I hope it gets a full patch.
I fired up Mario odyssey and ended up playing for like 5 hours straight. I forgot how basher insane that game is for content.
SMT V runs great too (locked at 30)
SemanticsSry my friend runs great and locked 30 are antonyms.
Indeed. Xeno 3 is able to run 60 fps on a modded overclocked original switch too.
Playing Trails from Zero on the Switch 2 feels much better than it did on the Switch 1. The text and character portraits in particular look MUCH sharper. I think the game is actually running full 1080p in handheld mode, whereas it was 720p before (or maybe 1080p downsampled to 720p?).
Game runs at a solid 60fps, but it also did on the Switch 1. It's a PSP game after all

First video in OP I believeAnyone tried Echoes of Wisdom or LA yet? I heard they patched it but I want to make sure those 60 to 30 FPS drops were fixed.
Was playing it previously on the OLED Switch 1, and it looks better on Switch 2.OG Switch 1 or the OLED Switch 1?
Switch 1 games running on the Switch 2 look, at a bare minimum, the same as they do on the Switch 1. The overwhelming majority of games look 100% identical unless they are specifically patched. There are a few exceptions, games mentioned in this thread. Games like Xenoblade 2 that looked like shit on Switch 1, still look like shit on Switch 2, unfortunately. Games that had dynamic / shifting resolution on Switch 1 will see the most benefit on Switch 2, and games like Hyrule Warriors that struggled on the old hardware run pretty decently on Switch 2 as a result, but again these are the exceptions, not the rule. The Switch 2 doesn't do any sort of post-processing or upscaling of Switch 1 games. How do switch 1 games look on the switch 2 1080p handheld screen?
I know they are stretched, but how bad is it?
How do 480p games thinking Xenoblade 2 (it was already a blurry mess on switch) look.
How about pixel games that are 720p do they scale ok?
Do games with shifting resolution keep a solid 1080p if not locked?
Does the switch 2 do anything to pretty up the picture?
What are the odds of nintendo ever doing anything to allow docked resolution for handheld.
Would love to see an arkham patch for resolution but dont think it will ever happenWhile the backwards compatibility improvements are nice, it's really annoying how few official patches there are so far.
Hopefully if the console sells well, more publishers will go back and do updates to take advantage of the hardware.
Damn, it actually runs now.
lots of 1st party are $40 right now on Woot! ...at least for the US.I'm tempted by a lot of these games that I missed, but like barely any of them are on sale (most are still $60) and I kinda have enough to play ATM. Stoked for more patches for 60 FPS to come though but I gotta stay disciplined at this time. Obviously we all spent a ton on this new machine with expensive accessories.

XC2 looks horrible on the S2, worse than on my S1, due to the larger display. The aliasing and pixel crawl is on full display, Monolithsoft should have pushed out a resolution patch. How do 480p games thinking Xenoblade 2 (it was already a blurry mess on switch) look.
Yeah, ARMS and fucking Big Brain Academy have official patches, but XCX doesn't and I'm going to seethe and shake every day until it does. While the backwards compatibility improvements are nice, it's really annoying how few official patches there are so far.
There is no upgrade patch for any XC games. They might stick closer to 30 fps on average, do not expect anything more unless Monolithsoft patches them. I hope these patches are free and not 10$.Anyone gave XCX: DE a try? I haven't played it on Switch but doing so right now on Switch 2
From what I played its a lot smoother, looks the same.Any videos on Mudrunner 1? If it looks acceptable on Switch 2 then it's an amazing upgrade.
I just snagged MvC collection after I saw this cause I've been on the fence and 25$ sale at target had a gift card. I know it has no improvements, but I used to love those fighters back in the day and I started thinking that S1 carts are going to be valuable.I'm snapping up physical Switch games like they're going out of style, since they're going to be HIGHLY sought after in the not too distant future.
skyrim runs a bit better and looks sharper plus loads faster. All around a better game with no patches. Would be nice for a real update but.... Microsoft now.I'm guessing things like Joycon mouse functionality don't just natively work - ie Metroid Prime Remastered or Skyrim would require some kind of patch is that right?

Texture work is amazing, they clearly didn't just bumped resolution and frame rate, most probably re-imported (probably re-exported as well) all textures, some terrain textures that looked blurry in Switch 1 ended up being not because they stretched them but because that's how they are, just different rock designs lol.Damn, most impressed with Zelda. Big upgrade on this one.
Wow. Looks like some textures were significantly reworked entirely.Texture work is amazing, they clearly didn't just bumped resolution and frame rate, most probably re-imported (probably re-exported as well) all textures, some terrain textures that looked blurry in Switch 1 ended up being not because they stretched them but because that's how they are, just different rock designs lol.
Also I'm noticing the lighting/shadows got improved but not changed for another model, like they just raised the sampling or something like that.

Nintendo work their material using procedural methods like everyone else in the industry, they literally have infinite resolution, if anything, they just rebaked the textures in higher resolution or maybe (most probably) they had high resolution texture files and just reduced the size for each case (Switch og release and Switch 2 Edition).Wow. Looks like some textures were significantly reworked entirely.
The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:
Splatsville, Inkopolis, Inkopolis Square, Grand Festival Grounds
- Made it so that the screen displays in more detail.
- Made on-screen movement smoother in the following areas.
This change is to reduce differences in game operation speed as much as possible when compared with Nintendo Switch 2.
- In Salmon Run, smoothed Salmonid animations even when there's a large number of Salmonids in the stage.
- Smoothed animations for certain characters, such as jellyfish.
- Changed the animation that displays in the bottom right of the screen when switching scenes.
- Increased the resolution of images stored in the Nintendo Switch 2 Album when screens are captured using Photo Mode or the Capture Button on the controller.
- The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch: Made it so that certain elements outside the stage and unrelated to battle do not display when battling in Splat Zones/Tower Control/Rainmaker/Clam Blitz modes.
In Recon Mode, all elements will display as they have up to this point.
All other changes below apply to both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
Changes to Multiplayer
These weapons will be available in the shops after applying the update.
- Added a new stage, Urchin Underpass.
- Added 30 new weapons as part of the Splatlands Collection - Barazushi / Emberz.
ThisWhy the FUCK doesn't Xenoblade Chronicles X have a launch upgrade?

I mean this is an official remaster, not a free patch at the end so yeah I would hope to see better textures/shadows/lighting.Texture work is amazing, they clearly didn't just bumped resolution and frame rate, most probably re-imported (probably re-exported as well) all textures, some terrain textures that looked blurry in Switch 1 ended up being not because they stretched them but because that's how they are, just different rock designs lol.

Not really the same but my Internet has... Switched. Renewed interest if they perform better, especially JRPGs and some action.I'm snapping up physical Switch games like they're going out of style, since they're going to be HIGHLY sought after in the not too distant future.
