It's kinda sad that Siri don't understand anything when I talk in French (my native language), but can answer everything I ask her in English (wit my awful accent). Eh. :P

I have the same exact problem.

So, I know the 4S just came out, but I sort of have a question about the next iphone. I currently have a wp7, my first smartphone, but the ecosystem of the app store isn't developing as quickly as I thought it would, especially when it comes to games. So, there is a strong possibility that I may switch to an iphone for the first time when my contract is up next year.

My question is, what are the chances that the next iphone will have ar least a 4 inch screen, lte, and possibly nfc? Are these things too much to expect from the next iteration, or reasonable?

What the heck am I doing wrong? I think Siri is glitched or something.

The very 1st day I got my phone I was able to tell Siri to read my newest text message out loud.

I didn't try it again until somewhat recently and now she dosn't seem to be able to do it at all. My phone is up to date and it didnt work before or after the update.

When I get a new text message and ask her to read it she says:

"Read or reply to text message" and if I ask her to read it she just keeps repeating "Read or reply to text message" without actually reading the text :(

is this a known glitch? anyone else having this problem?

Really tempted to throw $400 right now and get a 64gb iphone. Just conflicted as an android fanboy =/.

I have a ton of music I want to carry with me. My iPod touch died a little while ago and android's music player and google music aren't working for me. Plus I loved the bike plus integration when I still had my touch. Help gaf. I dunno what to do.

hate to say it but for the first time I'd say go for it because 64gb is how much you should have given that videos are 1080p and pics are whatever res 8mp is it'll eat up space fast especially with all that music

People actually go that high? I'm sitting at 40%

Yep. Retina screen is too nice for me to lower the brightness down by that much.

I only reduce it if I know I won't be able to charge the phone for a good amount of time.

Not true overall, I directly compared another my 4S to another 4S.
My 4S was way more yellow where the other one was much more like the 3GS.

It's a well known phenomenon, with the binding agent they use not evaporating completely when the phone is constructed and packaged up. The yellow tint will fade away after a few days.

People were half expecting those things MINUTES before for the 4s reveal, asking MONTHS before the next reveal isn't going to give you anything worthwhile. :p

The Width of the iPhone box is exactly the same as the Width of the screen.

Has anyone with a sprint phone tested to see if the sim is still unlocked? Apparently the November 11 lock only applies to folks who activate after that

My battery life has been atrocious since the upgrade. =/ Is there was way to go back?

I haven't upgraded yet because I was worried about this. My battery life is awesome and I'm having no problems. Not keen to update to a firmware that's giving some people issues just to get a few fixes that I don't need. I know I'll have to eventually, but maybe I'll hold out until the next one.

Mine went from 6 hours usage to 9 hours on a full charge. So, for me the update was great.
The problem seems to be that Apple hasn't quite nailed down the bug. So while many users with battery problems saw massive improvements, others are still dealing with the issue; and a few users who didn't have the problem initially saw it occur after the update.

Something's wrong with the cellular data usage counter on my brother's phone. It's showing ~30GB but Verizon's website is showing ~30MB. What gives? It's accurate on my 4S but not on his. We haven't even had the phones for a month so how is it possible to even download 30GB over 3G in less than a month's time?
So my brother reset his usage yesterday, did practically nothing on his phone and today this is what his usage shows:

welps, t-mobile wouldn't give me a iphone cause i had no credit history (well i do have some, but apparently i don't now).

god everything is terrible

My friend did a siri test and asked for a movie with a happy ending and got massage locations listed. lol.

My wife's new 4s (and white too. I have gadget envy since I have a black iPhone 4) does not like her. At least Siri doesn't. It says "that is a rather insensitive thing to say" to many requests.

I am weak. White or Black?
White is the new sexy color. Yes, I hate that my wife has a white 4s and I have a black iPhone 4. I hate gadget envy. She wanted the black one, but all they had was white. It is gods way of punishing me.

Im at 2 hours 42 minutes of usage with 22 hours of standby and I only have 33% of my battery left. Thats not playing any games or apps besides the web browser and phone calls. Also, my battery drains after it hits 100% on occasion even though it is still plugged in. My phone's battery sucks and I'm contacting Verizon tomorrow for a new one.

got myself an unlocked 4s and moving to the bay area.
which carrier/plan should i go with?
AT&T is actually your only option. Neither sprint nor verizon will accept that unlocked 4s and tmobile can only provide data over Edge. There are prepaid options but the viability of that depends on how much data and how many minutes you plan on using a month else it could end up more expensive than a postpaid plan.

Has she tried a hard reset. Siri decided to ignore me for a while, I rebooted and she learned her lesson.

So how much is it total on the online Apple Store?

16 Gb: $199
AppleCare+: $99.00
Sales Tax: ?
Shipping: I see free 5 day, how much is something quicker?

Do you pay for both of these?:
AT&T Activation Fee: $36
AT&T Upgrade Fee: $18

Don't get the AppleCare+ unless you're accident prone. It's a waste of money unless you know for sure you'll break it within the two years.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed too much already, but how are your batteries holding up GAF? I really need a new phone, but I keep reading on several Dutch forums that the average standby time is around eight hours. And that the recent update really didn't improve battery life all that much. This is important to me. If I'm out to buy a phone for the first time (I always got a free phone with contract renewal) I want to make sure it has a decent battery life. Or maybe it's because people don't know they have to 'train' their battery? Like fully charge it the first couple of times, and drain it empty all the way, and charge it again?

isn't there only 1 version of the phone now?
is it a technical problem or a policy thing?
it's a technical decision, or problem if you will, on Apple's end that the iPhone does't work on T-Mobile. It's a policy decision made by the other carriers that an unlocked iPhone wont work across AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.

That's fine man, $99 is actually quite a lot of dough for "insuring" a $199 phone, it's just that your passion surprises me; maybe I'm just an apathetic bastard.

I am.

Is At&T's Mobile Insurance program serious?
http://www.att.net/s/editorial.dll?...k=&ch=smartcontrol&cat=smct&serviceTopic=2022

$6.99 per month and a $199 deductible per claim. 2 claims a year.

Apple makes you pay an additional $50 service fee on top of the $99 if you ever use it. Plus you only get two claims over two years. AT&T covers loss and theft and Apple doesn't. It only costs $199 to repair the phone without the extended warranty and you get a year anyway automatically with the phone that covers everything but accidental damage. The $99 isn't worth it unless you definitely break it and even then you only save $50.

What?

I'm worried about accidental damage. The 1 year standard doesn't cover that.

-Twice in two years with Apple Care plus it costs:
99$ up front + $50 per claim for a total of $200.

-Twice in two years with At&t Mobile Insurance it costs:
$167 in monthly fees + 199 per claim for a total of $565.

I'm not saying AT&T is better in value but at least it covers other things that Apple doesn't. I don't think either are worth it to be honest. How often have you broken your phone in the past? Do you always break it at least once every contract? The second you don't break your phone within two years, you've already spent more money than just paying the non-insured fee.
