via CNBCNvidia is replacing rival chipmaker Intel in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, a shakeup to the blue-chip index that reflects the boom in artificial intelligence and a major shift in the semiconductor industry.
Intel shares were down 1% in extended trading on Friday. Nvidia shares rose 1%.
Clearly, a monumental shift that can hit gaming in a very unpredictable way. Nvidia is less and less interested in gaming and has no incentive to keep competitive GPU pricing, while Intel is literally being Boeing of chip industry minus the MIC contracts. And that's grim news too, because AMD will have even less reasons to keep modest pricing on future Zen chips.
There are also rumors about Nvidia CPU/GPU combo based on ARM architecture, so something is changing behind the scenes and not on a healthy way.
