So I'm now at 7% left after 6hrs,3mins usage and 15hrs,42mins standby since the last full charge. That is a huge improvement from before I made the settings changes described in my earlier posts. I made calls, watched video and played music in that time. I also texted a lot and checked email. The only thing I didn't do that I did a lot over the weekend was Siri. So either these settings worked very well or Siri is a huge battery hog lol.

This may be a dumb question, but this is my first smartphone. How do you transfer photos to your computer? I can't seem to find a heading for photos when I connect my phone. I use Windows btw.

Still waiting on Best Buy. COME ON.

Did you pre-ordere yours from them as well? I still haven't gotten mine, either. They said they'll call me.

I'm hoping I can cancel my pre-order if I do decide to get it from somewhere else.....or the Nexus unveiling tonight has me clamoring for that instead :p

I dunno about newer iphones (I have the 3G planning on upgrading to 4S) but connect your iphone and explore it in windows explorer, you should see them listed. its a simple copy and paste job then. I'm sure there is a way in itunes but I prefer doing it that way, less hassle.

Is there any way I can buy an iPhone and avoid having to pay sales tax? I can't think of anywhere online that both sells iPhones and doesn't charge tax. Strange that Amazon doesn't have much Apple stuff......

Is anybody getting this case?

Mophie Juice Pack Air

I know $80 is a lot of money for a case, but if you could get it for around $55, would you say it's a good buy?

It's either that or the SGP Linear Crystal Smooth White.
I have one.

I picked it up from an Amazon store for ~$40 a week back. The case feels solid and of course the extra battery is nice. The only problem is the volume and power buttons are kinda hard to press with the case on.

With your phone connected via the USB cable, open up My Computer and you should see a listing for Apple iPhone. If not, make sure the plug-n-play properly installed the apple drivers for your device.

From there, just navigate through the folders until you find the pictures, its maybe three levels deep. You can copy pictures off your device with this method, but you can not paste old pictures back on. Have to use iTunes photo syncing for that.

My contract with AT&T and their mobile service from 1992 is finally up in a month.
Who should I go with Sprint or Verizon? I live on the west coast.

If you live in a populated enough area and tend to spend the majority of your time there, I'd go with Sprint simply because their pricing is better and they offer unlimited data. Network may not be as good, but if money and 4G (which they ARE getting soon) is a big factor for you, I'd do that. If you want 4G and generally really good coverage and don't care about being nickel and dimed to death, go Verizon.

I'm a Verizon customer, by the way.

Am I the only person that finds myself holding the phone the "wrong" way when using it in landscape? I've always held it so that the home button is on the right (easier to access it with my right hand), but it's apparent (first #sworcery would auto-rotate that way and now the camera obviously needs to be that way to use the volume/shutter button) that I'm supposed to hold it the other way.

Just an observation really. I'm so used to looking at the home page text/icons in landscape that way that my brain finds it hard to identify things the other way. :p
I like to hold it the "wrong" way when I play games without a headphone because that way my hand doesn't cover the speaker (when I hold it the "right" way my left hand mutes the speaker when I'm playing with two thumbs).

Same here. It's not a problem if all you do is browse Safari and watch videos, but it's pretty jarring now that I'm finally getting back into iOS gaming.

Anyone find it odd that the app switcher doesn't re-orient in landscape mode? It wouldn't' take up any extra room to just rotate the icons down there like how the Photos app handles it when you turn the phone.

That's great to know thanks man. Sounds like I might go with sprint.

Any other Verizon 4S users out there? How are you liking it so far?

Right here. Lovin' my 32GB.

My first foray into the smartphone world, so I don't have any past experiences to compare it to (besides occasionally fooling around with my friends Android phones). It's nice having something to occupy myself during the duller moments of my workday. Downloads are usually pretty quick (where I need them, at least) and service is usually pretty reliable.

Getting a feel for how the Siri works. Still not sure whether or not its a true gamechanger or just a gimmick with too many features that won't get used. Time will tell, though.

I'm really concerned about the battery life on my Sprint 4S. Never have I had an iPhone die twice in two days on me and I decided to turn Siri off and a bunch of iCloud backups.

Anyone using a portable battery charger they can recommend?

Those Mophie Juice Packs that people have referenced recently seem to do the trick if battery life is a major concern.

Me...well I have chargers pretty much everywhere. At my bed, in the living room, in my car, at my desk at work. I don't NEED to charge my phone all over the place, but it's good to know that I've got juice wherever I'll need it if I need it.

There is something really wrong with the battery life on the 4s. I don't know if this is software or hardware but it hasn't been this bad on an iphone for me before.

After four days of use I can say that my iPhone has no battery charge issues. It requires a daily charge with my "normal" use, neither more or less than my previous iDevices.

If something is wrong, it may be with particular phones or, more ominously, particular services.

Wow, if 4S users are honestly having to resort to switching off Siri to achieve decent battery life than I am very happy that I opted not to pick this up.

It's most likely an issue with his service being shoddy in certain areas, and the iPhone having to work harder to keep Siri service online.

It's not that bad, but I would say based on my experience so far that it seems to drain 10-15% faster than my 3GS did over the course of the day.

I have chargers everywhere so it's no big deal, but I do hope they figure out a way to address this with a software update. But perhaps it's just the nature of the A5 coupled with a battery of this size.

They aren't. It sounds like there is a crop of phones out there that are behaving awkwardly in regards to battery life, however.

My phone feels pretty much identically to my old iPhone 4 in terms of battery life.

Mine is sitting on my desk playing a podcast; it's not discernably warm.

Combo breaker?

Sister adopted a new rat yesterday that was recently abandoned at the local animal shelter. Had a large tumor that needed to be removed, but she seems to be doing well now.

Damnit... I just realized that one of my speakers don't work.

I was using speakerphone and accidentally covered one of the speakers, no sound came out of the other one.

:(

Considering switching again... to AT&T.

Their plan is very counter productive for me.

Found out that friends and family doesn't count Puerto Rico Number.

God damn that camera is amazing.

After a bit of a rigmarole with UPS, I finally got my Verizon iPhone 4S delivered to my workplace. Can't wait to get the hell off of AT&T!

It's not broken, the other "speaker" is the microphone you speak into it.

Also YAY finally for custom text tones. I have the TNG door chime set up as mine :)

Just wanted to say that my iPhone 4S on AT&T finally works on 3G during lunchtime here in NYC. I'm amazed.

Every day I need to turn off 3G to EDGE or else I get no data. EDGE was better than nothing.

Now, it's extremely fast in comparison. Very impressed. Let's hope this isn't a unique occurance.

I finally got around to hooking up my iPhone to my car's bluetooth system yesterday and when I used Siri in the car, I was surprised to hear her speak over the speaker system. Pretty cool!
