inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Finally got around to playing this after beating both Uncharted 2 and Batman AA. This game is fucking ugly, huh? The jaggies are just horrendous, but and it's a big BUT it's pretty goddamn fun to play. I'm on day 17 and the game starts to become a lot more versatile once you upgrade your abilities. I think my favorite sections of the game are the platforming sewer missions.

How far into the game am I? Anybody know? I am playing the story missions only for now.

note to Sucker Punch: please shine this shit up for Cell when you make the sequel. Thanks.

It was comparable (graphically) if not better than any other open world game that I can think of on consoles, but the jaggies were noticeable. The gameplay was close to perfect, although at times too much auto aim/stickiness with the jumping. I can't wait to see if there is a sequel of if they do a Sly game as hinted at.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it appears that inFAMOUS is going platinum in europe and should be available very soon for a "should pick this up if i didn't before" price (for such a good game). I saw it on a promotion from TheHut.

What about the US? It's $29.99 on Ebay brand new but all the other retailers are still selling it at full price.

Just completed the game as a Hero (Hard difficulty). I have all the Stunts, and all of the Good Missions completed. I am now searching for shards before starting as Evil.

However, the 2nd and 3rd island aren't complete yet, there are still some spots which need cleaning up, but there are no missions showing up on the map. Will they appear over time?

Just go to these spots and kill some enemies, they will pop up soon then :)

Surprised to see this thread on the front page, but definitely glad. More people need to play inFAMOUS... its in my top 5 list this year. In no order...

UC2
KZ2
inFAMOUS
Batman: AA
AC2

For an open world game, the controls are beyond compare. They made me nostalgic the last 3-4 days I was playing Assassins Creed 2.

Hopefully they'll make enough money back to justify doing a sequel to it. I really enjoyed the game, apart from the first couple of hours which were very slow. For me the story didn't really grab me much at the start, but that certanly changed later on and the weaponry Cole had was utterly badass :)

I'd love another Sly Cooper game, but I think I'd prefer another one of these..

How did you get AC2 early?

Definitely man... I was very happy with the leak about the voice actor casting, cuz that hopefully proves they are making inFAMOUS 2... As much as I like Sly Cooper, I would LOVE to have the sequel to inFAMOUS. They had such a great way to end the game, that they leave you wanting more! The gameplay was sick and I cant wait to see what tweaks, if any, they do in the sequel. I'd be ok with the same powers as long as they expand on the universe and make a compelling story.

I got KZ2 5 days early, LBP 3 weeks early (it was delayed 1 week, so...), UC2 3-4 days early, AC2 4 days early etc etc.

I live in NYC boss. If you do, let me know and I can let you in on a few dirty little secrets. :D

Nope :(.

Live in Ireland. I hate you so much right now it hurts.:lol

I just found my 350th blast shard! Took all afternoon! That was a little on the painful side, it would have been nice to be told how many are left per island, but never mind. It's not a requirement in the game so its not a major issue.

Just started going back through the game as Evil, its a lot of fun causing shit around the city :D The
Lightning Storm
ability can't come soon enough!

yea inFamous was crazy good, the story was surprisingly good and the gameplay was pure bliss. The ending was so good, even though i realized it like 10 secs before it was revealed

I think I'm on the home stretch, awesome game although it was a slow burn. Quick question for anyone who's beaten it.
If I clear all the areas on all the islands, will there be anything to fight after I beat the game?

Very little, not enough to attempt leveling up anymore. I'd suggest doing some missions (quit before finishing and do again) if you don't have all the powers and want Platinum.

Platinum!

Fuck me I loved this game, and playing as evil was a great way to finish my play through of the game. Sadly I don't have anyhing to go back to now, there are some other yellow missions as Evil, but I have done them all as Good anyway (I have done the 15 Evil Side missions of course).

Thinking about it, this might very well be my GOTY2009...

Wow, Loved every minute on my Good play through on Normal. Working on a Hard Evil play through along with the Shards, Dead Drops and Stunts.

Only complaints are the fact that there is now way to keep track of what has been found/collected. They should have done a Map/Info page similar to what Burnout Paradise did with their Map of the Stunts/Crashes/Billboards. Other than that maybe have the Trains connect so one could travel from Island to Island much faster.

This game is my GOTY as well.

Loved Uncharted 2. Loved Demon's Souls. Loved Assassin's Creed 2. Loved Borderlands.

But for some reason, I keep coming back to inFamous.

inFamous is my gameplay game of the year. Uncharted 2 may be an all-around better package but no other game feels as solid and great to play as the controls in inFamous.

And one special final note, we’d like to send out congratulations to Sucker Punch Productions as inFAMOUS has sold over 1.2 million copies as of October 2009 – congrats guys!
Nice!

Let's hear about inFamous 2 please!

Beat this game a week or two ago. Final assessment: Good but not great.

LOVED:
The powers
The design of the main character
Grinding powerlines and gliding
The illusion of time limits, without actually having time limits

DIDN'T LIKE:
Having 100 enemies thrown at me in every mission
Game difficulty overall- hard and frustrating (I played on easy)

HATED:
The story. Atrocious. Would have really just preferred superhero in a city fighting crime than all the nonsense.

Like I said though overall I liked it and would be very interested in a sequel.

I've never understood the difficulty complaints about the game, even on hard the game isn't very difficult.

Using buildings (whether you were on the ground or hanging from one) for cover was important though, so I wonder if those who found it hard were just going in guns blazing.

I passed this game on Normal and Hard, I found the fact that every enemy was a damn sharp shooter during my Hard play through kind of cheap. Other than that I didn't find it that Hard overall.

Yeah.... umm... no.
Game was EAAASSSYYY ... one of the easiest games i've played in a while actually. I played Hard on my first play through and never ever thought it was overly challenging.

Were you playing very conservatively? Not using powers enough? I never found it to be that difficult, even on hard there were only a few moments I ever felt truly overwhelmed. There would be times I'd die and realize I was just spamming the main attack, go back and unleash all hell on everyone and that would be it.

What exactly did you not like about the story, I thought it was pretty well done and a great setup for future iterations. The twist especially I thought was handled really well... Anyways, to each their own right? Glad to see they passed the million milestone, but far more people should play this game, definitely one of my favorites of the year. I think it was my first Platinum too :)

1.2 million sales so far are quite nice for a new IP on a console that had install base problems.
Apart from the Prototype situation the game had a good release date pre E3.

I was hoping for a patch to fix/add some small tweaks like displaying how many shards per island you have picked up, fix some of the small bugs with Cole thinking he is sliding off on flat surfaces in 2-3 particular places.

It's a superhero origin story, I much prefer this than just fighting crime which is quite boring like spiderman 3, plus an origin story you can have the character gain power one by one as well as character growth, it makes sense. >:|

Thank you, sucker punch for made such a great game and give us free the gigawatt blades!! yuhuuuu!

Now, at this 2009 ending I can say that this is, at least for me, one of the 5 best games of the year and, probably, the best superhero game I've ever played

I'm more hyped for an hypothetical second part of inFAMOUS than for GT5 or GOW3

Good news about the sales, and I'll snag the Gigawatt Blades once they're available.

I still dream of some new mission/pack (Cole escapes from city or something), but the sequel is already bought in my mind.

The enemies I can sorta see, but the game was easy, even on hard. Especially later--the Good side is a easier than Evil, but nothing quite compares to being an vulenrable, bad-ass hero. It brought back memories of something Wolverine (Millar) said during the "Enemy of the State" storyline--street guys have to be the best. They're not gods, not invulnerable and need to heal and typically face people who want them dead, period.

Looking back, I think that this is what Infamous got right more than anything--being a powerful, but still vulnerable hero.

I was addicted to infamous for about a month straight, needing to play both hero and villain. It is a great game, though after beating both versions of the game I don't feel the need to go back to it any time soon (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

I agree. I think at a micro level they got it right, because each encounter you're never over-powering which is a BIG problem anytime a game gives the player super-powers, in this game enemies don't become just fodder, and the challenge is preserved because it's not about the game simply throwing massive number of enemy waves at the player and the player remains vulnerable. Even the platforming they got it right, it remains platforming, instead of having buildings being just pure obstacles, the player is actively engaged in jumping and gliding and grinding rails. I think people are too hard on the game's looks, for an open-world game it's very good-looking, with obviously some compromises made in terms of AA and shadow quality, plus some draw-in, but then it's an open-world game, Batman AA was mentioned in this thread but Batman AA is NOT all that good-looking not to mention it's basically a hub world.
