True. Based on initial pre-orders I would expect LONG lines on Friday. 5am or bust.PhoncipleBone said:When Stumpokapow, the most moderate and level headed of mods, uses just "lol" as a response, take it very seriously.
If you are going to go to an Apple store, go VERY early. Three hours is not enough.

I ordered Friday AM, and the order page at Apple says Delivered 10.14, but still in "processing".Gary Whitta said:My order is now Preparing for Shipment on apple.com!

Snkfanatic said:Hmm so reading my confirmation email from Verizon and a email I had with a service rep it sounds like they won't ship it till Friday? I was thinking I would get it on Friday...that is a bit of a disappointment considering I won't see it till Monday then more than likely.

There's this which my cousin who works at Apple recommended to me:SRidge52 said:Is there/will there be a "portable charger" for the iPhone 4S? Like a battery I can charge at home, then take it with me and connect it to my iPhone to charge it when the battery is low?

I called the Apple Store today and was told it's going through certification with NZ's equivalent of the FCC and that no concrete date has been set.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I only see one battery pack compatible for the iPhone 4 on Monoprice. And it has no reviews so it makes me a little weary...LCfiner said:those already exist. check out the portable iphone batteries packs out there on monoprice. I think the richard solo battery isnt bad, either. they all just plug into the dock.
some companies make cases with built in batteries like the mophie juice pack.
Weird. I'd have thought that NZ wouldn't be too different to Australia and we're getting it at the same time (roughly) as the US. Maybe ordering from here (if you're going outright) might be the best option, provided tax doesn't come into it.Seagoon said:I've been waiting for ages for the launch of the next iPhone, it finally hits and I find New Zealand completely omitted from any mention of getting it. I live in the East Bay and work in San Francisco for reference.
Only AppleCare+ has accidental damage coverage. The standard AppleCare that comes with your phone is a limited warranty.Eric WK said:Is there any accidental damage coverage out of the box or only with Applecare+? I was hoping their would be 90 days or something so I don't have to buy a Lifeproof case right away.

i couldn't preorder one online because of AT&T shenanigans, so i was going to head into manhattan early friday morning and pick one up. stores open at 8 (i figure the UWS store might be the least crowded early on a weekday). what's the possibility that i'll get out of there with a phone?
much love to my applegaf nyc peeps for any thoughts!
I'm definitely going for a clear case to preserve the overall look and colors of the iPhone... and I think this is, so far, the frontrunner.StrikerObi said:I hardly ever drop my phone, but I'm too paranoid to not have a case. Actually, I went naked for about a week and a half when I first got my 3GS while I was waiting for my new case to arrive. As expected, I dropped the 3GS while waiting for the case to arrive. To make it worse, I dropped it on rough asphalt. I got lucky though, the only damage it suffered was a slight scuff on the chrome bezel (which the case covered up).
From what I hear, the 4 is more slippery than the 3GS, so this time I have ordered a case in advance.
For those looking for minimal protection, check out the case I got, the iSkin Claro.

The most important thing for me is that the case is a soft, rubbery one. I like rubbery cases because they provide lots of extra grip for the phone, which makes it much more difficult to drop. Because of that, I don't need to worry about it being too protected, since the chances of me dropping it are pretty slim.
I use a similar case from iSkin on my 3GS right now and I love it.
