Hey guys I need some help.

My house has My iPhone, My Mrs iPhone and our iPad all on my itunes account so we share apps.

It's worked fine with facetime etc. will it also effect imessage/friend finder etc or when i update my Mrs's phone soon will I need to set her her own itunes account up but then what happens to everything else?

Thanks

I'm in the same situation (my iphone, her iphone, our ipad), it's fine. You can have a separate iMessage/iCloud account but the same App Store account. :)

Why does the new version of iTunes keep opening randomly on it's own?
Do you have sync via wifi on?

I believe iTunes launches by itself to sync whenever it detects an iOS device on wifi (which is pretty much all the time). I actually like knowing that it'll sync whether I've launched iTunes already or not.

So my parents both have 3GS' and an iMac that's pretty old (I think it's running vanilla leopard).

If I plug their phones into my Air, can I backup the phones, load iOS 5 on them, and restore the backup, without any issues? They've never plugged their phones into their iMacs before, so I don't see why I'd run into any problems. Plus, with iOS 5, they'll never have to worry about plugging their phones in.

Would their Apple ID have to be on my Air or anything?

Is there a GAF iOS App recommendation thread? I've not even looked at apps over the last year and half because my 3G was woefully unequipped to handle even the simplest ones.

Wow, I am disabling Photo Stream until Apple allows us to manually delete selected photos from the stream.

It's pretty ridiculous the work-arounds you need to do to clear your stream, and to me it's just more of a hassle than it's worth.

Drunkenly added my gf to find my friends last night. Checked the app out this morning and holy shit it is creepy. Super accurate. Gonna have to find away to accidentally unfriend her

Wow. Just got an iMessage from a guy who's a PR at a club or something, so it's a spam message of sorts, it was sent to 315 different recipients, and apparently all that header info comes with the iMessage... believe me, it brought down my iPhone 4 to a crawl. Messages.app crashed and can't open his text at all (was able the first time). It just crashes when I try to.

I'll have to delete his thread.

Just sharing. iMessage is new and big (imo it's more important than FaceTime) and there are some kinks that'll have to be ironed out in time.

I was flipping through huge pile of photos on my iPOd Touch 4g, since the upgrade to 5.0, quickly going through photos is fucking slow or not working at all...I have to slow it down or else it will hang there... quite annoying

Anyone else experiencing issues where iTunes Store is showing purchases/available downloads for things (music) you've already downloaded? If so do you know how to fix it. I've already tried downloading it again and deleting the old one's.

A general iOS question, but the time stamp on messages only show up for some messages. Why is this
You don't need a time stamp for every single message when you're having a conversation?

Even with iCloud off

Now I see on my iPad, groups of photos are being duplicated or showing up in the wrong folders

wtf, this is just awful

They should really have a "privacy" switch on the camera. Then when you are taking a picture you want to purposely leave out of your stream you just hit the toggle and take the pic.

Perhaps in a future version, I don't think Apple believes iCloud to be feature complete - but if you want people to use it you have to release it eventually and just hope it is good enough to buy you enough time to add more features. I'd rather have iCloud with limited features at the moment than still be waiting for it.

I'm not loving iCloud. Upgraded to ios5 and bought Lion. I'm a tech nerd and Apple-lover, yet for the life of me cannot figure out how to sync my iCal calendar on our iMac, with my iPhone and my wife's iPhone. We each have our own Apple IDs. Grrr. Any ideas?
iCal on the iMac just won't sync with the cloud, even when I select it under the iCloud settings.

Use your iCloud account on your computer, then subscribe to your wife's calendar. On the iCloud website, logged into your wife's account there will be a little button to the right of the calendar you want to share - clicking on it will bring up sharing options and an invitation. Add the iCloud emails of the people you want to share with, and then click share.

Hopefully they will extend this beyond the iCloud web interface.

Am I the only one, where Safari will close down imediately after opening it up? It only happens when I go from Private mode to Normal mode, then I have to restart the iPad (1).

Anyone else?
Yeah I get this too and had to repeatedly restart the iPad.
I figured out a workaround though. When finished in Private Browsing close all tabs. Open a new one then go to settings. When coming out of Private Browsing, select to keep this newly opened tab open. Then when you switch back to Safari you'll be back into the newly opened tab in regular browsing mode :-)

So is there an ATT app that tracks data usage?

Also, about iMessage, I understand that it works through internet, so it needs Wifi or 3G.. does that mean that if you aren't connected to the internet and someone tries to message you through iMessage, you will appear as unavailable, or will it send you the message when you finally connect?

Their official app shows it to you as well

I think it's dumb that I had to add myself to the iCloud contacts just so Siri could see it.

Why wouldn't you have yourself as a contact? It's convenient when wanting to send someone your contact info, and is generated by both iOS and Mac OS X automatically and has been that way for a while.

I think it'll send as a regular sms

it should be green

iMessage has been working flawlessly to me but right about now I started getting the "this person is unavailable" message nonstop when the other person is still connected. On her side she can still message me but the texts don't reach me. We both rebooted but no dice. We're in different countries but I don't know how relevant this is to the system since I wasn't having any trouble and all texts were being sent and arriving instantly. Weird, I hope it's temporary.

It's Messages.

It's part of the Messages app. If a contact has iOS 5, then it will send an iMessage. If not, it will send a text.

I had to add myself manually, I don't think it was generated automatically... unless it's under a generic name.

does it tell me? or no?

If the send button is blue, it's iMessage; if it's green it's SMS. You can also see in the text box it say which version it is sending.

On a side note, heh in a stalker kinda way, you can find out who of your contacts has an iPhone and who doesn't because of this.

How do I reset an app? Simply delete it and re-download from the app store on my device? Want to reset Angry Birds...

Do you guys have a text sound when recieving iMessages?

I have my text tone on to a MGS codec, but there isn't any sound when I get a iMessage

I'll try with a normal message as well

e/ yup, not even working with normal text...
