So my 8700 GPDWIN has a bios date of 10/18/2016
That's a bit newer than the one I updated to a week ago.
Anything different or gimped in tge revision?

There seems to be one change that enabled turboth from the get go
That's about it.
I found a change!
The A button is yellow and not green.

Ooooooo shit. Yo guys
Looks like the 8700 might be better than the 8750.
I gotta do some more testing.
Metrold Prime is 50FPS out of the box.
Edit: well I changed the battery saver in gpu settings in windows
Damn, GPD wasn't lying about the issues? Interested to hear more.

Display driver failed 8 times in 6 minutes
:/
Time to figure this out.
So... In the light of this... Which one will you keep Phawx ?![]()
Both natch
But I'm going to use the silver shim on the 8700. I think I'll use a copper shim on the 8750.
Sorry doing this from my phone, could someone post the vid on indiegogo? Might make people a bit happier to have the 8700
Music to my ears. I wouldn't mind seeing a test comparing BSNES being run on both.
DinoDirect still hasn't shipped out preorders![]()
Well this is an interesting turn of events. Can't wait to try PCSX2 again on this and see if there are any improvements there.
Did 3DMark give any significant results?
CPU or GPU socres, Pawg?
Doing everything from my phone right now. I'll get the results from the two for you soon.
Sorry for the delay on stuff, just want to get my system where I like it before installing stuff.
Here is my best 8750 score: http://www.3dmark.com/cg/3831699

Funfact: It took raising the throttle crazy high on the 8750 to get that score. That 8700 score is with default latest bios (2 changes I did GPU Turbo enable plus setting memory timings to fast) and all battery options enabled. If I raise the throttle limit, scores on the 8700 plummet.
Hey man, those are the same links.
haha, woops!
Fixed.
Also Skyrim comparison video incoming. Spoiler: 8700 wins again. Not as drastic as Metroid. But it's 10-15%ish
Skyrim comparison video up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf00PT69txg
How could a better processor result in worse performance? Must be a driver issue or some other tweaks.Fascinating. Could it be that GPD was actually telling the truth about the 8750?

Yea, Intel did something with the GPU that clearly wrecked performance. I'm only guessing that it's the fix they did for transparency textures. Because otherwise, the GPU are exactly the same. Same amount of EU. Same Frequency. Same generation.
Truly vexxing.
Someone on Dingoonity is saying their 8750 version is playing Metroid Prime faster than mine. So maybe it's just mine?
Hey phawx could you try running warframe on it I am very curious how it preforms with low settings. Also do you have a link showing how to do the heatsink mod you've been talking about doing.
I haven't done the mod yet. The 8700 being better than my 8750 has put the brakes on. I'm not sure what I should be doing at this point.

Looking at the follow up video another 8750 posted and it would seem that your performance is a QC issue?
The fps difference between the working metroid prime 8750 and 8700 seems to be between 1-3fps depending on the scene.
Yea, haha, looks like I may have got a bum 8750. Or the heatsink wasn't properly done. They taped up the entire heatsink.

I'm not going to wait for my silver shim because I don't even know if this is going to work. But I'll give it a go.
Looking at another Metroid Prime video on 8750, the guy seems to get similar performances as your. I think it really may be related to 8750.
Yea it's just my specific 8750. I'm trying to fix the heatsink now. I've literally done everything. Tons of different drivers, tons of different BIOS, tons of different Dolphin configs.
if you correct about that freaking tape phawx maybe you should report it to gpd and see what they say. maybe theyll switch back to the 8750 if they can fix the tape issue.
Seeing as two people already did the Metroid prime test and are pulling 47 FPS whereas I pull 30 FPS in that area, I think it's just mine.
This 8750 has a 9/9/16 sticker on the inside. This was literally one of the first 8750's to be made. It might have been returned from a JD.com person and they just shipped it back out. Who knows. If the shim doesn't work, I'll see if I can go about getting it exchanged.
I already applied the copper shim to the heatsink and removed a square from the tape. Here's hoping that this fixes the problem.
the peoples whos 8750 work might have gotten a later off the production line version and they might not have the tape on it. well have to see if your fix helps.
Wait, there was tape a take between the heatsink and the CPU!?
