inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

I'm fukkin loving it!

A couple of things...

I knew the music was going to be AMaZING, but you can't beat actually hearing it during the gameplay, just feels so badass.

The dead drops are awesome and remind me of the recordings in Bioshock.

Been upgrading my damage intake to start as other people have suggested, has paid off big so far.

The opening was awesome, I've been REALLY impressed with the story and presentation so far.

When it hits 60fps it's such a massive cock tease :P

Platforming has been brilliant so far.

Just put in a 4 hours into the game. Wow it is fun. I'm having a blast looking for blast shards and doing side missions. I decided to play the hero role on my first playthrough then evil on my second on hard. I assume that is how most other people are doing it to? It seems to get all the trophies you have to play through at least twice so.

I went in to buy it this morning, but fucking video game prices are 80 dollars after the taxes in Canada.

Fuck that.

After one of you is done with it, contact me and I'll buy it from someone for 60. I really want this game, but I won't stand to get raped in the ass by this industry.

get it on AMAZON.CA

do they still charge taxes?

Thanks alot buddy, I'll check now! :)

http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000ZK7ZOE/

No cigar, 70 dollars + shipping, + taxes.

I'll just get it on ebay when people are done with the SP campaign.

Seriously, I don't wanna sound like a stingy bastard or anything but I've been looking forward to this game for a long time, and 80 just DOESN'T fit my budget.

As for everything else, yeah, when it comes down to it, none of those complaints really matter because they are smaller details but it'd have been nice to have them polished up a bit... after all, this game has been done for at least a month and all. :lol
I cant read that spoiler yet :(

My only real nitpick against this game is that he doesnt "vault" over things. It would make escaping alot easier especially when youre trying to navigate around cars.

And a quick story question for anyone here. Whenever Im around people say something smells. Are they implying that Cole smells like ass because he cant shower?

Yup, that's why it annoys me more than the framerate drops. I can't help but think what the game would be like if it was entirely locked at 60 fps.

I hope I never get to the point where I can notice things like this. Seems like it would make everything a lot less enjoyable.

When you get to the boss of the first island, move the camera around a bit in the room before you start the fight. You'll notice how smoothly the camera turns and how fast it seems. Then start the fight and notice how it seems not so smooth anymore. That's the only point I've really noticed this so far.

Man this game is fun! I just got my power line grind ability.. should make it allot easier to get around. I love the story, combat, and platforming. I'm really tempted to go evil but I'll do that on the second play through. I noticed the jaggies more in the retail copy then in the demo for some reason but trust me, it doesn't get in the way. The smaller in-game cut scene animations (like when Cole is talking to someone) seem a little off but other then that its fine. Story so far is awesome, presentation is really good.. I love the voice work too. Music is top-notch as well. The acrobatic stuff is amazing! I keep doing all sorts of crazy combos. If you like Crackdown this game is like 5 times better. Its a buy IMO.. especially if they add DLC. Also co-op would have been awesome(not complaining just saying)

You dont ever wanna be at that point. I observe gamers like that and it makes me sad wondering what its like.

What's not to notice? The game at some points will miraculously become smoother and faster, it's hard to miss even for someone who don't care about framerate consistency. Like I said, it's a cock tease, not a game breaker.

Yeah when it jumps up to 60fps it looks soooo good and smooth. But most of the time it doesn't go bellow 30fps(from what I've played so far)

I wasn't trying to call you out on it or anything. Just saying, it's probably something that you'd want to be able to unsee but won't ever be able to.

This game is electrifying -IGN.com

Really good so far.

How do I get the gigawatt blades? I entered the code before playing and I don't have them in my menu.

I would also love to know this. I've been searching for it in the powers menu, but so far nothing.

Loving the game. Spent almost the entire day today playing it. Although - I'm slightly confused. I have a question though for those that are beyond the the 2nd/3rd mission on the 2nd Island. When you finish the mission 'An Old Friend'
you get negative karma. Why? You saved two engineers, you restored bridge access, and you helped out your ex. Why in the world did I get negative karma?

I really like this game, reminds me a lot of Crackdown.

The only thing that bugs me out of the whole package is the horrrrrrrrrrrrrrible animating of the character's faces when they're talking. They look like ventriloquist dummies.

Have you exited the game for the first time yet? Menu > save (after mission) > quit > go back into game.

Thats what I had to do.

I know it was asked before but where can I check how many blast shards I've found?

I know for sure that if you go to your saved games it tells you how many total you've collected. There has to be an easier way than that though.

At the save screen.

Those things are addictive:lol I like the fact that shards and dead drops show up on the map. After a while it becomes a pain hunting for hidden items, even with a guide.

Thanks. That's all I've been doing.

So far my biggest problem with inFAMOUS is how much it feels like Sly Cooper. Don't get me wrong, Sly is awesome and I still think it's the best of the PS2 platformer trifecta, but I don't like it here. It makes climbing around kind of annoying because it breaks the sense of momentum and has to make me rethink my moves. Sure, part of the problem is that I want to move around the world like I would in Assassin's Creed, Bionic Commando or Crackdown, but I really wish I didn't have to either jump or hit Circle to go off the edge of a building or ledge or something any time I want to drop down. There's something to be said about having enough sticky to make the platforming accessible and way less punishing than in those other games, but it also takes out some of the fun and reward of climbing and moving around the environment. I also really wish the shards would just stay on my radar once they show up so I don't have to keep hitting L3 to make sure I'm on top of them, but that's just more of a nitpick.

Other than that, dude, this game's totally rad! I only wish those jerk-offs at Gamestop gave me my Gigawatt Blades code! :\

I absolutely hate collect-a-thon's. Never play them, always skip the collection bullshit. However, for some reason I have done nothing but grab shards in this game. I just spent two hours collecting shards and dead drops. It is an absolute blast. I love this damn game.

dralla said:
so there's no 'fast travel' is there? aside from using the train tracks I mean

Nope, and I prefer it that way. Nothing wrong with pickin up a shard, dead drop, and some xp for killing baddies on the way to my objective. Plus once you upgrade your abilities, the platforming is zen-like, its a beautiful thing.

My only problem with the game are the characters and the voice acting. "Hey, I did the best I could." "Well, it's not enough, PEOPLE ARE DYING!" Not my fault you bitch, I DID THE BEST I COULD. Also your friend is just nails on a chalk board annoying. Great, great game though, I just beat the mission where you pick your poster in the middle.

I really wish I didn't know what was going to happen when I pressed the start button. For those few that buy this game and didn't have prior knowlege of that, they are in for a massive treat. Amazing job on just the opening Sucker Punch. I've never seen anything quite like that before.

So the dead drops give you good back ground info?

:lol :lol This is exactly how I feel.

I've been playing for about 4 and a half hours straight now (something I NEVER do anymore) and it's a fucking blast so far. Wooooooooo.

Question: Is ANYONE doing Evil their first time through?

Yeah most definitely. I would suggest getting them on pace with the main missions... otherwise they might tip you off about the story if you get them all before reaching the last third of the game.

I don't really know, I've only found a handful of em. They're just actually fun to get.

Yea thats good to,if they are not fun to find some people will not have the motivation to go on :lol

Does the game end when you finish the final thing or does it send you back into the city with all of your powers forever?

I generally play through the main story and don't give a shit about the side stuff. For this game it's just so damn fun to get random shit that it's pretty much all I've done in the first few hours.

I'm going Evil on my first play through.

Hi all - VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION (okay, not really, but it's bugging me).

I started a game on the default difficulty (Normal) and when I completed the first twenty minutes it automatically upgraded me to "HARD" difficulty, and I have left it on Hard.

Does this mean I will not get the "Hard Finish" trophy because the first twenty minutes was on the default normal setting?

Does anyone know? Because if so, that will royally piss me off.

Oh, and the game is fantastic.

I came here to post this exact question!

Though I changed it to Hard manually, I think right after the tutorial phase. I'd be pissed if I can't get that Trophy. Why wouldn't it ask before the game started? Ugh.
