This is terrible. I think her campaign came too soon to Susan Wilson's. People were made suspicious and wary by that campaign, and I wonder whether her telling the truth would have had a much better reception.
The whole metal poisoning thing was hardly believable. Perhaps if she had said the truth it would have picked up on by LGBT websites?

I sure am glad we have so many psychiatric professionals around here though.

How about looking at it the other way around. For a person who(not really talking about her specifically) has been troubled all his/her life, who has gone through the health care system, medication, counselling but still not going better. Spending every day in perpetual anxiety and apathy sooner or later life like this is bound to become unbearable.
Is it not equally egoistic to keep a person like this who just wants their painful miserable existence to end, alive just for the sake of yourself not getting sad? You rather watch them writhe in pain until they die naturally than allow(atleast understand their desire to lay it all to rest) them some final peace because it might hurt you or his/her relatives.
This sentiment that it's egoistic to commit suicide shows a complete lack of understanding of mental pain/illness and ultimately reflects more on the egoistical nature of the people around a person like this.
Not that I think suicide is good, or that it can't be helped. Some attempts are also attention seeking or impulsive acts of the moment, but for many people it's the only way out of a life long life of suffering, try to understand that.
We should do our best to get them on the right track, but calling them egoists or cowards means you don't understand this issue and would not be fit to care for(help) someone like that.

That's how folks roll on YouTube. And Google wanting to change to show peoples real names isn't going to help that either. You can have the most chilled videos and still have folks go internet crazy on ya. There's always someone out there wanting to cause a ruckus on YouTube among a few other places. I tend not to read comments there much these days. People are just rough.
So we've got crowdfunding scams, suicide by overdose, along with a public suicide note and live stream? This is easily the most blatant cry for help/attention i've seen in a long time.

I find it weird the whole she's a man who wants to have a sex change surgery story became so popular just because some random reddit douche thought she looks/sounds like a man and proclaimed so. What? That's all it takes? It's fine to lack trust in such situations but putting all that trust in someone who doesn't even claim to have inside information so merely wants to be a troll and proclaim a random guess as fact? I don't get it.

Well, for one, I think some people can't believe that metal can make someone fatally sick, or that a hospital would leave it in her without doing something about it.
(Personally, I'm allergic to metal, can't wear a watch because of it. And having experienced how awful the medical system is when my mother had cancer, I can believe almost anything about.)
But beyond that, she also mentioned that if she had enough after the first operation, she'd have another, unspecified operation. I think people jumped to conclusions because she didn't mention what it was.
I can't believe I'm the only one here that donated to her. Then again, I seem to be the only one that pledged for an Ouya...

Yeah, really, I made the first thread on GAF about it and watching it unfold that's pretty much all the evidence people had. Some guy saying she looks and sounds like a man in her last video. I'm not saying her story is true, I'm just saying that story came out of nowhere yet somehow established itself. Yes, some people claimed metal poisoning doesn't exist and questioned the second surgery she in passing mentioned she'd like to have beyond the scope of the funding since that part wasn't life threatening (combined with the mention of the metal fragment being in a compromising area I'd personally guess cosmetic surgery to fix potential scarring in places you don't wanna talk about in public) but I don't see how that's 2 + 2 = transexual. Challenging her version of the story isn't equal to validating that story. Especially for someone seemingly open about sexuality related things. If you wanna hide that to be accepted, why not pretend to be straight instead of gay (iirc that was known in the communities she was involved with before any funding attempts)? It could somehow end up being true I guess, sure, she could also turn out to be Dr. Evil trying to raise one million dollars, I just don't see why it's spread as fact. The same goes for the reasons indiegogo took down the campaign. They took it down once, then allowed it to get back on, then took it down again seemingly thanks to the backlash, never making a statement about it either way, with Chloe claiiming they deemed it too risky, rather than validating the transexual story in any way.

In Ireland, a 16 year old terminal cancer patient had a small bit of fame for appearing on the tv and making such ignorant statements like, 'it's a short term solution to a long term problem' and unfortunately he was praised for making these statements. It's not going through shit, it's the aftermath is mental destruction that drains all hope and happiness from you that causes people to do it.

Yes, because somebody who intentionally refers to somebody they believe is trans with the incorrect pronoun and paints them as scammers desperate for surgery (you know, the post in reference to what I quoted) is totally not some sort of bigoted moron and is entitled to their wonderfully informed opinion.
