Intel CEO: AMDs time is soon over

Intel is so confident in its upcoming Alder Lake and Sapphire Rapids CPUs that its CEO just said AMD's time in the limelight will soon be "over."

"And yeah, AMD has done a solid job over the last couple of years. We won't dismiss them of the good work that they've done, but that's over with Alder Lake and Sapphire Rapids," Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said in an interview with Computer Reseller News' Dylan Martin

This is why I am so excited to have AMD knock intel down a little bit. Competition brings out the best products from companies. Intel CPUs became so stagnant that I didn't want to upgrade my 2600K system. The CPU was doing fine for the most part. I didn't see a reason to upgrade to another Intel system.

Intel without competition became stagnant and lazy.
If it wasn't for AMD putting some pressure on them, we would still be stuck with 14nm++++, 4c8t for an i7, and no IPC gains for a whole decadde.

First deliver, then you can gloat. Gloating while you're a laughing stock is ludicrous and I can't take anything you have to say seriously.
To be fair they were the superior choice for like a decade. They got complacent I feel and hopefully, this is their comeback.

Competition is good.

That being said, are price branded chips still basically similar in performance? The 11600k is basically on par with the 5600x, costs less, but uses more power.

I don't really get why people get so obsessive over CPUs.

Yeah maybe talk shit after you prove it, because let's be real. AMD is stealing your shit even in corporate environment and now you even have a thread from ARM64 architecture. So good luck intel, you are going to need it.

just wait. Intel will be back to charging Intel prices before too long.

The global supply issues will continue through 2022 even into 2023.

See, everyone is expecting Intel to release some kick ass new CPUs but what he means is that he's sorry to hear about the huge arson attack at AMD.

The best thing for all of us would be that they keep leapfrogging each other and accelerating each others developments through competition. Things suck when AMD has misfired for long periods of time, which leads to Intel laying back and then getting caught with their pants down like now.

Only fanboy weirdos hope for anything else. I hope Alder Lake is great. I hope Zen 4 and 5 are also great.

It'd be incredibly stupid if this is all bluster but I expect not given some of the leaks for Alder Lake. To my knowledge Gelsinger isn't a muppet,
"Over" is hyperbole though - we'll get some decent trading back and forth with performance leads unless a foundry slips up.
