Indie Games 2016 [March] Nope, still not done

Thanks! 10 Steam keys for the Road to Ballhalla beta, quote to reveal:

Some testers told me that they could only beat it by holding the controller upside down at some sections. :D

Thanks. I took #10. Excited to give this a try.

edit: I'm crazy and made a gyro based config for the Steam Controller. This will not end well.

Interesting - does it scratch that Euro Truck Simulator itch?

Nah, not really. It's probably closer to...hmm...more walking sim, except you're in a bombed out Eastern Euro sedan heading for Dresden with your uncle.

It's odd. It's not hugely captivating, but it's quaint.

Thanks for this. Been looking forward to this game and will definitely try it out this weekend. I took number 8.

Thanks - took the fourth key to try it out :)

Played a bunch the other night. It's very relaxing. Nothing groundbreaking beyond the interactivity under the hood, but a quiet, ruminative experience.
Been following dev for a while, sounds like there's a bit more than that like racing or smuggling stuff. Also the weather effects look pretty good

Personally I just love the concept and how interactive the car is and every step of the journey is, from pumping gas to manually packing your trunk

Yeah, that's the highlight. Mixing oil in the tank, replacing parts, fitting supplies into the boot for the next leg.

But beyond the auto-interactivity, hard to say how it'll resonate with folks.

Man, I really really love Deadbolt. It's just a fantastic game. Favorite game I have played this year.

Are there any other cool 2d indie games that have come out recently, ones that are not too taxing on your machine? I only have my macbook pro 2013, and I bootcamp into windows to play win only games.

I also bought Jotun, because it looked so damned cool, but I got bored after exploring for a bit.

It looks like Hexcells is finally making its way to IOS. https://twitter.com/Ma77hew_Brown/status/711167835289067520
Fantastic! A perfect fit for mobile

Edit: just the first game for now, and could release next month

Oh, it'll definitely be super niche. A super-interactive "immersive sim" roadtrip game? Now that's my kind of game, but might not appeal to many.

Yes, it is. I'm 4 hours in, these damn vampires :p

Cobalt is excellent. I highly recommend it

Take the plan-and-pounce pacing and hectic eruption of chaos seen in games like Hotline Miami or The Swindle and the acrobatic gunplay of a John Woo film, and that would be Cobalt's gameplay in a nutshell. A typical action beat sees you sliding down an embankment, punching a rocket back at a turret, turning mid-slide to shoot a sniper behind you, rolling to deflect bullets, and shooting while rolling to take out enemies above you.

Did you get to any of the bosses in Jotun? The art style and the spectacle of those are the highlights. Also each level has its own unique mechanic

Man, you are much more skilled than me. I think I am like 5 hours in, and I am still only on the headless.

Cobalt does indeed, look very cool. I will buy it next.

I didn't get to any of the bosses. I admit, I was not super patient, but not altogether impatient. I don't know, why I did not give it more of a fair shake. I tend to really like isometric games, but the exploration was not doing much for me. At some point I will try and giving it another shot.

Thankfully Deadbolt is going to keep me occupied for a bit more. When are those digital devolver games that were shown for PS4 at E3? Mother Russia Bleeds, and these two other games. Only Ronin come out last year, but do you know of that other game? And when Mother Russia Bleeds comes out?

Stardew Valley runs pretty well on garbage computers.

It's a farming sim/rpg? You know I am not too into sims, but it does actually look really charming.

There are a few games I feel like I am missing out on by not having a better computer. Mainly, Firewatch and that one first person Space station exploration game.

I wouldn't call it a sim, really. It's like a good Harvest Moon game if you're familiar with that.

There's a ton of content, nicely polished, with a satisying amount of depth to each of its activities. Very relaxing too.

I just gave the demo for Moira a shot and I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend checking it out.

It's an action/exploration platformer that looks and feels like a gameboy game (it even has gbc-like color filters). You're a kid training to be a wizard, and your skill is the ability to mimic other skills. You learn new moves that way, and you're able to then combine powers to come up with even cooler ones.

I liked the demo a lot. It controlled well, looked pretty, and the new skills/combos added a lot to the gameplay. I'd gladly toss 'em $10 or $15 on Steam right now to play the final version. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until next year. It's now up on Kickstarter.

have there been any great couch co-op/competitive games released in the past few months well suited for 3 people?

oh cool Ultimate Chicken Horse finally came out

The Solus Project (Early Acccess/ Xbox Preview) - 14.99€ (PC, Xbox One)

I was just about to write this up - I'm actually working on this game, too. Release just around the corner Dx

Oh that's cool. I always wondered what happened to that team post Ball (as I do with a fair few devs tbh, it seems sadly not too uncommon for devs to go dark shortly after they've released their games.)

The Ball's creator worked on Unmechanical in the meantime in a supportive role, then when that shipped, he went fully into developing Solus :)

I cannot wait for Enter the Gungeon, been super hype for it since it was first announced

same, i have to feed this Nuclear Throne addiction. If it strikes a balance between NT and BoI, it could be something really special.

Jalopy looks super interesting too - fingers crossed.
