This. Only ppl jumping on this like it bad are PlayStation fanboys mostly
This is astonishing. Do they have any idea how popular Divinity Original Sin 2 is on PC? Didn't they say they wanted to push PC subscribers on Gamepass because the console market had pretty much reached saturation!?A lesson in not counting your tadpoles before they’ve hatched.
When Microsoft was considering future release titles to bring to Game Pass last May, Larian’s hit CRPG Baldur’s Gate 3 barely made the list. The game was described as a “Second-run Stadia PC RPG” in leaked emails from the FTC v. Microsoft case. The explosive overnight popularity of Baldur’s Gate...www.theverge.com
Really? Thats not what the "article" says. You're very generously giving ms the benefit of the doubt here. Which is hilarious given all of the news today. You are an idiot who have problem with reading.
"Second run" literally means second release. It's not statement of percived quality of BG but accurate description of reality. It would LITERALLY be second release of RPG that had first release on Stadia. Is that this hard to understand?
HARD DISAGREE.They aren't wrong, nobody cares about BG3 on consoles.
They aren't wrong, nobody cares about BG3 on consoles.
Lol I mean. It not wrong. Ppl jumping on this right now like it bad.
They're right lol
it just seems like maybe the writer didn't know what second run meant, and probably thought it had a negative connotation like "second-rate" or "second hand".Really? That email included a table with Microsoft’s assessments of upcoming games for potential inclusion in the company’s Game Pass subscription service.
While other titles were rated on their “wow factor” — e.g., Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was marked at very high, while Dragon Ball: The Breakers was listed as low — Baldur’s Gate 3 was marked Hub, and last on the list. (It’s unclear whether “Hub” refers to the Xbox Insiders Hub; games like Let’s Sing ABBA and Ubisoft’s Just Dance got the same distinction.)
And Sony too it seems. This says to me that the game wasn't on the radar when it comes to console gamers.Nobody has any idea how much Google were set to pay them or how long that agreement was going to be in place for.
But it is funny when Google, who were barely dipping their toes in the water, are better at identifying potential greatness than Xbox are.
Sony literally had blog posts about the game breaking down features for some time prior to the PC launch, let alone consoles launch. And Sony too it seems. This says to me that the game wasn't on the radar when it comes to console gamers.
HARD DISAGREE.
I'm barely sleeping rn.
Maybe. I guess we'll find out for sure when all the leaks get sorted through. MS valuing them at only 5 mill for gamepass is absurd compared to the prices they've paid for others.it just seems like maybe the writer didn't know what second run meant, and probably thought it had a negative connotation like "second-rate" or "second hand".

Wrong. At the time bg3 was more likely gonna be exclusively stadia for a few months. These was talking about last year in may. I don’t think stadia even announced yet that they was shutting down at that time. But I could been wrong. So yes it would had been a 2nd run game. Launch on stadia first. Then maybe steam and Xbox and ps5 on their 2nd run. So yes it was a 2nd run game as plan at that time.
Anything negative for PlayStation, Xbox fans jumping on it. Anything negative for Xbox, PlayStation fans jumping on. They jump on it so fast and quick. That sometimes they don’t realize how wrong they are bout itCalling a bunch of us “Playstation fanboys”, in a thread with multiple people claiming they “know” BG 3 didn’t sell well on PS5.
Redfall? That's a banger. Baldurs Gate 3? That's crap.Explains everything as to why they can't identify quality games.
I'm referring to when the game first was announced.Sony literally had blog posts about the game breaking down features for some time prior to the PC launch, let alone consoles launch.
Possibly not, but we don't have any idea what their assessment of the game was at the time, we do have Microsoft's.
Steam was not excluded in any way as part of the the Stadia agreement. What are you talking about?
Still doesn’t change the fact. At that time. BG3 was gonna be more likely a 2nd run game on Xbox consoles. Which in some cases it still is. It not lunching on the same date with pc and ps5. But that Xbox ecosystem fault for the most part it seemsPossibly not, but we don't have any idea what their assessment of the game was at the time, we do have Microsoft's.

Larian was literally on MS's list of possible studio acquisitions from previous court documents so pick whatever secret MS document you want to run with at this point.Maybe. I guess we'll find out for sure when all the leaks get sorted through. MS valuing them at only 5 mill for gamepass is absurd compared to the prices they've paid for others.
Like, 5 years ago? There was no console announcement at the time because there was no next gen console to run the game.I'm referring to when the game first was announced.
I was speaking to baldurs gate 3 specifically.Larian was literally on MS's list of possible studio acquisitions from previous court documents so pick whatever secret MS document you want to run with at this point.
Was the highest selling preorder in US for August I believe?I guess we'll find out when PlayStation releases their monthly PSN charts for September.
Anything negative for PlayStation, Xbox fans jumping on it. Anything negative for Xbox, PlayStation fans jumping on. They jump on it so fast and quick. That sometimes they don’t realize how wrong they are bout it
First announced for Stadia.Like, 5 years ago? There was no console announcement at the time because there was no next gen console to run the game.
p.s. Nice edit.
A partial version of the game was released in early access format for macOS, Windows, and the Stadia streaming service, on 6 October 2020. The game remained in early access until its full release on Windows on 3 August 2023.
If only Larian had released titles on Xbox and Windows in the past....
Yeah, people were championing that for Starfield.Edited cause it wasn't adding anything, but while the divinity games are good, no one expected the game to shoot up with 800k concurrent on steam and the critical reception it got year + before its retail release.
Woah, woah, woah. Let's not let facts get in the way of getting angry at Microsoft. You are attacking some posters identity here.Do you even know what "first run" and "second run" even mean?
And fucking idiots in Verge to. "Journalists" my ass.
When that document was created BG3 was planned to launch first on PC and Stadia. That make it for XBox and Sony literally second run Stadia RPG.
Second run means that it's re-release of product. Fucking idiots everywhere.

First off. This tread has nothing to do with the Abk thing. 2nd, even if it did poorly on PlayStation, there fans still use it as something they got over Xbox. Coming on there first and that it having hard time on series s. They jumping on this, cause they first was thinking Xbox was downgrading or talking bad bout BG3. Which you could see that on the first few posts. This day has clearly been an image-damaging one for Xbox. And one that shows a lot of truth that many Xbox fans denied when they were arguing for the ABK acquisition. “So sorry” that people who were nervous about a potential monopoly finally feel elated to see the truth come out, and hope the proper legal counsels will take this into consideration the next time Microsoft tries to pull a stunt like this.
Regardless, you chose to specifically go after the “Playstation fanboys” while conveniently ignoring the individuals in the same thread claiming they “know” BG 3 will do poorly on PS5.
Yeah, people were championing that for Starfield.
Hindsight and the surprise hit of the game changed that, they wouldn't be changing one of the core tenets of the consoles to get the game on Xbox asap.Phil's job is to be forward thinking. It's also not a good look to shit talk your business partners nor is it a good like to shrug of Microsoft's largest platform that your division is trying to make inroads in with their Xbox services.
The put it in the same category as "lets sing abba" They clearly thought little of it. It's okay I understand it's been a rough day.First off.
