I'd love a CoD game that looks like Battlefield instead of the cartoon shitfest it has become.
A game of Battlefield is too big and complicated. I don't think many CoD players will switch, it's just not as much fun and you can't turn it on for a 10-minute session.
Spawn in the wrong place and you'll spend those 10 minutes walking to wherever the action is in Battlefield.

Nothing is too big to fail, it just means that it takes often longer when you're big.
Star Wars used to be too big to fail, they made the Force Awakens that was an uncreative re-tread that did a billion...now 10 years later more people document and dunk on its failure than bother to consume it.

I stopped playing BO6 a while ago but it had like 3 good maps maybe. The game fucking sucks. It's also incredibly sloppy and janky, and looks like shit, especially with all the skins. And it's gotten so much worse since I stopped. The game is bad and isn't fun.
It's true BF is a more complicated game with a higher learning curve and can often be annoying to play, but if it's good, people will at least give it a try and it will be more fun to play even if it is more complicated.

Take a look at how bad WoW and Diablo have become and you'll soon realize all of their output concentrates on selling you vanity items wrapped up in a facade they call a "game"
They don't care about fixing issues, including rampant cheating, they outsource anywhere possible, lay off left and right and churn out this rubbish off the IP recognition. Most everyone who made their games great are all long gone. The reason they keep making money is simply people like spending money on cosmetics and vanity items more than demanding quality.

I thought BO6 was pretty good, but I haven't played it in months. There were people dressed as rubber sharks carrying pink guns from almost day one, and it only got more ridiculous.
Last Battlefield I played was the WWI one. You just can't fire it up for a quick blast in the same way you can CoD, it's a major commitment of time to play a complete match.
And that's assuming you're lucky enough to join a game that isn't already halfway through, and you're assigned to the team that's getting thrashed because most of its players have dropped out.

are all very good games so it's just preference really, and out of all of them, CoD is the most "platform agnostic" from my experience. Sure, the aim assist for controllers/console is on the heavy side, but it's tolerable for the most part.

He's not wrong but I just came from the beta thread and I'll say this: the recommended requirements for BF this time are not astronomical. So many many more people will be able to play it as intended contrary to other behemoths like BF3. I sure hope everything goes well for the Swedish guys this time.

Speaking with sources who wished to remain anonymous because they were not authorised to talk about Activision's internal conversations, it's been said that although Activision is keeping a close eye on Battlefield, they are not worried about the game outcompeting its flagship franchise.
It's said that Activision leadership believes that Call of Duty is "too big to fail" and will remain a profitable, annually released franchise for many years to come. At the time of writing, an annual Call of Duty title is penciled in for the next four years at least.
This year's Call of Duty title, dubbed 'Black Ops 7', is said to be a "strong" title according to those familiar with the game's plans, despite initial problems in development.

Its core base loves the IP and even the worst COD's have moved massive numbers for them. I don't see BF6 changing much of that as they are different games.
I don't see enough here to suggest COD is going to fail.

I haven't really cared about CoD since around the first Black Ops game but I hope they crash and learn their lesson eventually. No one is too big to fail, it just takes a lot of time. And I also wish Battlefield stopped trying to chase the CoD playerbase and focused on their own thing.

They're different types of multiplayer games which cater to different gameplay needs. COD is at its best in small scale, arena based arcade-style FPS gameplay whereas Battlefield is at its best in large scale, objective based arcade/light-milsim FPS style gameplay. More recently COD is also successful at Battle Royale. Only when the new Battle Royale for Battlefield 6 is released will they really be in direct competition to each other.
Other than that I don't see either franchise replacing the other unless they both start to really target each other's specialities. But so far, Battlefield 6 looks like it has a decent and serviceable small scale gameplay modes such as team deathmatch but it looks to be a long way away from what COD offers in those modes (which has always been the case) and whenever COD has tried large scale warfare such as Groundwar it's always been a long way behind Battlefield. Unless this changes then both will coexist and serve different gameplay needs without really significantly taking from each other's player base.
Only in BR will they be direct competitors imo, but COD has a massive headstart over Battlefield. We will see if BF6's new BR mode can make inroads into the BR market and take players from Warzone.

I really hope they stay this complacent so that when they do eventually have a less than ideal launch, it makes them do better next time.
I hate how big Call of Duty is now, since that is why the game is now just a massive joke with MTX taking centre stage. It's no different to annual sports games at this point.
