Tonight i have received an email to respond to a Sony PSP survey..
A lot of questions were answered for me :
-PSP alone --> 249 euros
-PSP + multimedia kit 128k(M.Stick)-->265 euros
-PSP + multimedia kit 256k(M.Stick)-->285 euros
-European preorder campaign --> 01/10/05
-Possibles new games announced? : Medievil,WipeOut,Rage Racer,Hardware

Overall a lot of unexpected infos!! :D

EDIT:OOps sorry i have typed the wrong prices for the bundles

250Euro = $250 = £150. I'd prefer £129, but the first bunch will sell anyway.

Interesting about larger memory stick bundles, not the 32MB one. Maybe they will push more of a music message in Europe?

10th Jan. Nice. Assume an Easter launch, but they might try and go early to beat Nintendo to market. If their lead time is like Japan, it'll by out by the end of Jan. :P

I was hoping for 199€ and 249€ for the alone version and value pack respectively.
But what were the questions in the survey?

Nope. Always a pleasure to pay more to get games weeks or even months after the US. Ho well, as long as the dollar is so low import rocks.
One thing though, these prices would be with the (about 20%) VAT included, so a direct comparison with the US price should take this into account.
Mumu: You are soooo wrong. I hate the PS2 with a passion, and never liked playing on a handheld, but I'm seriously thinking about buying this PSP... Never underestimate the power of the cool toy (and of Sony's marketing...)

Never !!!!
The pleasure of receiving games late, with bad translations, badly converted is so awesome that I would like to pay the dou...no...the triple for the same product.

Yeah games like Halo 2 and NFSU 2 are £45 in the UK now instead of £40. Thats $85 US for a game.

Well you're hardcore though, or an early adoptor :) The first shipment is gonna sell like hotcakes, no matter the price, no doubt about that! But i don't think casuals will be eager to get it at that price, i might be terrible wrong. It still boggles my mind why it's almost double the japanese price! I guess for every PSP we buy a japanese PSP can be sold for 100$ less :/

I still remember the PS2 PAL launch (80000 pesetas=500€)...or even the PSX one where the Spanish price was 120.000 pesetas= 722€ !

EVERYTHING is posible when it comes to a PlayStation launch !

How does one figure out such precise pricing information from a survey?
It was very clear in the survey with the preorder bonus i've forgotten to type in my first post :
A PSP collector shirt( :/ ) or a carrying bag with the headphones.
They will perhaps adjust the prices the nearer we come to the 10th but these will surely be the final prices in Europe at last...

It will be cheaper. The prices were confirmed to be very low by the industry mags and stuff.
These prices included in the survey are for me a lot more credibles than Industry mags :)

I'm just asking, because surveys usually never give you exact price for anything, but rather ask stuff like "What would be the most you'd pay for XYZ" and give you couple of prices to choose from. That's the point of survey, after all.

In what sense it was very clear?
They said those will be the prices and bundles?

I doubt it's gonna sell well at that price.

You do know that the launch price of the PS2 was like € 500,00+ in Europe (in Holland anyway) right? I don't know how well it sold back then, but if you look at PS2's market share here, I could still see it selling very well.

They have described the multiple packages at european launch,bonus with the preorders,date....
With only one month and a few days left before the preorder date,it will surely be the definite prices...We will surely be fixed at 100% in the coming weeks but i fully expect these prices now.

Ok but what kind of survey is then if they simply give out the details about the Pal launch?
As Marconelly said in a survey it's tipical to ask for example 'Would you like to pay 249€ for the PSP alone?' or something like that.

just wanted to add that, although it sucks and, yes, sometimes (actually often) we might pay more for consoles/games here (specifically germany) a simple www.xe.com conversion from EUR to $ is not something you can do to make such a claim. You see we don't get paid in $, but rather also in EUR.

Essentially you can consider the 250EUR to correspond to $250. Actually I would say this bodes well for a $200 to $250 release in the states (considering that we do pay a little more).

On the point though, I first though 250EUR sounded well priced, see even cheap, for the PSP. But when you consider that you could get 2 bundle cubes plus practically an extra game for just the base PSP (no game, no mem stick, no UMD movie, nada) as this would suggest... it does seem like a lot :)

So this preorder survey is a French thing only, or Europe in general?
Yeah, if that pricing stays, that doesn't bode well for the chance of PSP being anything less than $200 in the US.

Memory Stick with 128Kilobits? Nice... :lol

I guess this is only the French version of the survey but it regards all Europe.
In the last picture they say games will cost 40€ (PS2 games cost 60€ here) and the PSP price is still unconfirmed and the range will be 180-450€.
Confimed the possibility to transfer images and movies from PC to PSP.

PSP will probably cost £130 maximum according to industry people. Apparently Nintendo and Sony have already made presentations to retail.

Don't forget that the USD is 33% weaker than it was a few years ago!
Prices were actually comparable to USA back then when the USD was strong.

likely there were multiple surveys sent out, each with different prices. Allows them to guage the response and map a graph of perceived value.

Yeah games like Halo 2 and NFSU 2 are £45 in the UK now instead of £40. Thats $85 US for a game

Sure, but don't forget that over here in the UK, we earn a lot .......less. Oh.

Hey, wait a minute...exactly when is PSP being released in Europe? I thought the PAL release was far, far away (like Q3 2005)?

yepp USD isnt any strong anymore.
If we import one from USA instead, its you guys over there that are ripped off. :)

In fact,if the USA PSP will cost 199$,that will be 150€ with the actual change.
100€ less than the supposed official european price :D
