Inspired by Death Stranding, CHVRCHES Debuts New Song, "Death Stranding"

CHVRCHES' track is the first from an original album featuring well-known artists.

Here at Sony Interactive Entertainment, we're excited to announce that we've partnered with RCA Records to release a full album for upcoming PS4 game Death Stranding. Timefall (Original Music From the World of Death Stranding) is named for the mysterious rainfall that affects all it touches, while its songs find their inspiration in the game's narrative focus: Sam Bridges and his journey to reconnect a fractured society and save mankind from extinction.

SIE and Kojima Productions set out to find artists in many different genres whose music evoked some of the key thematic elements in Death Stranding. Each artist on Timefall spent time with the team at SIE, interacting with the game's story and vibe, coming up with their own unique takes on connection, love, loss, and rebirth. Today, you can hear the first of these, from renowned Scottish anthemic electro-pop group CHVRCHES. After spending time with Mr. Kojima at Kojima Productions in Tokyo, the band were inspired to write an original song. We're thrilled to share it with you, the first of several hits to come.

If you haven't yet, listen to CHVRCHES' song "Death Stranding" here.

The album cover hones in on the mystery of the sci-fi, action-adventure game. Take a look below.

My fastest reaction times in Forza Horizon 4 came when changing the radio station as that CHVRCHES song started playing.

The Chvrches track is fine, but looking at that track list is like looking at the Batman Forever soundtrack CD for the first time. Odd match.

I wish someone would leak footage from koji's office. Seriously just imagining him listening to this while nodding his head to it and then saying "I want this song in my game" is hilarious to me.

Alan walker is a ridiculous artist. He basically only has one song that he tweaks from track to track. Plus the whole wannabe-Banksy thing. A bit ashamed to say he is Norwegian.

He is.

We've never been told the budget though we can assume it'll be around 100-150 million. MGSV cost 80 million and 200 million is Rockstar level game budget.
No way it's more than $80 million, no freaking way. It's definitely around $25-30 million but anything more than that is just marketing budget costs, so a total of $50 million max.

Inspired by chvrches, Hideo Kojima starts his own church. Geoff Keighley promoted from dorito pope to actual pope. In the name of the big boss, the solid snake, and the psycho mantis amen.

This band sold the fuck out at FTL speeds after their first album.

Their sophomore album wasn't THAT bad.

But there was nothing danceable either.

The third album was... a lot of directly on the nose exposition.

But do two dudes on synth and pixie with a good voice constitute "a band"?

Was the Sega Genesis a band, if 80% of players could make out "Rise From Your Grave!", after pressing start?

"Let's make a toast to the damned Waitin' for tomorrow "... "Let's draw a line in the sand. Keep it straight and narrow "..... "You can take my heart Hold it together as we fall apart"

I bought the iTunes sampler and pre-ordered the remaining ensemble of songs. It has an interesting feel to it, like one of those songs that play in a movie trailer that try to shine light on the overall mood of the film.
