IndieGogo - Windows 10 GPD Handheld -299$ "A Laptop Fitting in Your Pocket"

Dark Souls Portable, now New Vegas Portable, and I didn't even consider Diablo II LoD Portable until just now..
This thing is sounding better and better all the time. If it can run Persona 4 I can finally become a hermit.

I used to own an ASUS T100 which ran on the Intel Baytrail chipset. It wasn't exactly a gaming powerhouse, but it was surprising what ran. I had posted a ton of videos to show performance, so I can imagine that everything that ran decent for the T100 would be perfectly fine on the GPD Win:

Just the thought of being able to play something like Just Cause 2 or even Skyrim on the go is really starting to making me cave.

Thanks for sharing. Surprising that you were able to run GTA IV.

There are a ton of performance mods for Skyrim, I do hope it will be possible to get it running smoothly. Maybe run it in 240p and throw in some cinematic ENB, make it look and run like Daggerfall.

Lots of requests for AAA games... I guess I'm the anomaly here. I think it's a perfect fit to access my Steam library indie games, like Owlboy. No issue running Steam on two pieces of hardware, right? My desktop and this.

I've got my steam account on multiple machines without issue, just had to jump through the verification hoops and whatnot.

I think many of us here expect to be using it primarily for PC indies, especially for games like Owlboy. However, some of use are generally just curious what it's capable of.

I'd be curious how well the Shadowrun RPGs (Returns/Dragonfall/Hong Kong) work on this.

They are not exactly 3D powerhouses, but also not tiny 2D indie things that should run on a toaster.

It would be fun to test it with a bunch of different isometric RPGs and RTSs. I haven't played the Shadowrun games, but if they are turn based I imagine they could still be fun to play with a low frame rate.

That being said, definitely going to try Valkyria Chronicles, although I've a feeling it won't run so well.

Watching Phawx's Xbox One streaming video the other day makes me look forward to replaying Lost Odyssey and RDR on the GPD Win.
Normally I wouldn't care about the XB1 streaming feature but the idea of streaming backwards-comptatible 360 games to a handheld device like the GPD Win suddenly seems appealing to me.

No, I'm mostly excited for Indie games, like Stardew Valley. It's just icing on the cake that I could potentially play Fallout:NV on portable (!).

Those run fine on my Surface Pro 3 despite throttling (have the i7 model) and even run OK on the iPad. I would think this device would be alright at low settings.

This is gonna be my steam indie machine (or anything I can get to run)
This will do wonders since I have alot of games in my backlogs that looks to run well plus i prefer handheld gaming

Im just curious how this thing will last on my commute or trips (Battery life is a big deal for me) I got a nice case with room to hold an external power source for it ready to go

I'm actually curious how this thing will charge with a portable charger. Thanks to Pokemon Go I now have a collection of them.

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door

This games runs exceedingly well.

Never played it but I will soon, the GPD Win is going to give me an excuse to play alot of games I have missed especially indies, just something about a handheld that makes you want to play more.
HOWEVER even tho It plays really well that IS on the Z8750 and not the Z8700 (the one were all getting) so im really worried about performance on some of these games, mainly emulators, even if its not big a small difference could mean stable or not stable FPS.

Currently messing with the BIOS like a madman. I've opened up my GPU to freely go to 600Mhz, but it throttles pretty damn quick when things get hot. It's hilarious because it'll be at 600Mhz idling and then in game will drop to 400.

I've done switched a lot of switches. I really think I need to explore improving the heatsink before moving on.

Edit: also I wouldn't get too hung up on the 8750/8700 thing. Pretty sure things will be smooth for all. Also when Intel does finally get around to having stable Vulkan drivers we're going to see some awesome stuff. Lots of good stuff to look forward to.

When do you think you're gonna tackle the heatsink? And how tricky do you think it'll be?

I'm curious how xenoverse will run on it

How to remote play PS4 with it ? Without a DS 4 of that is

I saw some vids of xenoverse running well(just the beginning of the game) and it looked pretty playable (probably 25-30 maybe)

As for PS4 streaming. You might need to look for a workaround of some sort as I don't think it's possible due to the ds4 requirements

There's an unofficial PS4 remote play app for PC someone made that allows you to remap buttons to any controller. I remember buying it before the official Sony app was announced but turns out it may still be useful.

This will be the device I knock out a lot of my steam backlog on. I am hoping the older final fantasies run OK and some of the RPG makers stuff I have gotten through buying bundles

Anything more AAA I will still play on the other PCs

Do you guys know if the Steam Version of Darkest Dungeon supports gamepad controls?

Why tho?

Yes, I too am more interested in games that are uniqute to the system. These games to go is pretty cool.
  • Chroma Squad
  • Don't Starve
  • Galak-Z
  • Gigantic Army
  • Gunhound EX
  • SteamWorld Dig/Heist
Beyond a universal benchmark for these devices, I don't understand why emulators is seemingly the main attraction. There have been portable emulators for over a decade.

There are some emulators that are either exclusive to x86 or just run much better on x86. Having said that, I'll start putting up some vids soon

I wonder if Valkyria Chronicles runs on it. Would be great *wink wink*
Also it seems that GPD sells spare parts for GPD Win. I'd love them to sell that metal/aluminium back they once planned to use for the GPD Win.

Many of you may not have been aware but I've been tinkering with the GPDWin and noticed that my GPU was locked to 400Mhz whenever my CPUs kicked into gear. You can see it quite clearly in my other videos.

Well I finally unlocked it. :D

GPU forced to stay at 600Mhz

For reference this is the best score from the reddit guy with an 8700:

And for those at home counting:

that's a 7.6% increase in score.

Great work Phawx! Is Super Mario Galaxy playable now?! Haha, had to ask.

I wish he'd test more native titles and less emulators, but hey, he's already doing more than anyone would expect him to. I wish we could see Falcom games running, like Trails in the Sky or Ys Origin.

Oh, both fantastic choices. Though I was an avid member of VitaGAF not too long ago, of course I like your taste :)
