Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Been playing on PlayStation in local co-op. I've chosen the mercenary, and my son is playing a monk. These two seem to pair really well together, we are obliterating nearly everything.

What class you playing? Im Monk and its tiresome

I've played all of them. My highest level is Warrior until the middle of act 3. Now I am doing a Ranger/Monk(8th character including one HC character lol). I'm guessing that's dumb but I like using the smallest female character while whooping ass with a stick. I don't even know anything about the ascendencies yet so she may be bricked by the end but idc, having a blast and when the game goes 1.0 I'm probably deleting them all anyway.

I've found Monk to be the most fun so far. Using the ranged lightning skill, lightning tempest when the enemy closes in, the move that hits a fully charged enemy for power charges, into temple bell, then falling thunder using my power charges has been a blast.

I also play my melee characters with controller which I think is critical to the fun. Also, these are my thoughts so far for the campaign, I've yet to get anyone to the end game so my thoughts may change as I am seeing some people express disappointment.

Not tiresome for me yet, but I am enjoying each class depending on my mood when I start the game up so the variety helps.

tl;dr crafting is arse, trading seems ridiculously game-breaking and shit on console.

Trying to search the trade site on console and accidentally cancelling out of the browser is 🤬🤬🤬 Fuck knows how much hassle it'd be to actually make the trade using this alone and the clunky messaging features.

Just a bit conflicted on this whole trading vs. crafting approach the game has. Crafting seems crap - a waste of time and resources. So I just don't bother. I get the idea of trying to make low tier drops potentially worthwhile, but nah, fuck that it's boring and unrewarding.

It's clear trading is the only effective path to real progress - quick af with minimal cost for incredible stuff that's exactly what you want. The whole bypassing of what I think of as a large part of these games in naturally dropping or refining stuff is just so alien though.

Trading needs to be a lot more streamlined on console and hopefully will be by the final game's release. What's there now is a hacky/botchy shoulder shrug of a solution for console players that have no other device on hand. Lots of stuff on console is an afterthought, and that's understandable as it's all secondary until a full release when PC is the lead platform. One example is tool tips on the atlas map being impossible to interact with, making the whole game mode feel very WTF when all you have is trial and error or go search 3rd party resources.

For trading to work for here I'm going to have go to the other side of the room, sit at my computer, spin the huge TV over this way yet still crane my neck, and be there, pad in hand ready to make it happen in-game. Nah, I'm good for now, lol. Maybe that's good enough for early access/beta, but for final there needs to be a dedicated app at the very least, but better still just a fully featured in-game version of what the site does and more (like simply automating the process as with currency trading) when there's no good reason why not. PC players can have a trade done and dusted before I could get off my arse and even make it to my desk :D I'll give it a go in the next few days or so though.
Yep, it seems the game is balanced to a large extent around trade, and they stripped out deterministic crafting which further pushes people towards trade. There are many people who would rather not trade, even if it was easy. There will also not be an auction house. You can read their little manifesto here on POE which presumably carries to POE2.

"Players who don't engage in trade are at a significant progression disadvantage in Path of Exile. However, some people are happy for the game to take longer to complete and enjoy the challenge that comes from living off the land. Historically, these players could choose to play alone, but would receive no recognition and had no way of proving that they had done so. Anyone could accuse them of having traded, invalidating their accomplishments."

Basically if you don't trade you are not going to have a fun time. Especially so with POE2 at the moment since no crafting bench and if anything they made the crafting system worse overall.

I'm at the 'do 10 x t3+ maps' quest on my lvl 72 warrior, but I'm not progressing gear-wise as all the magic and rare drops are just shit. Also it seems Sekhema's lvl 3 is still off the table as well as ultimatum 10, which prevents me from getting some much needed scaling ascendancy nodes. Haven't felt like running into a wall like this before.
So It feels like I must use the trade website, which I'm really not a fan of. Is there a reason why there's no in-game auction house and was this a conscious decision by GGG? Wouldn't that be the biggest QoL for everyone?

There is a reason, see Manifesto linked above. Basically they want trade to be more of a pain in the ass so people want to spend more time in game and also avoids botting better. Honestly, if you look at how Last Epoch does this, they have different mechanics for people who do and don't want to trade and an amazing crafting system. GGG approach just sucks in comparison but I suppose worth a try to get enjoyment out of an otherwise excellent game.

I don't get how random the difficulty seems with maps of the same rating... do the tower buffs really increase difficulty or is my shitty build just very situational? Some tier 4 and 5 maps are a breeze, others I'm getting sent home literally in seconds.
Same experience here. Lots of one shots in some cases. Or in others I start and get mobbed by enemies with insane mobility and attack speed. I do play warrior which makes life harder in that regard. I also don't have my resistances capped or anywhere near a good level, because I've been refusing to engage with trade but seems I have no choice at this point.

New guys, you should try PoE1...It has 10x the content PoE2 has :)
POE is decent enough for the first few acts, but gets extremely boring and repetitive, you base your entire build around 1-2 main skills, the gem system is terrible as you need to match colors and get sockets in gear which causes you to play musical chairs sometimes when changing out gear, it's not a bad game but I'd say POE2 is far more approachable and less frustrating (except for the gearing issues above).

Yeah the trade website is very convenient. You open it on the phone, fill the filters, click search and browse, very easy. It also includes a button to send a whisper to the seller so it really couldn't be better imo.

edit: hahaha another death because of that fucking anchor. So silly man.

The advice people gave to disenchant yellows for regal shards is 100% a bad call.

I’d much rather sell yellows for high gold to roll for better gear. I’ve had the best success from RNG gambling vendors.
I dunno man, all across the game I've had money to spare to gamble on random store, and you can't buy regals with gold so I'd rather have those shards.

Blue to yellow then have to slam exalts on exalts, or one yellow that can already have max amount of exalt rolls on it.

Yeah I’ll take option two.

I guess it depends on your playstyle. With a good high tier magic item and a lucky Regal Orb, you can potentially get a rare item that will set you up for the whole season.

I've also traded some pretty good items for regals.

If you don't plan to craft or trade, then gold is more useful.

You need to have a strategy when slamming exalts otherwise it's a waste. You have to weigh the opportunity cost of using the exalt for a potentially godly item vs just buying a known quantity from another player.

It's a very interesting process which I find engaging.

So what do I need to do to be able to trade as a buyer? Is there stuff I need to set up first?

Found something that looked like an interesting update to what I have for 1 exalted orb and it's only 1 level away from being usable:

I'd like to grab it but don't want to annoy anyone if I've not got my stuff in order. What's the process when buying for the first time?
1) Find item you want from trade website
2) Click "direct whisper"
3) Wait for the seller to send you a party invite
4) Accept invite and click on the little portal icon thingie in their portrait on the left to teleport to them
5) Ideally have the items (typically exalt orbs) ready in your inventory and accept the trade request they send you
6) Put items in trade window and get your dopamine hit

I haven't used a single essence in 160 hours of play time.

Guess I'll save them for my next character, kinda feel like I've hit the roof with my warrior.

I have a question.
How are the Uniques in this game. Are they worth it to be called Uniques or do Rare Items work better?

The joy of seeing your character slowly die while actionning a mechanism, killed by a mob hiding behind a wall that placed an aoe under his feet. :messenger_poop:

Why can't we cancel that animation?

I find them to be very interesting become some of them are useless in 99% of the time, but godlike 1% of the time.

Currently, I'm doing some experimenting with this one, in order to gear myself up very cheaply.

I can basically ignore lightning resistance, as long as I have decent armor. In fact, the less lightning resistance I have on my character stat sheet, the more lightning damage I do. This allowed me to trade for items with high rolls in fire res, cold res, and chaos res, without having to pay more for lightning res.

I don't see myself playing this endgame for much longer. Now debating between going back to life or starting a new character. :goog_relieved:

End games in these types of games always need work that's why I'm in no rush to get there. Sounds like the campaign is the highlight atm.
Yeah indeed. I love the campaign, had a lot of fun going through it and once it has all 6 acts it's going to be incredible.

But yeah endgame feels a bit barren imo.

Yeah campaign is really good in letting you test skills to see what fits your way of playing and it's even better now with the lower costs of respec.

The difference with endgame is you have to focus your build/gear towards it. Maps are huge, full of mobs (you have to add a lot of mobs with modifiers to get better loots and more xp) and you want to clean them fast.

My gameplay on Monk changed towards 2 attack skills, 5 buffs (4 permanents), 1 skill to get power charges and the bell.

It feels more like playing Vampire Survivor. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Dunno how long it'll keep me hooked, I haven't tested every maps yet (delirium, expedition...).

Had a divine orb drop from a white mob in a sekhemet trial during act 2 cruel.

Decided to sell for all the Exalted orbs so I can trade for better gear instead of waiting 30 hours for something to drop that's better than my lvl 22 boots.
