So is there an ATT app that tracks data usage?

Also, about iMessage, I understand that it works through internet, so it needs Wifi or 3G.. does that mean that if you aren't connected to the internet and someone tries to message you through iMessage, you will appear as unavailable, or will it send you the message when you finally connect?
When the receiver is not connected to the internet, the iPhone will first send an iMessage and when the message can't be delivered within exactly 5 minutes it'll be transformed into a text message. But you have to check that option in the message settings.

Another thing I'd like to know about iMessage:

My gf & I share the same Apple ID, but we use different Emails in the Messages settings (receive at). I've only texted with her since the release of iOS 5 and it works so far. What happens when I chat with someone else, let's say a friend? Will she get the message, too? Haven't had the chance to test it, because all of my other iPhone contacts are lazy and haven't updated yet. ;-)

When I updated it reset my iPad. Anyone have a link to the JavaScript you can bookmark to highlight spoilers on gaf?

k, so when i went to set up my @me.com email address, i misspelled my intended email. :/
I can't figure out how to get support from Apple without going through this Express Lane bullshit.

Anyone able to help me out?

I'd like to try and do a WiFi sync, but it says it'll only do it if my computer is available. Well... it is. So what should I look for to help this out?

I believe your phone has to be plugged into power.

I believe you need to physically connect it once to your PC then after that you just need it connected to power

It is connected to power though, it seems to be having difficulty finding my computer...

Anyone know of a good video player app that will play a generous amount of files with subtitles. I thought I converted some files so they would work on the iPhone properly, the video plays fine but it seems the iPhone doesn't like .ass subtitles or something.

You're fucked, for now.

As of now you can't change it I'm afraid.

Air Video. It is crazy good. You can stream stuff from your computer to your iPhone, it'll convert it and make a copy of it on your computer that's compatible with your iOS device. And it works with subtitles. I had some random subtitled anime on my computer and I streamed it to Air Video on my iPad, which I then screen-shared with my Apple TV and it all worked flawlessly.

YES, and it's even free. The free version can only view four files listed in a folder at a time, but just hitting the refresh button reorganizes them, basically giving you access to all of the vids in the folder.

I upgraded to 5 from a very early build of 4. Now my phone does this double vibrate when I get text messages and I can't change it in the custom vibration settings. I don't like it, is there any way I can change it?

Edit: also seems like my battery is draining faster

I'm trying to figure out if I can replace Todo with Reminders, and this is kind of mind boggling. If I add the reminder on the phone there seems to be no way to add a due date... Just a reminder time, but if I add on ical I can put in a due date, but there's no option for a specific time... but if I add on the mac and then look at it on the phone I can change the specific time, and I can also make it repeat (which I can't seem to do on ical).

And now it seems all day reminders aren't showing up in my reminders notification center thing...

wtf apple, seriously...

iCal on 10.7.2. Due dates, specific times, and repeat.

Reminders will only appear in notification center if it's the day of the reminder.

What are you talking about? I can set reminders to remind me on a specific date and time, same with iCal. You sure you didn't overlook something?

That's an event, not a reminder. If I pull up the reminder list in ical and put in a reminder it only has priority, due date, list, url and note.

And I know that. I created a test reminder with a due date of today. it won't show up in notification center at all. That's if I create it in ical with a due DATE. If I create a reminder on my phone with a reminder time, it shows up. This doesn't make any sense.

He's saying he can set Reminders to remind him at a specific time, but he can't set a due date at a specific time. Unless he adds a due date from iCal.

Pretty annoying since the ability to set a due date would probably have switched me over to Reminders.

iTunes Match "gathers information about my library" and then proceeds to skip past the part where it matches my songs against iTunes and then tells me I'm done. Zero songs are matched, and as a result I can't download anything on my phone. It also doesn't upload any of the unmatched songs, which is another problem.

This USED to work in beta 9, but in 10.5.1 beta 1 it's completely broken again.
For me too. Exact same issue. ):

Oh now I see. Due dates are missing from Reminders.app but are in iCal. Weird bug.

Is the option for wifi sync checked on the info section when your phone is connected to your computer?

The iPhone has to be connected to WiFi as well, yes?

I'd really like to see if I can make it through the day tomorrow at university with iOS 5 & iCloud on my 3GS. I hope my battery life isn't too bad.

Do you guys charge your iPhones every evening even though it has 50-60% battery left?

What the fuck is a due date? You mean you want two reminders in one, one reminding you something and the other with the due date? I'm sorry, I just don't follow. :lol

But it seems buggy when I even use a due date. If I have no reminder time set for it, it doesn't seem to show up in my notification center.

I mean my bill is due on the 14th. That's what I want. I want to see when my freaking bill is due. And I want it to remind me to pay the bill at some point before that, maybe a day or two ahead. That's how Todo works, and that's what makes sense for paying bills.

Due date is when something is due. Reminder date is when you want to be reminded.. not that difficult of a concept.

questions about the calendar...

on my iphone and ipad, it asked if i wanted to merge my calendar entries with icloud so i don't have duplicates - for "Home" "Work" and "Calendar" - which is great.

however, on my mac, I have no idea how to get iCal to do that, or even if it can?
cause I have the same entries under "On my mac" and "iCloud" where even if I only have 1 set of the 3 checked off, I'll still get reminders/alerts about both events.

Is it safe to just delete the "On my mac" set of Calendars?

Also, is there anyway to add the Subscription calendars to iCloud.com so I can view it on the online sync'd Calendar in the browser? (such as FB birthdays, Canadian/US holidays)

The calendar thing is so messed up. I was confused as hell for a bit too. Basically what you want to do is, in iCal, add an account in the preferences thing. Make it your iCloud account. Now you'll have your mac stuff and your iCloud stuff. Now, delete the stuff that was on your mac. That way you have only your iCloud stuff. Now, go into iTunes and tell that not to sync your calendar at all (you'll be pulling from the cloud).

Not sure about the second question but yeah you should just delete the "On my Mac" calendars.

so annoyed that iTunes Movie Trailers app is US only, I always wanted a movie trailers app like that ever since I got a iPhone, now that it's here, us UK people get shafted :(

Hah, you have to be pretty cheap to put up with that kind of nag thing rather than spend $3 :p

I don't see a iTunes topic and this one seems pretty relevant and active so I'll ask here. I wanted to catch up on the Walking Dead so I bought the HD version for like fifteen bucks last night. Every single episode is almost 2 gigs though! How is that even possible? Is it just the way iTunes formats its stuff?

A bit off-topic and noobish question, but I hope someone can help me out:

How can I export my Outlook calendar at work and sync it to my iPhone/iPad? I don't have Exchange access for various reasons, but would like to transfer my appointments to my devices.

Yeah, can't exactly buy stuff from iTunes where I am currently located, unfortunately. If I were to buy a video streaming app it wouldn't be Air Video anyway, that's just the best free option.

Can't you just name the reminder 'pay bill on the 14th' and have it remind you on the 12th or something? :lol Sorry, just not something I would even use so I can't put myself n your circumstances.

You could also put the due date info in the notes if you wanted.

I just updated my phone for the first time in several months. Most of the stuff is cool, though w/o the ability to put my non-iTunes music in iCloud, the feature is significantly gimped

Incoming text messages display like this on the lockscreen by default:

Photo%20Oct%2016%2C%207%2025%2034%20AM.png

And if I just re-lock the screen it becomes

Photo%20Oct%2016%2C%207%2025%2040%20AM.png

Is there any way to make it show up like #2 by default?

Guys! I STILL can't update my iPad 2. A few days ago I was getting the "ipad cannot be restored 3194" error, and figured I was in the same boat as everyone else. But now it seems like everyone gets the update just fine, but I still get hit with that error over and over....
halp?

So I can't close iTunes? It keeps popping up, as if I wanted to iTunes sync again. It's very annoying, specially if I want to watch something. Gonna turn off the iPhone, see if it bugs me again. Very weird, first issue I have with iOS5.

Google it. You've been messing with jailbreak.

I've read around about that. But this is a 100% legit iPad, bought new from Apple a month ago, no shenanigans whatsoever. And that makes it even harder to find a fix for! I might just call them tomorrow....so frustrating!

No. It's by design. I don't particularly like it, but it is what it is.

Edit: Looks like your jailbroken anyway so I'm sure theres something you can do on cydis
