IndieGogo - Windows 10 GPD Handheld -299$ "A Laptop Fitting in Your Pocket"

Tried X-Men Legends 2 and it runs well at native...except the screen is rotated.

Assault Android Cactus runs well with drops at 720p low. Odallus is great on the device.

Got my unit today! I've been busy messing around with it tonight. It seems I am one of the lucky ones, I've been playing Rocket League and Dolphin with no issues. Very excited!

So happy everyone is receiving their units.

Going to start winding down the videos about GPDwin soon.

Just have one more longer opening of the 8700 model and an android emulator running decently enough.

I look forward to other people mentioning games that run well.

EDIT

we should make a new tag on Steam, like iGPU are something so it would be easier to find games on Steam.

If one were to want to buy one of these now, is there a reputable place to buy them from?
Depends on where you live.
If you're in the EU you probably wanna order from a EU reseller so you dont get slapped by customs.
So for that you've got geekbuying with their warehouse in Spain, dragonbox.de and micomputer.es
Geekbuying is cheaper than the others but you'll get much better customer service with the other two.
And then for the rest of the world you've mainly got geekbuying and dinodirect with a bunch of smaller resellers elsewhere and gpd's store on aliexpress.
Geekbuying still has the cheapest price currently, dinodirect has a active presence on dingoonity and seems to be a lot easier to deal with if you need to so YMMV.

I'm doing a clean Windows install right off the bat since the pre-installed Win10 on my GPD Win seemed to be borked. Things went wrong after the initial setup.

Tested nullDC and REZ. In full screen it runs allmost all the time at 60 fps *__*

I want to test other Dreamcast games in the next days, any suggestion?

BTW I'm posting from the GPD!

Good news! Gurumin runs at least as good as the 3DS version at medium settings at 720p and 4xAF and looks awesome! Kinda regretting buying the 3DS version now and spending 20 hours to get the first 4 costumes. :(

BTW, looks like the default win key is already taken. I will try the one on the box later, if I decide to do a clean install.

Tried Steam streaming which worked well until my PC's power supply broke, presumably from the storm that's going on. I tried Trails in the Sky on it natively and it works well, but the text is hard to read even with the size boost. I have a feeling the DPI on this thing will cause problems occasionally.

Damn, I bought this thing mainly for that one. Have you tried lowering the resolution of the game?

Zelda Four Swords Adventure plays beautifully on Dolphin. Castlevania Rebirth Wii runs at 60 most of the time. Ghost Squad jumps from 25-30.

Initial testing left me happy. Gonna do a clean install when I can and set it up proper. Only annoyance is sometimes I'll launch a game in mouse mode and have to back out, enable xinput mode, and start it back up.

Also tested Ys 6, runs as good as you'd expect. Had to download another program to deal with X-Men Legends 2's problem of thinking the screen was portrait, but it ran and played great.

Yeah, trying to play fullscreen in another resolution causes the image to be rotated 90 degrees. Not sure what to do about that.

I realize something like text size can be subjective but I was messing around with Trails a bit and didn't find the text too small. A bit small, maybe, but definitely not unreadable.

For reference, I'm playing at 1280x720 borderless window with the large text accessibility checked. Here's what it looks like:

Is this what yours looked like Aeana or is this different?

Got mine today, had the issue where it shuts off after going to sleep while plugged in, and it's running pretty hot in my lap but otherwise seems to be working fine.

Trying to stream Dark Souls 2, then going to try to get it running natively. Really curious to see if it runs better than DS1 is supposed to.

Also want to give diablo 2 a shot, but apparently it still costs twenty smackaroons to get a copy of LoD!? Why!?????

Are you doing a clean windows install? I don't know if I should do it.. What do you recommend. Phawx?

Doing a clean install isn't necessary. It's just something that I prefer to do.

You can get the same effect by running Windows update and then running disk cleanup with Admin Privs to delete Windows.OLD

There is no performance benefit to going to 1607 (anniversary edition). The only thing noteworthy is Windows Subsystem for Linux which I really like, but I don't use my GPDwin as a UMPC.

Just enjoy your device for now, I'm sure there will be someone from the community that develops a batch/reg/program to make the GPDwin lean. Additionally I'm sure someone will create a .wim of an optimized build that you can just image on to your GPDwin sometime in the future.

My only real suggestion for everyone getting 8700 GPDwins is to test the device and make sure it works. 3Dmark2003 is a lite download that is fast to test both your CPU and GPU.

Any suggestions on making text / icons / menu options in Win 10 more readable .. "touchable"?

It seems to small with default 100% scaling @ 720p. But scaling to 150% causes tons of stuff to be cut-off..

you can always use that zoom-in addon phawx linked

Skyrim Special edition only contains graphical enhancements? In this case, is it better to install the old or the special edition? I have read differing reports that the Special edition is better optimised and actually runs better..

Mine's been absolutely perfect so far. Amazing emulation machine and perfect for Steam In-Home Streaming!

The only real issue with this machine is that it doesn't have clickable sticks - games that require L3/R3 are a pain in the ass to play with this thing.

Played 6v6 Overwatch for about 2 hours straight -- performance was a very solid 30fps @ 75C. There was definitely a wow factor of playing such a new game on a handheld device and having it perform really well.

If I go that route do still need to worry about the drivers and all?

My GPD WIN can't yesterday while I was at work. I only got to play around with it a little bit, but Fallout NV crashes after about 10 sec once it's all loaded up and you're looking at 3d environments. Windows gives me a notification that Intel drivers have crashed and recovered. I know other people have had similar problems. Is there a fix for this issue or am I fucked?

Edit: just saw the trick further up the page for Fallout 3 and NV. Hopefully that's my issue. Downloading another 3d game as well as the fix for NV.

I am entirely too stubborn for my own good.
Turned it on this morning and the keyboard works perfectly fine like it hadn't stopped working for the entirety of yesterday with no evidence whatsoever of why it did what it did.
Also browsing through event viewer and found this.
The description for Event ID 0 from source igfxCUIService2.0.0.0 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
Do any of you with a working or otherwise device have this error?

Glad it's working well for you, working on a large update that includes hardware decoding that should help out on low powered devices like this (as long as the hardware supports video decoding of course).

hey mate i saw you updated your app
since i downloaded the last one, input lag is much higher , in same condition :(

Anyone had their order from the Spanish GB warehouse? The spanish website tracking info says delivered but I've not had anything. Kinda hoping it means it's been delivered to a UK courier, but I don't have any tracking info for that if so. Trying to get in touch with GB now to figure it out.

Has anyone who purchased their GPD Win through GeekBuying and still stuck in Hong Kong contacted GB? If so, what did they say?

If not, I'm going to contact them.

I just emailed them yesterday. No answer yet. Starting to get pretty worried it's lost.

There's been a Fed Ex label created, but it hasn't gotten stateside yet...

yeah, same boat. I'll hold off on emailing and worrying until next week.

Edit-
On second thought, given that our order numbers are similar, I feel like something MAY have happened. Im going to email them.

My hands are killing me today after using my GPD Win for a few hours last night :( I'm not sure why I thought this would be different from the pain I get from 3DS XL. Maybe I can retrofit one of my 3DS XL grips.

Nothing regarding input (besides some fixes for Dualshock detection which wouldn't make a difference) has changed. It must some other factor at work.

Uh ok will see again. I tried last of us. Any recommendation for network setting or stay at 1200?

I noticed yesterday that the "A" key on my keyboard only works if I push it pretty hard. Also, on my second unit, the R2 button's microswitch seems to be slightly misaligned.

Phawx or anyone else who has opened this thing up, should it be pretty easy to open it and re-seat the keyboard/check out the shoulder button and fix it? I've opened other handhelds before with no issues but just wanna make sure I don't screw something up.

I tried out Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines on my GPD Win. It seems to be playable 40-60 FPS @ 720p res. However, I noticed that my device gets hot as hell and that's with fans at max.

Tried a couple PC games I had on my laptop. Far Cry 2, 720p, all low. Runs decently well. Alpha Protocol, at 720p low it greatly fluctuates depending on the environment; not unplayable, but dropping the resolution keeps it smooth. The lock picking mini-game is a headache without analog triggers, so you need to switch to mouse mode and back to complete it.

Device gets hot playing them, mainly around the keyboard.

Probably been asked a million times. Where is the best place to order from to the states? Been looking at a number of micro PC devices to tinker with and this thing checks off a few more ticks being basically a handheld.

Screwing around and found some stuff.
With Intel's drivers uninstalled it reverts to basic Microsoft drivers.
Torchlight did not crash although I only ran it for roughly a minute and it was useless since I was getting single digit frame rates, screen brightness stays at 100% with no way to dim and something I found very interesting.
Without the Intel drivers installed the fan would stay running when the screen was shut off.
Once the drivers were installed the fan would shut off when the screen is shut off.
I don't know why or how its linked but I found that interesting, I had assumed before the fan power was linked to the lcd power but I guess not?
