodborne, Uncharted Trilogy that I purchased during discount, since I feel that they are not going to be releasing on PC. God of War Ragnarok might be my next PS5 game. Not in a hurry to buy Demon's Soul since I haven't completed Bloodborne yet, so I am fine waiting for discount.

Ms has a good year lined up next year with starfield, diablo, hellblade and forza coming out. The next doom, prey, cod and dishonored will only be on Xbox.

Their first party games might only come out every 5-6 years away but their new acquisitions should start producing next year and should be far more consistent.
