Tobor's thoughts are why Apple hasn't released it on the desktop. Reading long books on a computer sucks, and Apple agrees.

I want to know if my wonderful Yojimbo is going to be borked the second I pull the trigger. Sure sounds like it, as it is a sync option on the Mobile Me panel.

Tried to update and it says I have the current update. Been working fine since the GM was released here.
 
Had to restore from backup, is it normal for restoring apps to take a while? I had about 3 gigs worth of apps on the phone.

It is as bizarre as their previous decision to switch the lock button on the iPad to mute notification sounds instead of orientation. It's as if they purposefully want to raise my blood pressure. A quick look online and there are several articles and discussions dedicated to this very question; where is the iBooks for the Mac? It's as if they don't care for it anymore. How the fuck does syncing documents from iOS devices take priority over book downloads?

By that logic there wouldn't be an iBooks on iPad because it reading long books on an LCD sucks period :p

I do. I get sent PDF books to read all the time and whenever I've read them at my Mac I've hated it. Always wind up putting them on my iPad instead. I don't read books sitting at my desk, I read them on the couch.
 
New things I didn't see mentioned you can now load and install apps simultaneously, not in order and you can use your iPad and dl apps while it is syncing.

Heh I'm not saying it's false, I'm just poking fun at Liu Kang for trying to speculate about Apple's decision when they've never said anything. Just like he always attacks other speculation and rumors questioning.
 
download failed for me, but then I ran it again and it took 2 minutes for the whole thing.
 
Damn, I should have just did a clean restore. Restoring all my apps is taking more time than the actual upgrade.
 
I want to update my jailbroken 4.2.1 to 5... I do not care if my jailbroken apps are deleted, I expect them to be. Do I just update straight to 5 normally? Just press the update button?

it took you two minutes to download ~700MB? methinks it was merely a resume, vs a full fledged re-download (unless you can get 350MB/min down...)

Yes? It should give a message saying I am up to date, not Unable to Check for Update
 
Looks like I'll be spending a lot of today dealing with pictures on my camera roll. It's just at the edge of being too big for iCloud backup. I think I'll just import everything into iPhoto and then clear out all unwanted pics on the camera roll.

Does photo stream alleviate any of this? I thought that didn't count against iCloud storage.

Same here, I accidentally unplugged my cable. Plug it back it it will continue to restore.

Were you updating it on a computer other than the computer you sync on? Because iTunes specifically tells you "Yo dude you're going to lose your apps and music" if you try to do that.
 
i'm at 210MB on my direct link download, 334MB on my itunes download, and i am still trying to find a way to install the icloud control panel on my windows machine. ideas?
