I'm disappointed in MS this year and I'm getting a PS5.... I hope.

Despite how many troll posts I make on this board, this is genuine and I felt I had to air it out simply because I can't help but speak my goddamn mind on this. Frankly as I'm typing it I feel like this is a stupid idea seeing as how everyone would call me a hypocrite for everything I said in the past.

With how pathetic the first party output this year has been (almost immediately after having a great 2021) I don't think I can deny that Xboxs software output is god damn dismal this year. Frankly I'd probably do a better job. Everything else has been excellent but God damn, games have been pathetic.

Like, putting all of this aside, let's listen to the Xbox fanboys here for a moment and humor them. 2023 is the year of Xbox and by some miracle everything rumored in the pipeline came out. Xbox has its most profitable year in history and fans are happy. These games were announced around 2017/18. For a year like that to happen again we'd have to wait 6 years until 2029. Xbox would basically be relying on this strategy of little/no games for half a decade, then a sudden blowout of quality content. Thats a fucking terrible strategy and its all because of MS pathetic management, wanting studios to make games but not really holding them accountable for it or having them put in the fucking work to get them out on time reasonably.

Frankly, I can't really see myself being a green rat anymore when we're this starved for new content. You know what I think? I'm getting a God damn Playstation and I'm going to enjoy it. Hopefully. I don't have a lot of cash at the moment. I say I'm not that interested in Playstation exclusives and that I hate them, but when the competition is this dry I can't help but feel the grass is greener on the other side. Besides... I can't knock it until I've tried it. The spiderman pc port was kind of fun despite me saying I wasn't interested in it. Fuck this fanboy shit, until MS gets their shit together I'm going towards greener pastures. Those pastures being Valve and Sony. As my good friend @TintoConCasera said...

Anyways uhhh.... anyone know where in the HELL I can get one?????

Edit: i have a PC, switch, and Xbox series S so i can't really sell it for much

"Ah Shiiit, Call of Duty annual release is Xbox/Windows exclusive."

First party output is shit across the board right now - MS got their stuff out for the last holiday when Sony had nothing, then Sony's delayed stuff hit early this year when MS had nothing.

Covid biting, just at different times.

Some great stuff out there though on the sub services from third parties. Wife is obsessed with that Disney game, and I've been really enjoying Tinykin and Immortality. No shortage of good stuff to play.

Look, I agree that the 1st party has been quite abysmal, especially this year. But we have to look at the big picture here.

This issue roots all the way back to the announcement of Xbox One when Don Mattrixk single handely started smearing and destroying the Xbox brand with horrendous PR prior to the Xbox One's launch.

He then left or got fired and Phil Spencer took over and was the one who started cleaning up the big mess. It took over 4-6 years to bring back a good image for the Xbox and go from anti consumer practices and more consumer friendly thanks to amazing backwards compatability and Game Pass offerings.

But the games were still lacking, so they started buying out studios. 2018 is when they announced many studios including Ninja Theory, Playground Games, and many others.

However, starting brand new studios and getting the ground running takes a long time. It doesn't happen over night. Fast forward to 2020 the entire world got put on pause cause you know why. This has put a stop every single studio, industry, and just people's love in general. You don't need me to tell me that, you lived through that yourself.

Plus 2020 was a brand new console cycle, the transition to new gen hardware also takes time. Why does Sony have so many games this and last year? Because majority of their biggest titles are cross gen including Spider Man Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok.

With the only exception being Returnal and Ratchet and Clank, but let's be real, while these are great games they are much on a smaller scale and ambition than opposed to something like Fable Reboot, Awoved, Starfield and others. Projects of this size take far longer time, money and energy.

Same thing for Sony, they were smart with keeping people happy in the meantime with their cross gen games but you still won't see next gen stuff from 1st party on both publishers.

Another issue with Microsoft is yes the management is a tad strange and I am not sure what's happening. 343 is another disaster. Sony doesn't have these issues because studios like Housemarque, Insomniac and Guerilla Games have been been making for PlayStation systems for many decades, there was nothing new to setup or curate. These were already fully grown development teams.

Microsoft is starting more from scratch and as I said previously that will take while to get right.

I think Microsoft is in a much better place now. Yes it sucks to have wait longer but it is what it is.

Long story short, you have to understand the situation they were in and the fact that true changes do not happen overnight. Either way, I think both publishers have great stuff coming.

Hey fellow kids, I am somewhat of a gamer myself, and the PS 5 is the console to get.

I do not work for Sony PR.

I go where the JRPG's go (except with Nintendo).

Unfortunately, though, I have never been interested in Sony 1st party games and this gen is no different. Snooze fest.

I would've bought an Xbox Series X if Infinite's campaign wasn't the exact opposite of what I wanted

Do you, but i feel like this 1st party outputargument is overrated. Theres so many damn games to play from 3rd parties that it doesnt really matter like that. All you hear from people is how big their backlog is, how they dont even buy games day 1 anymore and wait for sales.

This 1st party output importance is just all fan boy bragging/trolling shit. The only fans that need good 1st party output is nintendo because they have shit 3rd party support
I couldn't agree with you more. MS was never known for being a 1st party powerhouse. The 3rd party deals they have been making particularly around Game pass has given gamers tons to play. They had several other efforts but delays pushed them back. Next year will have more and there isn't any real urge to have tons of games this year at this point. 2023 will be here very soon.

sony first party studios are very talented and typically much higher production value than third party stuff. theres been almost nothing shown or promised by 3rd party devs that compare

It depends what you prefer.

Sony first party games have an edge in animation, fluidity. But they also come with this weird pacing issue where the game doesn't let you spend time playing it. It's always over in a flash.

3rd party games and even xbox first party titles have mechanics that let you spend time playing the game. They normally designed with player retention in mind, something Sony first party doesn't care for.

Though that might change with more GAAS titles from Sony but how they fuse their animation/ fluidity with engaging mechanics remain to be seen.

I love sony 1st party games theyre great but theres enough games to hold me down if there were any delays to their games. Even if ms released their 1st party on schedule there no guarantee theyll be any good.
true but if you had to choose between a console with good third party support & good first party support, or a company with good third party & mediocre first party.... you'd probably be better off with the former
can't really argue gamepass since that's on PC and i have one, can't argue emulation either since in that case PC stomps any xbox, and backwards compat is useless when a lot of previous xbox games were on other platforms or can be played/emulated on PC anyways
every base that i got an xbox for is covered by PC, so at this point might as well get a playstation.

Thats absolutely fine and nothing wrong that. I guess for you itll prob boil down to your rig and the settings you want to play at. With the bethesda acquisition and soon to be activison, the games will start coming when its their turn in the order. You can always sell the xbox get a ps5 then upgrade your pc or get a series x later down the line again if need be.

I got a XSX and PS5 at launch and I've probably spent 80% of my gaming time since then on PC, 10% on Switch and 10% between the other two. Really slow starts from both camps.

If you can find one, do it. And get PS+ and enjoy the extremely good game-catalogue you'll have if you've stayed away for awhile. I use my PS5 way more than my XSX at the moment because I haven't bought everything day one, I have tons of games to play through game-catalogue.

Although, keep your Series S, or buy a Series X once MS sort out the game release issues. Going with both Xbox and Playstation is the only way forward for anyone serious about gaming. Plus a Nintendo console of course, possibly a PC too but there aren't so many exclusives so if you don't need the best graphics, highest framerates and serious mod support you could do without that.

I can't find the motivation to enter next gen at all.I think I will be gaming less this gen(if indeed it does happen),so I may only get one console.
