I realized that I REALLY hate the cancel window in this game. I feel like I have to a cancel a special out of a normal practically even before the normal comes out. Its so ridiculously hard to hit-confirm because you always have to follow one specific timing which screws everything else up.

I really hope the next Netherealm fighter is less "stiff" in terms of movement.

That and far too little hitstop

You have to just do you whole combo and pray you got the first hit

Right it's dial-in-combos as yall know. It's always a shock playing a non-NRS fighter that might be a bit more freeform

For vs mode leveling, now you have to fight a 2P no less than 5 levels lower to get decent XP. So, level up a character on a second account, ideally to 20, and then just use it as a punching bag once you do.

Also, this (rigged?) RNG loot box system is awful. If you've been playing a FIGHTING GAME consistently non-stop for a month or more and you still don't have all the MOVES for your main the whole system is ill-conceived. There's a fine line between prolonging engagement and pissing your player base off, and this game crosses it for me. Like most NR games for me, for everything good about it, there's some equally poor decisions. I love a bunch of stuff about it, but it also pisses me off so much.

Playing through MKX and I kind of want Raiden in IJ2, especially after playing around with sub and finding him a lot of fun in IJ2.

You'll get your wish, because there's no way that's not Raiden, despite some people thinking Ed Boon is trying to deliberately misrepresent the characters in-game on the select screen for lulz.

I thought I had all the abilities, but last week for one of the multiverse events that gives an ability I played through it and got a Cyborg ability. The event was supposed to specifically give Joker's "gasser" ability, but instead I got one for Cyborg. I thought I had all of the abilities though because I stopped getting any from mother boxes or from multiverse events. I checked in Joker's abilities and I didn't have "gasser" and I still don't have it, so what the fuck?

Yeah I think the bamboo hat line from BA seals it. They wouldn't take trolling that far.

Now the atom is a real question mark. If they do Ray I don't want the shitty CW version like they did with Firestorm (where has like no transmutation :/).

CW Firestorm has transmutation. He's used it since the end of Legends S1 (and there was a cut scene from Flash S1 finale).

so glad I got all the abilities already I couldn't imagine rolling the dice on this RNG system its really bad. everything about it just seems rigged to make us want to pay for source crystals. The only thing that baffles me is why did they decide to grant free crystals when we level up?

That's the only thing I cant explain. But they give you such a small amount (200) and it takes forever to level up a profile once you get up to where I am (L71).

I still love this game. I dont think the devs wanted to add this awful RNG system. I blame "The Man" for this crap.

I want to say dont worry bout abilities they're stupid anyways. I mean- dont get me wrong they are fun. But cant use them in competitive mode. A lot of pvpers will request competitive. When I lab I turn off abilities.

Abilities was handled poorly ;(

yes you and I are missing abilities marked as 'epic'. I ran into the samething. Epic abilities can only be earned from "special" multiverses that grant the ability

I don't know what the deal is but I cannot get into this games pvp. I loved Street Fighter 5 and I do enjoy the fighting and characters here I just can't get into it.

You don't hit confirm the special move, you hit confirm the meter burn. For example as Superman if you do F2, breath and see F2 hit you hit the meterburn button for your full combo.

Probably balance is one of the major issues, zoning vs newcomers is aweful to deal with.
Just pick a top 5 character and play the game since they all are extremely fun to play.

Doing half hp damage from a BA divekick never felt better.

Gotta say I'm surprised how enjoyable the multiverse content is in the game. Think it's cool that the game asks that you play all the characters, not just your faves. I've yet to play an online match, and that's pretty amazing for a 2017 release.

And as a life long Sub-Zero main, man is it hard to not do the directional inputs from MKX. Have to rebuild my muscle memory lol. Still get happy doing damage from the ice ball.

Is there a GAF guild I can join? Tried using the ingame search, but they're either inactive or the leaders aren't taking in newbies.

Edit: Found my answer in OP, sent request, hopefully I get accepted lol. Always wanted to get invested in the faction system in MKX, but we all saw how that turned out

I was out all day yesterday and came home in time to see the grand finals. Saw an Aquaman mirror match and turned off the stream.

Pretty much, fucking believe they pulled a capcom and didnt patch the game after CEO.
Pretty shitty move and only hurt the game in the long run.

The game has been out two months. One of people's biggest complaints about NRS is how fast and often they patch, so they decided to let it rock longer this time. They even explained on one of their streams that they heard all the complaints, and they were letting things go longer as a response.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I don't have a problem with waiting for them to do a balance change. I just didn't find any interest in watching an Aquaman mirror.

yeah, im one of the players who actually liked how fast they were fixing characters in MKX.

Actually, I was totally fine with their approach too. I thought the reactions were overblown, especially considering their 2-year game cycle, with WB probably keeping them on a strict schedule for pushing out another game, limiting their long-term balancing support. In their position, though I don't know what you do to keep everyone happy.

They should cater to their core players, not the pro scene. Even then, the fact that every pro player have BA/Aquaman as a secondary character should have been huge red flag in how utterly broken those characters are.
Im sure the evo views and entry numbers will give them a better picture about how nobody gives a shit about the pro scene.

Got this for Xbox One during the Amazon Prime Day sale and I've been enjoying it quite a bit so far. The multiverse stuff has been pretty cool though the ai can be unpredictable. It goes from 0 to 10 at bizarre intervals.

I watched a lot of fighting games at EVO and I daresay IJ2 was probably the most diverse (out of GG Xrd, T7, & BlazBlue at least)

And ofc a lot of folks care bout Evo the IJ2 stream had really good numbers on Twitch alone (over 40k during Top 8). Not to mention the # of participants. If no one care bout Evo then surely they would not have over 800 IJ2 players entering at EVO

The Evolution thread here on gaf was also pretty hype for IJ2. Yes HoneyBee lost in the end but his Flash took #2 and he was so close to running it back to #1 spot

Watching Dragon shutting down HoneyBee's Flash pound pressure with Aquaman's D1 was extremely frustrating.
