Yet, in the latest tournament that was played, the sets from the top 10 players only contained 10% legendary cards (3 per player). I don't think you'll see much success from people who have decks filled with 3-of of only legendaries and heroics compared to more diverse and focused decks.

It's also fairly early into the release and that could be attributed to people just not having the legendaries to be played. I think once we have a few more tourneys and the results are shown to be consistent we can use this data point as an argument.

I think the number of legendaries, and their power level, is too highto be frank in Solforge. 18% of the set is legendary, and their drop rate is ludicrously low outside of the premium packs which cost £5 per pack. Additionally, too many of the legendaries just seem to be 'amazing card you will put in every deck' rather than specialised cards that fit well into some decks (which is what most of Magics equivalents are).

Just feels too pricey for me currently, and too much towards 'rarer is better'. I kick started for $100 as well so started with 60 or so normal boosters and only have 8 legendaries I think in total including the faction starters.

Legendaries are strong, no doubt, but they aren't must have cards in every deck. I posted earlier that I find some rare/heroic cards stronger than legendaries and I'm considering cutting them. I do wish we could purchase normal boosters with silver though as I find many of the heroic cards to be must-haves.

Don't worry my screen said CzarTim wins.

To those have SolForge issues I feel like maybe all the games are stuck right now. That's certainly the case for me.

I got a legendary from the daily reward basic pack yesterday. Felt good. :lol so as the game progresses, people will definitely get some.

Most underrated card IMHO is Darkshaper Savant (i think that's the one? Play a lower level card and opponent creatures gets -x/x). It's only a rare, not even a heroic, and it kicks all sorts of ass.

Yeah, none of my games work right now.

Pretty hilarious how they could fuck this up so bad.

edit: I really like how games vanish and then reappear later. I just went through and tested all my games (10ish) and as soon as I checked the last one, all but that last one vanished from my list, haha.

A lot of the Rares are I think some of the best cards to make up the meat of decks. Legendaries often combo off of non-Legendaries. Only Legendary I definitely wouldn't give up (and I have a ton of Robot ones) is Oracle, but even she's weak early on to Cull and other kill effects.

Eh, it's a beta so I can live with it. Kind of rough if they are selling pricey packs and things aren't working, but realistically the damn game is like 20% out so if you're spending money just to play randos in a beta that's totally legit but that's on you. Looks like September is when we'll get a realer release. Still glad to have the chance to play the game for real and burn all my KS money building a nice deck to use against said randos (when the game works).

Ehhh, SimCity mostly worked though.... it was just tiny and shitty. haha.

No, it didn't work. Servers were down for almost the entire launch week, and it was and still is buggy as hell.

Not to mention the missing features

There are 29 legendaries, so to get a full playset assuming you never get a duplicate would require buying 76 premium packs (at 1.15 legendaries per pack). That works out at 247000 gold, or $823 dollars. IF you get no duplicates of any legendary.

For equivalence sake, the last MTG expert set had 9 legendary cards in a playset of 166 cards, so 6% were ultra-rare rather than the 18% Solforge has. Additionally, a full playset including 4 of every card of that set would set you back $550 right now - and obviously you would be able to sell it on or trade it when you don't like it.

Don't get me wrong - I really like Solforge. I kickstarted from the start because Ascension is so good, and really enjoy playing it. But the pricing structure and the sheer number of ultra-rare cards is substantially out of line with other CCGs and will really hinder the game I think. It also feels quite greedy to be frank to have that many ultra-rare cards.

As soon as the Hex Alpha starts, we need to get some kind of list of who has it backed going.

Another one is the Technosmith, which is only a common. But not playing it in an Alloyin deck would be weird. Levelling up your cards "for free" is an extremely powerful power, which you discover in the late game playing Titan 3s after Titan 3s.

In fact, I'm not sure I would always play an Oracle instead of a Technosmith in a turn. It's just that good.

On Steam its 'Early Access' but I cant seem to find anything on iOS claiming that its still a beta. :p

Sure, but SolForge has been 'out' for a lot longer than a week. Also, I think a few more people were trying to play SimCity than SolForge :p

Anyway, forget SimCity, SolForge should work by now, or they should at least have something on their front page saying 'Hey! Sorry shit is broken right now, we're working on it' you have to go into their forums to find that stuff.

I really think you're overestimating the quality of legendaries.

Technosmith is solid, but don't forget that Oracle is once-per-turn. So as long as you survive Turn 1 (which you will save a Kill effect, which forces an opponent to waste a card and possibly more) you get the Technosmith benefit while also having a better damage sponge and the chance to continue to cash in. I used to run both, but Oracle is enough for me. Especially since I have 1x of that guy that lets you play free Robots. You can get into situations where you are leveling with two Oracles, playing a free robot, and playing two regular cards i.e., dumping and leveling your entire hand in a turn. This is why Robots are so tough to beat lategame.

I wouldn't say using a kill card on an oracle is "wasting it" though. Worst case, it's a kill card that also damages other card(s) you've played as well as killing your oracle.

But it is situational. If I don't have any good upgradable cards drawn, then it's a pretty easy decision to play an oracle instead of a techosmith. But if I had a titan (or a chrogie in an alloyin/uterra deck), then I would play the technosmith in a heartbeat. This because there's a good chance you won't get one of those nice upgradable cards next turn, and there's also a good chance that your oracle won't survice to be used twice (at least against players who know how good the oracle is).

Edit: that got me thinking... your strategy is obviously better against bad players, while I've been playing the hard AI too much who always pull out a kill card when I play the oracle. :)

Are anyone getting daily rewards today? I've yet to get the win reward (beat the AI several times), and I've played 4 online matches where the opponent has conceded when it's clear I'm winning. But no reward for online play either.

lol I'm going the pleb route with SolForge and hoping I can get enough daily rewards to play with you guys by the time this thing is out of beta. Game seems decent enough.

They just changed the daily rewards to first login, first win, and third win (not game). Probably a bug in the win checks when they changed the code.

Me too, I doubt I will ever put money into it, because thats a slippery slope for me and CCG/TCGs :p

FREE ALL THE WAY.

God, this Solfroge thing is hilarious. We all like the game, but the app/game is so broken it kinda kills interest in the game itself

Imagine Solforge if they had just stuck with Playdek.

Yeah....

Hoping it's just beta issues and not another Goko situation.

It cant be another goko situation since we're all hoping solforge turns it around. I mean, we've talked kinda positively about this for the last 300 posts. All we did about goko was say bad things for about 150 posts

Pretty good you think? Think again, there's also this:

No restriction to robots, not even creatures, AND he's stronger. And he's not even "level of card" restricted, like the Arcsquadron card is. wtf. talk about OP. The only drawback? At levels 1 and 2, your opponent gets the same benefit. So you might have to give him a handout twice. Or play it and kill it right off.

There's several other overpowered level 3 cards as well (hello Chrogias), but what they have in common is that they're mostly pretty naff on level 1 and 2.

So if you play 3 of them on level 1 and 2, you're going to get punished severely on those levels. But if you make it to level 3 without too many bruises and get them drawn, then you're in a good spot. But that's a big if.

I think of them as high risk/reward cards. Nice to have a few of them in your deck, but not something to base your deck on.

You do realize the rewards renew 22h after getting them last, not at midnight, right?

When I posted yesterday, it had been more than 30 hours since I got my last rewards.

Mostly stomping people in random matches (though the occasional losses are still quite interesting and eye-opening).

Maybe I've been lucky, but I'm losing more against the hard AI than against randoms online.

Yeah, Hearthstone is a ton of fun. I still think I'll end up quitting it because of the imbalances with paid for decks but so far it's a blast.

EZNARK (DWARVES) DEFEATS PRAY FOR DEATH (ELVES)

I forgot how ridiculous the dwarves can be against new players. Sorry, PFD!

Suddenly I am the worst Neuroshima Hex player in the world.

It's funny because about midway through I'm thinking I'm going to get trounced. Then I got all sniper happy and you couldn't do much about it...really set me up nicely! :)

GG, kind, sir.

Yeah I got kind of boned mid draw you were able to position those snipers in such a way that I essentially couldn't do a thing about it. Those fucking regenerating snipers are the worst.

Yes that is my favorite card.

I've only been playing 3 days and I got a rage born hellion legendary which is pretty good.

Not even sure how I got the standard pack. Some reward for something.

Haha I got decimated there. I don't know what I was thinking when I exposed my summoner at the beginning, but yeah, GG!

I have zero games on my list right now.

Ahh I totally had you confused with Mercviper!

The daily reward is silver plus either a single card, basic pack, normal pack or even a premium pack if you get really lucky. I mostly get basic pack, then cards, then some normal packs too. Never gotten lucky enough for a premium, although those are understandably more rare to get.
