In this thread we will make crazy, unsupported E3 2005 predictions

I'll start:

EA announces exclusivity deal with NBA and NHL.

EA announces acquisition of UbiSoft.

Nintendo shows off next Mario title (non-playable) for Revolution.

Microsoft announces "Xbox HD" for US launch in November 2005 at $399 price point.

Microsoft announces "XBM (XBox Mobile)" for release March 2006 at $299 price point.

SCEA announces PS3 at $399 price point for launch October 2006.

tijuanareggieanime22.gif

Sega will unveil the "Sega Dreamcast 2".
Sega will show first dreamcast 2 games.
First dreamcast 2 games are "sonic goes back to africa" "after burner on the ground" "Jet set radio 1486" "Alex kidd in tax reform world" "Make your own video: Orange juice jones" "Jambo safari again" "Phantasy star 5: A universe at the brink (starring dogtato and friends)"

1- The actual Revolution will be that Nintendo will team up with MS.

2- The Next GBA will be announced, making DS-owners very angry.

3- Zelda will be playable but very similar to OOT in terms of gameplay.

4- Halo 2: The lost Earth battle will be announced for PC-DVD

5- Mario 128 is a puzzle game

6- There will be a port of Street Fighter Alpha 3 for PSP

7- Sony's slideshow pre-E3 conference won't bore people to death.

Nintendo:
-Mario 128 (not playable)
-new Cube RPG
and
-Wario Ware Switched :lol

Microsoft:
-Rare announces PDZ, Kameo and Sabreman Stampede (all for Xenon)
-Factor 5 announces Animal Wars
-Silicon Knights presents Too Human and announces another Xenon game
-Ken Lobb speaks bad words on Rare :D
and
-Publishers like Namco, Capcom and SquareEnix develop big titles for Xenon

OK, not that crazy, but my predictions. [Edit: This was a joke!]

Nintendo:

Square and Nintendo show off Online games for the DS (FFCC and a modified FFXI)
Mario 128 in video form 2 part game first part for gamecube, second for Rev.
Pokemon XD will feature fur mapping and bump mapping and all that eye candy stuff
Zelda will be playable and OWN

M$:

They will promote thier (we will charge you for every little addon for games)
Xenon will be shown not mch above current high end pc's

Sony:

I dont care

:)

Sony PSP will be The Hot X-Mas gift. Steamrolling the Xenon.

PSP and PS2 sales will be first and second place in holiday hardware sales. Microsoft will cry in third place. :P

SCEA announces PS3 at $399 price point for launch October 2006.

$399 is wishful thinking, particularly on the part of those that want to see Sony take a fall.

No Playstation console will launch at over $299.

I think the PS3 news at E3 is going to be the biggest shock of the show, especially with one key developer that's about to sign to their camp.

Nintendo's Revolution controller will be a controller shaped touch screen with buttons that appear as icons. Developers can program the controller to show however many buttons they need for you to play their game.

Or

The Revolution will take the shape of a laptop with a touch sensitive screen and wireless connectivity.

At least one of these things is true.

Shit, I forgot the most obvious one:

Duke Nukem Forever shown playable and announced for release in August 2005.

Man, you're going to be out $100.

It's GTA, without a doubt. MS probably gave Take 2 a very generous exclusivity deal (probably only 6 months or so).

Square-Enix isn't dropping Sony support. If anything, they're increasing it. There's an unannounced exclusive heading to both the PSP and PS2.

FFXII and KH2 are Sony exclusives. They're contractually bound to the PS2. Not going to happen.

Namco and other Japanese developers dipping their toes into the Xbox2 isn't new; the same trials were taken when the Xbox launched.

GTA Next Xenon exclusive is the only choice that could be right. Is it big news? Sure, but it's not as momentous as some would make it seem. It's surely not enough to stave off the inevitable whoopass PS3 will deliver to Xenon.

OMG! GTA 4 signed to 1 year exclusive!

To sit there and hint about (Assuming you actually know something) is IGNish.

Create an alias account from an untraceable IP. Give the info to someone who can post it.

But be like Johnny Nightrain and spill the actual info, or else just keep it quit and not hype it.

although if something like this was to go down, they'd have to make something more balanced as far as the logo is concerned.

I dunno. It takes a lot to impress me. Even with the DS/Revolution WiFi information, my one and only response was "Well, if one company was going to do it, it was going to be Nintendo." (The fact that Animal Crossing is going online is a completely seperate issue. I loathe it, but I fully acknowledge what global play means for that "game.")

But I'm guessing that it's just going to be GTA going exclusive to the XBox, which while a blow, begs the question of whether Sony didn't pony up because they see it taking the same road as Tomb Raider: Popular for a few years, but people slowly turning away in search of something new. Is San Andreas the series' peak? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I don't think for a second that Square/Enix is going to deviate from Sony unless they're shown actual sales numbers. The company has stated time, and time again that they develop for the platform that provides the biggest audience. That's not a money decision, that's a corporate philosophy. A check isn't going to change that.

So what else is there? Microsoft buying Sega/Sammy? That'd be rich, and ALMOST as pointless as them buying Rare. Microsoft teaming up with Nintendo? Before Iwata and Allard's speeches, I would've said "maybe" given that the two systems have similar guts. Not anymore, though. A portable XBox? Never going to happen. There are too many seperate hardware vendors, and the regular XBox is still too expensive for Microsoft to make, nevermind shrinking everything down.

Man, the DS/Revolution WiFi information wasn't "big news". It was just nice, it doesn't make any company shake in their foundations.

And I too loathe Animal Crossing, so high-five!

What're you, kidding? It's like the Pope coming out and converting to Judaism.

Bad analogy. It was nothing like that. Firstly, because it wasn't entirely unexpected. And secondly, because it's not something that gives it an Advantage over PS3 or Xenon.

Nintendo went from "Online? Eh, not now," to "Oh, we were just kidding. We've got wireless, and the whole magilla coming up. Pretty sweet, right?" in the course of four years. To Joe "What The Hell is This Cube Thing" Casual Gamer, it's a big change. Huge, in fact. And Nintendo making it official means 3rd party support beyond PSO.

I think we're just going to have to disagree. Revolution being Backwards compatibile was infinitely bigger news, imho.

Its not Square-Enix, because if that was the case, MS would not have bothered with Mist Walker. Not to mention Sony still owns a decent chunk of Square and hell would freeze over before they let anyone else get to them.

So GTA Next only on the XBox 2?

We'll see. I doubt it though. I'm not a fan of the series anyway though, so wouldn't bother me either way.

Uh, no. The implications of a Nintendo online network are *huge*.

You can't just look at Animal Crossing, think about what it could also mean for other Nintendo franchises in the future -- Pokemon, Pikmin, Star Fox, F-Zero, Mario Kart, Advance Wars, etc. The Revolution also having WiFi support opens the door to an interoperable DS/GBN/Revolution network. That's huge.

That's far bigger than backwards compatibility. Backwards compatibility is a nice little bonus that was some what expected anyway.
