Are there any games out there like the Army of Darkness castle defense game? You kinda spawn units on the left of the screen to meet enemies coming from the right.

Samurais vs Zombies is close, but not as fun as Army of Darkness.

Update on my Duet impressions: it's really, really fantastic. Devious, infuriating, and mesmerizing in the same way as Super Meat Boy and Super Hexagon are. It's the puzzle-reflex equivalent of Super Hexagon actually, with some of the maddening muscle-memory aspects of the "disappearing floating blocks" sections of old-school Mega Man games. And the chilled-out soundtrack is perfect. So, so worth the $3. I've only played through the scripted wave levels, but there's also two master-level waves that I have yet to even try, as well as an endless mode.

Apple can issue exeptions to that, it used to be 100 codes too, wasn't aware of the decrease. Anyways, not an ideal situation.

Hmmm its only ever been 50 since we started developing for iOS in mid 2009.

Any developer can purchase an unlimited amount of promo codes from apple directly. You pay apple's 30% cut, and ONLY the developer/company can do this.

Is there an easy mechanism to make such a purchase though? I'm not aware of anything through the developer dashboard that allows you to do that, and while I've heard of code purchases and issues that's only ever been for massive runs (like hundreds of thousands of codes).

You can gift games to people one at a time, effectively only paying the Apple cut, though the issue there is you have to be in the same country as the recipient.

Grabbed Swordigo the other day and really enjoy it. Feels like I'm nearing the end though. Anything else like this on the App Store?

So I've just tried Puzzles & Dragons for a bit, but I don't think I get it. What's the main goal?

There are quite a few different metrics and unlogical menus that make it very confusing, even with the long ass tutorial. Can someone explain it in a very basic way? I get that it's a match 3 puzzle, but that's probably the least interesting part of it all.

Device 6 is up on UK store, just downloaded it.
Just searched year walk and clicked on dev, game was at bottom of list.
Thanks for the heads-up. Also available on the BR store, not showing up on the search yet but I was able to find it through Simogo's dev page too.

Didn't follow any pre-release media this time aside from two music samples, looking forward to playing it.

I feel like I got my $4 worth just from the opening credits of Device 6.

edit: I cobbled together a really shitty OT just so we at least have a place to talk about this game.

Sometimes games aren't just entertainment, but a form of true Art.
Simogo excel in this, and Device 6 is once again a proof.

Since the first note and the splashscreen, I was sucked in...unsure if I was reading a wonderful book, playing a game or watching an awesome Hitchock thriller.

Great work with the OT btw...but I'll stay clear of anything till I complete the game fearing any whatsoever spoilers.

Cross-posting from the Developer-GAF thread, thought you guys might be interested:

I've been working on my first game, gyroboost, and it just went up on the App Store today!

Screens:
screen568x568.jpeg

screen568x568.jpeg

Its gameplay premise is pretty simple: You control an always-rotating ship which moves straight forward when touching the screen.

Features:

- 2 game modes:
- "collect": collect green orbs while the screen slowly gets filled by hazard
- "chase": flee from an enemy while simultaneously avoiding on-screen traps

- addictive and challenging gameplay for both casuals and core gamers
- Game Center support with Leaderboards
- progressively increasing difficulty
- neon-retro look with pixel-art graphics and pulsating lights
- chiptune soundtrack which increases in intensity when you manage to get a nice streak of orbs in "collect" or survive for a long time in "chase

Buy it here for 1 dollar/euro/swiss franc/whatever your currency is: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gyroboost/id711550731?mt=8

There's unfortunately one annoying bug that makes the game unresponsive after checking the leaderboards, I'm still looking into how to fix that.

I'd love to hear some feedback from you guys!

Also, there's 3 promo codes hidden in e-mail tags at the top of the post :)

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
When is that Terra Incognita clone coming out (Uematsu is making the music for it)? Anyone remember?

Oh god, Tiny Death Star has it's hooks in me already. One big difference I found from when I played Tiny Tower, if you deliver a Bitizens to a floor it reduces the restock time of that floor by 1m, makes sending them around in the lift actually useful. Plus if you don't want to do that you can send them to any imperial floor to lower the timer on those. Quite a nice little addition to keep you engaged in using the lift. Other than that it's pretty much the same sort of thing with a Star Wars theme. Not necessarily a bad thing.

played a bit of the new batman origins game. its pretty much that injustice ios game a while back. Gameplay is a bit basic, but great visuals and good animations. The 'wait times' are atrocious though and you are just batman so you don't have multiple teams to rotate between.

asphalt 8 is free
I bought this for 69p recently, and I was very surprised that I didn't hate it! Usually I really hate Gameloft games, and I dislike greedy IAP driven games, but this game has plenty of gameplay even without paying for anything. You'll probably hit the paywall after a while, but I was amazed at how much fun Asphalt 8 is. Recommended. :)

Douchebag. Yes, me.
While this kind of game normally doesn't attract me that much, mostly thanks to the heavy reliance on in app purchases and timerbased gameplay. Let's see how long I'll stick around this time :)

Heavy reliance on timers? Tiny Tower consisted of nothing but waiting for timers or paying to have them end.

Have they added any actual gameplay to the thing now?

Not actually that important
I must have logged in 30 hours already on Marvel Puzzle Quest
I have to say that as far as f2p games go this is the most "generous" I've ever played on iOS.
Still haven't spend a dime, having lots of fun. Too bad it looks like crap (besides the characters portrait/panel) and the whole thing sometimes feel suspiciously rigged vs AI exactly like previous PQ.
Still, the first PQ is still the best (rocked the DS version for like 150hours) but the Marvel paint on this one really helps in my enjoyment of the game, Versus mode and Weekly Featured Tournament are super addicting multiplayer modes, even if they aren't balanced matchmaking-wise. Really solid game, hopefully the final release (it's still on Beta, this one's marked as "Preview Edition") will see the, add more polish UI wise and make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing.

I got through the first Device6 puzzle earlier today.

This game and its format are amazing.

Wasn't a huge fan of Year Walk (didn't really get anywhere with it, to be honest), but this is really something else in terms of cleverness. Will keep playing, but if it keeps up the pace in terms of cleverness and writing, this might be one of my top contenders for game of the year.

Will try Marvel PQ. But those IAPs are INSANE!!! $50-100??!!!!! Crazy!!!

From IGN's review: Spending real money is unnecessary but the time advantageous are already apparent.

I hate F2P games. :(

does Device 6 require a lot of audio? Im usually listening to music/podcasts when playing a game or somewhere where I'd rather not have headphones in

been kinda addicted to that new batman game. the timers are ridiculous though. you burn through your meter in 15min, takes 2 hours to recharge it all.

Gotta say I'm loving tiny death star , whilst it is an exact clone of tiny towers I just love it's art and charm .

Whilst in never spent any money on tiny tower I want to in this just to support the devs.

Im liking disneys policy of farming starwars off to quality devs.
