Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger was suddenly retired

It wasn't a sudden fall, it was just more than a decade of slowly declining and at some point everyone notices all at once when you can't hide it anymore

Intel's fall was already determined many years ago when they decided instead of using EUV like everyone else they would go their own way and try to develop their own lithography technique
basically where microsoft windows is at right now, but we don't have anything like TSMC right now to challenge them in the OS space. Linux is too fragmented unfortunately, I hope Valve and the Arch Linux people can gather enough of a coalition to really set some standards so there can be more of a commercial software ecosystem beyond people who like doing open source stuff and internal company software

Thread title reads like someone snuck up behind him like Tommy in Goodfellas.
“It was revenge for Bobby Swan, and a lot of other things. And there was nothing that we could do about it. Swan was a made man, and Gelsinger wasn’t. And we had to sit still and take it. It was among the silicon valley dudes. It was real nerdball shit.”

Honestly they shouldn't have fired Brian Krzanich for having a consensual adult relationship within the company

"Was retired" was deliberate. This was clearly not his choice, after being very clear he intended to see it through to turnaround to a foundry business by 2027. One doesn't just choose to retire on a Monday morning all of a sudden after all that.
It’s funny we all have our theories and think it’s tech related but in reality he’s just spooked cause Kash Patel now wants the Epstein and diddy guest lists released…I mean you never really know right?

Do you think he was still reciting bible verses during...

Intel is reportedly considering hiring an external candidate as its next CEO following Pat Gelsinger's sudden departure. The company has enlisted executive search firm Spencer Stuart to help identify potential successors, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Maybe they can try hiring Lisa Su :messenger_beaming:

This won't have lasted long 😭
Finally, a GPU company with a CEO that isn't another GPU company ceo's cousin.

The board not like the foundry push or something or just finally sick of it? Legally now they can't sell it off but they're already producing some CPUs at TSMC and their GPUs are with TSMC. Can the next Intel CEO decide to starve foundry of resources in favor of getting back into a stronger position in chip design and still keep that CHIPs money
