Strictly speaking of resolution however. I am sure Sunset Overdrive would be 1080p if it had the graphics of a 2006 game...

Gen is going to be rough.

Right now you can spend 250$ on a Radeon 280X and be able to 4K game @ 30fps with some games.

Its a shame MS had to spend so much $$ luxury on Kinect headroom with the system

Are you talking about images from two different games? Because a 1080p upscaled 900p image will likely look worse than a native 900p image.

I mean low res upscaled to 1080p VS native resolution 1080p comparisons.

I was watching that two hour stream yesterday and one of the first questions somebody asked was about resolution. not if the game was fun or anything like that. fucking resolution. it's getting incredibly annoying that game discussion has basically driveled down into resolution.

They're so sensitive because one of the bigger remaining issues for their platform is the general perception that its "weaker" than the competition.

Whether a games resolution is 1080p or not has become the simplest broad brush indicator of performance.

It does output at 1920x1080, it's not natively rendered as such, but I suspect this is relatively normal - they're setting a minimum quality for the video.
