My battery life is worse. Yesterday the battery drained much faster with the same basic usage as before the update. This morning after only 20 minutes of a few texts, Tiny Tower, and browsing it was already down to 92%. Its my same morning ritual I do and it should have only taken it to 97-98%. I am charging it again and going to monitor it.
Something is making it drain wicked fast. My memory was all used up and apps weren't storing their state. They'd reload each time I went back to them. When I went to close the apps I only had a few open, so that confused me.
Like someone else said, iMessages may be a culprit. They seem to take more battery and really cause a lot of network interference with my speakers even though they should be using the WiFi. I'll have to keep monitoring them and see. I seem to be getting more network interference in general too though. Its really annoying. I can stop it by turning 3G on but I am on WiFi, I shouldn't have to do that, plus it really drains my battery.
EDIT: I tried to do a WiFi sync this morning while not charging, but it said it'd do it when my computer was available. Perhaps it did once I woke my computer up. If that's the case, damn that drains it.

I don't know that there is an easy way to do that like "download all history". I think you'll have to go download each one. You can bring up your purchase history through your account in the iTunes store to help.
Still, that doesn't make any sense. Your apps are gone from iTunes? I don't think the update can do that. Can you check your trash for them? If it were me, I'd be restoring them from a backup since that'd be easier and faster.
