IndieGogo - Windows 10 GPD Handheld -299$ "A Laptop Fitting in Your Pocket"

I know this is way premature, but...

The performance for this first batch of x86 windows handhelds (GPD Win, Smach Zero) seems really awesome! That said, how much better could a theoretical "next year's model" be? Is it possible we could see PS4/XB1 games running at playable framerates/low settings/720p before those consoles are retired?

Can't wait for all the Wiki's and lists of what games run at what settings once everyone has theirs and has tried everything out.

These are already niche devices as it is, and a very expensive, large device is probably not going to sell well. I'd venture a guess that no, probably not. The Switch will probably get some multi platform games and ports though.

They've finally updated the tracking numbers with a ton more added.
Mine's been shipped, it way picked up sometime in the past 36 hours and DHL's tracker estimates it'll arrive tomorrow by end of day.
Also as a warning a ton of people have been getting hit by customs in the UK.

On Geekbuying you can now purchase stock from Spain which ships between 2-3 days, for an extra £25.

The mrs said she would buy it for me for Christmas so I've decided to take the plunge and throw in a pre-order.

I saw that GPD posted some new tracking numbers for IGG. Does anyone know what the range is of these new order numbers (IGG backing number)?

Got a call from DHL today about it. I reckon I'm going to be hit by this.

Crap, didn't think about import tax. Going to cancel my pre-order and pay the extra to get it from the Spanish warehouse instead, no import tax and it will be here much sooner.

It's really hard to tell: it jumps around a lot. The "October 31" file goes up to 15586304. There are some high numbers in the "DHL" file early on (goes up to 17487283), but it seems to sort of go in order after that, up to 15609574.

Other than asking people to check, there's also no way to translate the "IGG Pledge ID" to "GPD Win Order ID," but counting the non-header rows in the documents:
DHL - 489
Oct 19 - 80
Oct 22 - 80
Oct 25 - 294
Oct 31 - 81

Total: 1024 dispatched

I think I saw Order IDs up to 2300 or so, so they are under halfway done with dispatching.

im still not in...

half of IGG sent...maybe within 10 days then

Yeah, doing a simple extrapolation, it took them 11 days to send 1024 units. That's approximately 93 units/day.

(2400-1024) = 1376 units remaining
1376 units / 93 units per day = 14.8 ~= 15 days

Give it ~two weeks for shipping, and you are looking at the end of November for delivery to orders in the back of the queue. That's what I'm expecting at least (backer in the 2200 range).

Just got a text message from DHL - €50 import duties...

Ah well, it's coming at least.

If it's not already included they'll add a handling fee too, they're totally illegal and you can just send them an email telling them you won't pay it. Plenty of templates people have posted if you Google, worked for me every time.

My Geekbuying EMS shipment just made it through ISC SAN FRANCISCO, which I'm assuming also means it cleared customs. It should be coming this week, then, because at this point it's treated like a USPS Express shipment and I'm only a couple of states away from California.

Edit: I lied, just got a follow-up status update, inbound into customs now. Go GPD, go!

Edit 2: Looks like it cleared customs with haste this morning, and just arrived at a USPS location in San Francisco. At this point it could even come tomorrow, maybe? Won't get my hopes up too high, though.

Yep. DHL are outright scammers. How are they still in business I'll never know.

I have an actual review coming this week probs.

Got xubuntu running. Hopefully I can get the latest Dolphin Build and hopefully I can install the latest mesa drivers

Someone in California has a Z8750 model on eBay.
Not sure if any of you might be interested in it.
There's a little less than 2 days to go and it has 1 bid for $299 so far.

The last shipping update I had when I left for work this morning showed the package had left Hong Kong and I just rechecked tracking and its now in Cincinnati Ohio.
I misread the time this morning but its been roughly 40 hours since DHL picked up the package from GPD in Shenzhen, nearly half of which has been of it on a cargo aircraft.
GPD definitely did not cheap out when it came to shipping.

Wow, that's impressive. I guess my "assume two weeks for shipping" line above was off-base. But off-base in the good direction!

I was thinking about the shipping too the other day -- they must've taken quite a hit on the logistics, but I guess it makes up for the previous delay.

crossing my fingers so hard right now

My 8750 is running Xubuntu quite well and is currently taking it's sweet time compiling vulkan drivers.

I seriously hope they work.

Argh, that's a bummer. Saw your video that KH was running well on it and thought other games would fare just as well :(

Are you planning on making more PCSX2 tests/videos?

Yea, right now I just want to show off Linux running and hopefully a working vulkan driver and Pillars of Eternity.

I was going to do 2D PS2 games sometime later.

Did all IGG backers get this address incomplete email?

I did as well. And my order ID number is in the 1600's. I downloaded the tracking spread sheet and those numbers have more digits than my order ID one. They told me to look for my pledge ID number and I have no clue what and where the hell that is on indiegogo. I have no clue whether mine shipped, didn't ship yet, or even if they have all of my information complete in order to ship one to me in the first place.

got mine

What's the general concensus for emulation :
-n64
-psx
-ps2
-gamecube
-dreamcast

?

and phawx what is your software for framerate checking?

Thanks

Your pledge ID should have been included in your Contribution Confirmation email from IndieGogo. I don't know any other way to find it.
