Thanks, yeah we just figured it out together lol.

Treefingers said:Not sure about #2, but regarding #1: I think it sends a request from your phone to his to find out if he has iOS 5 via wifi when you're in the conversation view. At least I'm not sure how it could work otherwise.
If I turn off wifi and 3G it doesn't show me that it will send an iMessage. So I think I'm right.
Politely bumping my questionGila said:Anyway to have a customized vibration set only when the phone is in sleep?
I don't want it to have it vibrating while the messages or iMessages are being sent, and I'm already viewing it on the screen
Not sure if it's possible? Or was it always vibrating no matter what? I can't even remember how it was before lol
Not really. After I updated my Verizon iPhone 4 yesterday. I left it connected to my PC till it was fully charged then. I took it off and didn't connect it back to be charged till about a hour ago today.Jme said:Sorry if this has been asked/talked about already but this thread is rather daunting to check through.
Is anyone else having major battery life issues with iOS 5? I have a Verizon iPhone 4 and holy shit this thing drains like 4x faster than it did before I updated.
btkadams said:is there a good app that monitors the health of your battery? as in charge cycles, percentage of original charge that it gets, etc. or is that in the os already somewhere?
It's in Settings --> General --> Usage. Go to the bottom and you should see the status of the charges and such. There is a option to turn 'batter percentage' on so you can see it in display bar at the top of the screen next to the batter icon.btkadams said:is there a good app that monitors the health of your battery? as in charge cycles, percentage of original charge that it gets, etc. or is that in the os already somewhere?

1. As an experiment, I took my phone, with iOS5 installed, and turned off 3G and cellular data. Wi-fi only. A friend took his phone, with iOS5 installed, and turned off his wi-fi (3G and cellular data only).
I selected his phone number (I don't know his Mobile Me/@me/iCloud info) and in a matter of seconds, it switched from "Text Message" to "iMessage" and green to blue. Same behavior for him.
How in the world does it figure out, without me even needing to send a message, to use iMessage instead of a txt/SMS?
2. Under the same conditions I sent my friend with an Android phone a message. It was green, and the message said it went through (there was no red exclamation point like I might normally see when cellular data is turned off), but he didn't actually receive a text until 10 minutes later when I turned my cell data back on.
Does iOS5 just hold onto those messages until you have enough service to send them out? Shouldn't it give some sort of indication (like the red mark) that it hasn't actually been sent yet?

I know lol I notice that also.solarus said:GIFs are waaaay faster now on ios 5 I've noticed, it was like watching a slideshow before.

By the way. Is iTunes songs DRM or are the DRM free? I sometimes use my Xbox 360 for streaming music and I wanted to know if those songs I buy off iTunes will stream with the 360 or not?
Xbox will not stream AAC, but will play them off of a connected ipodStumpokapow said:iTunes files are DRM-free AAC files. Some files you purchased before 2008 might have DRM, you can pay a small fee to upgrade them to DRM-free. I can't remember if the 360 streams AAC stuff or not, but if it doesn't, it won't be a DRM thing.

That's just because of the software on your computer. I use Rivet on the Mac and it can stream my entire iTunes library (including AAC) on my 360 just fine.PhoncipleBone said:Xbox will not stream AAC, but will play them off of a connected ipod
Yes it's the official release.Anastacio said:Do I have the official iOS5 installed on my iPad now?
It says:
Version: 5.0 (9A334)
Is that the official release or still the beta?
And I keep getting Error (1630) when trying to look for an update for iPad in iTunes 10.5.
Still trying but might give up soonSobriquet said:Just keep reloading the page. Took me 5 or 6 tries.
The GM is the actual release.DeathbyVolcano said:I'm sure this has been answered many MANY times before, but I don't have time scour the thread. If I'm running the iOS 5 GM and have the beta version of the Mac iTunes, what should I do? Should I download the actual 10.5 iTunes from Apple's site and update to the actual release of iOS 5, or would it be pretty pointless at this point?
So I suppose WMP. Just doesn't have the ability to stream AAC files then?ckohler said:That's just because of the software on your computer. I use Rivet on the Mac and it can stream my entire iTunes library (including AAC) on my 360 just fine.

Is there any software I can use on Windows PC that can allow AAC playback on the 360?AbsoluteZero said:I'm actually looking into such a program, I used to use Connect360 years back but it looks like it hasn't been updated in forever, so I'm deciding between Rivet and Playback at the moment.

that was a really interesting article. some good dirt in there. I wonder when the tell-all Phil Schiller expose will be written?
what dark secrets does Schiller hide?

that doesn't work. if i make a playlist on my phone that playlist doesn't even appear under my phone in itunes once i plug it in. there's also no syncing of playlists going on at all either way.guest1321 said:I'm pretty sure that the restore/back-up will tell iTunes to put the same music back on there as you had prior. Making a playlist of all the music you have on your iPhone and then syncing the iPhone will put that playlist on your computer. It seems like a safe back-up solution but I think you should be fine without it.
