Injustice 2 has made me a DC fan, and I hated DC

So I'll get this out of the way, I'm not a comic book fan at all. Marvel or DC. Don't care about them at all.

I do like Marvel stuff though. I used to watch all the Spiderman, Xmen cartoons. Love the Marvel movies. Marvel games, etc. Spiderman is my favourite superhero.

On the DC side, I felt absolutely nothing for the characters. Batman was great (and his villains), but that was the extent of my interest. I think Superman is an uninteresting character. Typical 1 dimensional good guy with every power imaginable, and can't die or something.

As for everyone else, I can barely even name them. I always thought Wonder Woman was a stupid character. Lasso of truth? LOL. Come on. Nice bare chest, and United States of America panties.

But recently I watched a full playthrough of Injustice 2.

I must say, I was WRONG. This was the most badass thing I have seen in a while. Batman was great of course, but Wonder Woman blew my socks off. She was my favourite character! Like, I legit want a whole game revolving around her. I loved her.

Superman was great, and I loved what they did with him in this story, making him a badguy (?).

But it was the minor characters that really stood out to me. The relationship between black canary and green arrow. The fight between flash and reverse flash. Pretty much everything of Harley Quinn.

But yeah, this game has made me look into DC stuff I missed. I am looking to buy the Justice League animated show and watch that. (Didn't know what the hell Justice League was in the game)

Kinda not interested in the Wonder Woman movie though for some reason. I think its the actress. I want the video game version, haha. The video game version seems so badass. The movie version kinda feels.....dainty? I dunno.

Also, props to the developers on the facial animations. God damn. Not saying it beats Uncharted 4, but fuck, its gotta be close.

Im right there with you, been getting into DC animated movies and certain comics because of both inJustice games.

I actually kinda hated how they did Wonder Woman here.
She was a straight up cold-hearted bitch.

That being said, the story mode was incredibly well done. And it felt a lot more fun than the recent DCEU movies.

You've picked a good time to start liking DC too. Rebirth has been a pretty solid event so far.

Wonder Woman has always been an exceptionally disciplined hero who pushes her military upbringing in her beliefs and ideals.

For example, she has no problem breaking Max Lord's (basically DC's Purple Man) neck after he takes over Superman's and other metahumans minds.

Neither Superman nor Bats has the stomach to do what needs to be done when absolutely necessary.

Over generalization, and I definitely don't agree. See anything Mark Wade has done on Marvel for extraordinary character work.

Both universes have their highs and lows, usually tied to creators imo.

I will say DC became much less interesting when they start forcing all their artists to use the same art style during New 52. I'm assuming that's over now, but gee golly was it an awful idea.

Some of the characters felt goofy and the power levels were all over the place by necessity (it's a fighting game after all) but damn it was certainly a good ride.

For DC in the other media space, you want Justice League and Justice League unlimited, followed by Young Justice. You could also try Assault on Arkham as an animated film.

Batman TAS has some good episodes but also some pretty garbage ones and isn't as consistent as Young Justice. Worth watching if you get into the other stuff and are thirsty for more. Superman TAS and Batman Beyond are also places to go.

For movies it's really only Batman and Superman movies worth watching. I haven't seen Swamp Thing though... maybe that's good.

More or less this

There are choice episodes to catch from all of these if you don't want to/can't watch them all, but still (all of justice league unlimited season 1 tho, at least, especially if you like Injustice). Seeing these characters interact across these media was fantastic.

Add the Batman Beyond movie too, after the show, but before JL/JLU.

Fair enough, and yeah they scrapped the New 52 house style methodology a while ago.

Still, currently DC has been killing it while Marvel has mostly been shitting the bed spare a couple of books.

That may be but given her role as a villain in the Injustice storylines, she really felt like the only "irredeemable" one from the Regime. She even
stabbed Harley in the gut even though they were fighting as allies
in the story mode.

DC animated movies are pretty damn good, you should check a lot of them out lol. Personally, I too loved Injustice 1 and 2's story, and I loved the tone in Man of Steel and BvS. I hope more people come around and chill with this #NotMySuperman or #NotMyBatman nonsense.

That's a Total fallcy, while D.C. Does have a house style (all companies do), The new 52 had Justice League, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Omac, I, Vampire, Batman, Batman and robin which all had vastly different art styles.

I do agree that everyone using the house style is boring, even if there's a reason why it's done.

Superman wasn't redeemable either. Arthur as well. They saw it as a war and killing certain individuals was a necessity.

Eh, Wonder Woman typically tries to use compassion and understanding to defeat her opponents and subdue them. If worse comes to worse she doesn't mind killing with the greater good which is fine. Some situations like Max Lord just can't be resolved as an ambassador of peace.

Injustice Wonder Woman however seems cold to a comical standpoint. Having read all the injustice material so far Superman's fall from grace seems understandable. Wonder Woman seems like a bad person who only aligned with the league and followed their rules to be on the winning side. As soon as the Joker stuff happened, she didn't even pretend to save Clark from going off the edge.

As a DC fan, I am unhappy with Injustice.

Everyone is sacrificed to the altar of Lord Batman, the writers have huge Bat-boners. Grayson died in the dumbest way possible. They rehash status quo like Deadshot nanobomb and Bane using venom again. Damian is more like Jason Todd plus he changed sides without buildup. With or without the pills, it's hard to reconcile the canon power levels. Superman became stupidly moustache-twirling evil. Wonder Woman lost everything optimistic and passionate about her character.

To be fair, I think it depends on how she's written. Cooke wrote her as basically a no nonsense soldier in The New Frontier. I'll give you some of the more modern WW takes and Silver Age WW, but for a couple decades she was pushing Punisher in brutality.

Not played Injustice 2, but it wouldn't be the first time WW was am irredeemable ****, In the Flashpoint film, she starts a war in Europe and straight up murders children.

Read "All Star Superman". It's phenomenal. It's for those who think "good" superman is boring. The animated movie doesn't do it justice.

I also think injustice 2 is pretty good

The DCAU stuff from Batman TAS through Justice League Unlimited ranges from GOAT to pretty good.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone with a newfound affinity for DC.

My girlfriend utterly hates what they've done to Wonder Woman in this game. Her as an irredeemable fascist has its purpose in the story, but it's decidedly against the spirit of the character.

Green Arrow and Black Canary have always been some of my favorite DC heroes so I'm glad they got some spotlight here.

Injustice Harley will always be the best Harley. They did fantastic work with her character in the comic. Her facial capture in this game is incredible.

As far as DC goes, the worth of these characters is almost wholly dependant on who is writing them. Marvel is no different. Thankfully, Netherrealm understands these characters perfectly well.

Flashpoint WW was not Superman's bitch, she was her own person and major driving force in Flashpoint. Her personality can be justified somewhat by the timeline changes, she never developed the ideals of the classic version.

Injustice WW had classic ideals pre-regime but dumped them.

Everyone is recommending some of the best D.C. Animated stuff out there but if you liked Wonder Woman, watch the 2009 animated movie. It's amazing.
