I'm a happy man as long as they make all kinds of weird, hard-to-market oddities like Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Hellblade 2. Not sure they are saving anything, but they make stuff that I like. It is enough for me. Also, my gut tells me they will stop making games like that soon, prioritising more mainstream fare and basically do what others do. They can go and suck it!

Yeah, the devs are all angels, who would never ever lie. Considering that what was revealed in 2019 is present without any changes in the final game suggests that the game was being developed since atleast 2018. I trust the devs as much as I would trust Aaron Greenberg.

They were working on Bleeding Edge, which released in 2020, after which they shifted development to HB2. I think you're missing a key point, NT isn't a big studio at all. Only 80 people worked on HB2, it's not an Ubisoft style 800 person project.

I am sure that 2019 HB2 presentation, which is almost unaltered in the final game just apparated out of nowhere with zero engineering effort. MS bought NT for >100 M$, I am 100% sure that studio has more than 100 employees at the very least. Considering the burning pile of thrash that Bleeding Edge was, I highly doubt more than 20 people worked on it.

The 2019 trailer was a vertical slide created just for the show, the developers have said as much directly that they weren't developing the game at that point.
I'm not sure why this is a conspiracy theory lol.

Yeah they pulled an all nighter to create that vertical slice and then want back to deving the masterpiece that is Bleeding Edge. Ain't nobody naive enough to buy that shit. Dev knew they had a turd on their hand, MS dropped the price to 50$ and started downplaying expectations, dev starts talking about how they created the game in just 4 years. It works on some simpletons, anybody who can rub two brain cells together should know better.

HB2 reviewed in the good/great range. The first game was also not full price. And the development comments come from the developers themselves.

Yup, I have seen the light now, the HB2 vertical slice was made in a single night with no engineering resources spent on it. Phil just got that disc with gameplay on stage out of nowhere. The whole NT team was busy with BE till 2020. Also, HFRush was a great success as our lord and saviour Aaron Greenberg stated. Tango just decided to voluntarily disband as MS was winning too much and they wanted to bring balance to the console market.
