iOS 5 & iCloud |OT|

Shit 3200 again, I noticed that when the backup bar went halfway it jumped to the end and continued with the update process.

oh well time to try a different USB port

The update came out an hour ago and Apple's servers are melting.

Sit back, relax, and try again in a few hours.
 
I want to install from my work Mac but it tells me it'll blow away all my apps if I do that since it's not my normal syncing computer. Since iCloud should let me sync all of my apps, can I just let it delete them and redownload without a computer sync? If not I'm just going to wait till I get home.

and i am getting the restore error too on my phone :/

I don't think it has to do with servers though, we all already have downloaded the update.

I already did it earlier today with no problems, could just be too much load on the servers right now.
 
Are they serious that I can't put the newsstand inside a folder? Fuck this shit!

Also all my apps in folders aren't there anymore. I just sorted them a few days ago :(
 
Updated OSX, tried logging into iCloud, beachball. Damn you launch day.

Edit - Apparently it totally skipped the setup phase, I force quit SP and relaunched it and iCloud is already running somehow. Will set it up myself, I guess.

Uh apparently you can't put Newstand in a folder. Since you also can't delete it either, that blows. Fuck that.

yeah I noticed that as it said it had to verify the restore. Annoying it has to back up every time though why not just try reconnecting to the servers

Jailbreaking will allow you to hide or move it into a folder. The tethered jailbreak already works. An untethered jailbreak is on the way.

Apparently there was a sneaky security update I hadn't downloaded so I'm doing that right now. Hopefully that and a reboot will solve the restoring issue.
 
i have itunes 10.5 and my phone is on 4.3.3. it's telling me all that's available is 4.3.5. is that normal? (just restarted computer and itunes too.)

Been there done that. I prefer the ease of no JB. Thanks though. I'll just brandish it away to its own screen for now and hopefully they change it later. I'm not sure why they didn't have it be its own app like iBooks.

No. You haven't backed anything up to iCloud yet if you're not running iOS5.
 
so none of my contacts are in the icloud. Alright then. Is this cause I'm using exchange?

I think this update might be a bit pointless for me.

Yeah it's pretty nice. I only wish that the app would open the Fandango app on the phone instead of the website, when trying to purchase tickets.
 
of course,

I keep getting an Internal error whenever I tried to update.. And It won't even get past the It reaches the verifying Iphone stage, then gives me errors.

:(

Time to see if I bricked my phone..

No issues. My main iCloud account is my @me.com MobileMe I've had for the last year and a half. My main iTunes account is my wife's Gmail, as it has been for the last four years. Everything works fine.

If you're having trouble, delete your main iCloud account and make the new iCloud account your @me.com account. Not sure if I had to do that because I was in the betas and didn't actually have access to the full iCloud suite until today, but there ya go.

What's the difference between iPhone 9.7.2 and the other "updates" to iMovie, etc?

Is iPhoto 9.7.2 not an update?

Edit: Also what 3rd party updates are being "pulled" from Apple? What does that mean exactly?
 
if i have multiple itunes accounts from multiple countries, am i gonna run into problems at some point? how the hell is that supposed to work concerning music/apps? :(

My phone won't activate now, called Verizon and Apple. Neither of them know what to do and just told me to wait it out.

I cannot even use this phone to make an emergency call..

That happened to me and all I did was which the USB port it was plugged into and then it worked.
 
I can't update either my phone or my iPad. I have downloaded the update and backed up but I just get a message saying an internal error has occurred and it can't be updated

Same here.

Upgrading my iPad 2 I got that a bunch of times. I'm gonna try manually downloading the file and option-clicking to upgrade, because even in DFU mode I'm getting the same message.

None. Just weather and stocks. And you can disable either or both via Settings.

You shouldn't. Just change the iTunes account like you've been doing. The main iCloud account can act independent of iTunes itself.
