Anyone else who ordered through Verizon's site getting a "we had technical difficulties processing your order" when you try to check the status? I was wondering if I need to be paranoid and actually contact them or if this is normal. I received the standard confirmation email.

I looked up the early termination fee for AT&T and it's $325 minus $10 a month of the contract. It'd cost me $185 to cancel and then sign up for Sprint or Verizon.. and $268 extra to upgrade to a 4S now. Someone explain to me their thought process.

I want that new camera and 64 GB, grr. :(

Still no tracking info or any update from Verizon. Not surprising consider I haven't heard any reports of other people getting one, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

$50, huh? Looks like there's no way around spending too much money on a case. Not only that, but the first user review talks about how the grey one is actually green? That'd be the one I'd go with, so I'd hate to order it and end up in the same boat.

If you're going to spend $50 on a case, I don't see why you wouldn't spend $70 and get a Lifeproof.

Wow, I ordered my white iPhone 4S yesterday around noon from Sprint and got a tracking number overnight.

I didn't expect to get it this Friday/Saturday at all. I'll be so glad to finally get rid of my Palm Pre.

So is Siri coming to iPad 2? I will be pissed if not, before people were saying it needed 1GB and that is why it would be iPhone 4S only.
I read some doubts about it; not due to the A5, but because the iPad microphone is much worse than the 4 or 4S and so the distortion might make Siri less precise picking up words.

I really appreciate cases like this, but my whole deal is that I actually want to forego a case completely, but realize that it would be stupid not to have at least some sort of protection. These super bulky cases are just not for me.

Siri worked just fine on iPad before Apple pulled it from the store.

I don't know why so many black iPhone fans are wishing they'd gone white (Whitta!). For me, there's no contest. I've owned and enjoyed white electronics before, but the white iPhone doesn't suit me at all. It just feels a bit too Paris Hilton. Not that I'm judging those who prefer it - it's a beautiful device - just my association. I love the back of the black phone so much more as well. It's all subjective, but I'm surprised almost everyone who pre-ordered went white.

I really wanted the White iPhone, and I waited almost 6 months for one, but push came to shove and I needed one for a trip I was taking, so I had to settle for black.

If I could walk into an Apple store, drop $50 on the table and my current iPhone, and walk out with a white iPhone, refurb if necessary, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Whether it'd be 700 or 800MHz, is that the maximum locked clock speed or can it reach 1GHz if needed?

I hardly doubt it can reach anything higher because it was checked with a proper benchmark (not browser benchmark and other stupid shit) which almost always throttle the tested parts to the max.

iPhone 3GS ~600MHz (one Cortex-A8 core) and 256MB ram
iPhone 4 ~800MHz (one Cortex-A8 core) and 512MB ram
iPhone 4S 700-733MHz (two Cortex-A9 cores) and 512MB ram
iPod Touch 3rd ~600MHz (one Cortex-A8 core) and 256MB ram
iPod Touch 4th ~800MHz (one Cortex-A8 core) and 256MB ram
iPad1 1000MHz (one Cortex-A8 core) and 256MB ram
iPad1 ~900MHz (two Cortex-A9 cores) and 512MB ram

Somebody pointed me in the direction of this case, which seems to provide some protection without compromising the look of the phone. I'm putting it on standby in case I don't feel comfortable with just the pouch I'm picking up.

This may have been posted already, but here is how to look up your tracking number if your order still says "preparing for shipment".

Go to ups.com, and click the "tracking" menu at the top. Select "track by reference". In the reference field, enter your phone number (no punctuation, so if your number is (123)456-7890 you should just enter 1234567890). You don't need to enter anything else. If your order has Ben shipped, it should pull up the tracking info, and then you can copy the tracking number for future use.

Note: this worked for the order I placed via apple.com for an AT&T iPhone 4S, 32GB. I ordered it around 7AM eastern on the 7th (via the iOS app, but that probably doesnt matter). I've heard it works for those that ordered directly from the mobile companies too, but obviously I can't confirm that. Also, if your order hasn't shipped yet, then it obviously won't work. It didn't work for me yesterday, but it did this morning. I still have not received a confirmation email from apple stating that my order has shipped and my order status on apple.com still says "preparing for shipment" even though it has shipped.

P.S. I hate you, Germans that are getting their orders 4 days early.

Has anyone received a shipping email from Apple.com yet?

I feel like if it's still in China right now it should've been shipped already if it's going to arrive on Friday.

Contract on ATT for my 3gs is up, cant decide if I want to switch carriers or not for the 4s. What to do!
Do you still have unlimited data for $30 from AT&T? If so, keep AT&T. I've had an iPhone since the original launch, and the unlimited data carries over forever until you decide to change your data plan. Based on that, I'll be on AT&T for awhile. Also, only AT&T's network can take advantage of the HSPA+ speeds that iPhone 4S can do.

I think the general rule of thumb (if you aren't grandfathered into unlimited data) is to look at your phone use. Are you a heavier caller? In that case, Verizon is probably your best bet since their network is wider. If you are a heavier data user, AT&T can offer higher speed connections plus the ability to talk and use data at the same time without wifi. Of course, this assumes that neither network has serious issues in your area. If that is the case, that will obviously affect your decision.

Also, if you don't have but really want unlimited data, you might want to look at Sprint.

See my post two posts above on how to look up your shipping info directly on UPS. Apple is just being lazy about getting shipping emails out promptly.

They'll probably be leaving china tonight, getting to the US tomorrow, and then getting from the US to your house over the next two days. They'll be on time. The same thing happened when I ordered my 3GS two years ago. It felt like it would never make it, but I got it on launch day here in Florida just fine.

Yeah I have unlimited data on ATT, although I could be fine with the limited data as most places im at have wifi, and I only have the minimum amounts of minutes. I was thinking about switching to sprint because they have that unlimited everything package and its cheaper than what I currently pay on ATT. I just dont know how sprint performs in the Columbus area, ATT is fine, but if sprint is just as good and cheaper, seems silly not switch.

I got an equivalent for the 4 from Belkin or Griffin.. forget. It was one of the cases they gave us for free due to the deathgrip issue. I have a black phone and it's like a charcoal type color that is slightly translucent. I've always been fairly happy with it but the corners snapped very easily... there is not a lot of life in them if you actually drop the phone itself.

I thought Apple uses FedEx for all their shipments, how did you find out it's UPS now?

It's not very bulky.

That's a damn shame. I hope a white iPhone comes your way eventually. As I said, I totally get the appeal of the white phone; I'm just surprised there aren't more of us in the black camp.

I guess they changed for this shipment. All I know is I can find my order via UPS reference search, and not FedEx. There's no way that the tracking info I got from UPS could be for anything other than my iPhone. I have no outstanding orders anywhere except for my new iPhone case, which I have separate tracking info for, and is coming from Canada. This order I looked up via reference is from Hong Kong. It's gotta be my 4S.

After all the drama, my Sprint.com order finally has a tracking number! This was very unexpected, to me at least. There's no information in the tracking page but at least it's something. Strangely, my status on Sprint's site remains unchanged and it says the order is still processing. Anyone get this also?

It will, unfortunately in the form of the iPhone 5, which I'm sure they'll change enough that I hate it, especially if they make the screen bigger, then I'm back at square one, as the 4S will be down to the "cheapie" status by then, and likely not available in the capacity I want.

Apple's delaying the White iPhone 4 ten months is one of their biggest cockups ever in my book.

Hopefully AT&T activates my upgrade around the 18 month mark so I have time to pick up a 4S before the 5 comes around.

Good to hear, still waiting for mine for Verizon lol

On the order status page it simply lists my tracking number. My tracking number has no info other than it being created and ready for shipment (2nd Day Air). I'm assuming that's the same for you. In any case, it looks like you're all set for a delivery on time.

Yeah that's how it lays, currently. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the next few days and hoping you all get yours on time as well.

I dont like the black sensor bar on the white iPhone. If it was hidden like on the black version, I would have got the white in an instant.

Unfortunately, that seems to be one of the concessions that had to be made in order to create the white glass.

Verizon just charged my bank for the phone finally. Also checking my order number now brings up a drop box for the tracking number that says it will deliver by Friday....WOOO happy day

Ordered three from Apple.com at 6 am last Friday. Two white 16GB models shipped yesterday and have left Anchorage, AK as of this morning. The 32GB white left HK late last night and is en route to Anchorage.

I feel sure that we are all going to get them on Friday with the occasional early delivery and some agonizing just-missed-the-truck stories.

**I love the Deliveries app!

Finally got to pre-order my iP4s yesterday. I'm on a corporate account family plan and my Dad's ATT guy was out of town Friday. Why they didn't save some first batch phones for him for orders on Monday is beyond me. Oh well, I've still got my 3Gs to use for now.

Ordered a Black 32gb.

MY UPS PAGE HASN"T UPDATED.

damn you sprint.

I would certainty hope that sprint wouldn't be dumb enough to have the phones shipped to them and then they ship them to users.

Because that would be idiotic.

All you people with tracking numbers are making me jealous. I'm waiting for an email to tell me it's shipped (and it'll arrive the next day) - I can't even create an account without the SIM... which I won't have until the phone arrives. :'(

Tell ATT you are thinking about cancelling and see if they will move up your upgrade date? Unless you are hell bent on switching providers.
