when you grow older you are exposed to other races and then your tastes expand.

I think the answer lies in both physical and social reasons.

Right now, we don't really know enough about the brain. This discussion isn't just a race thing, it's about aesthetics in general. Why are MOST people (of any race) just average usually? The best psychologist can give us now is "facial symmetry", and while I'm sure thats a factor, their has to be a reason why some people would have a fetish for one type of person, and absolute disgust for another.

With that said, I think it's worth noting that Africa is a very diverse continent, and not just in the split between North African Arabs and Black Africans, but within Black Africa as well. Black Africa is the most genetically and culturally diverse region on earth. Most of the time, when you hear people talk about "black folks" their really just talking about African Americans/Jamaicans/Dominicans etc etc etc because diaspora blacks have gotten more spotlight.

^^^ Might not see a lot of Americans that look like this, but they are just as black as anyone else.

There wasn't that much variety in the ethnicity of women in area that I grew up in. I would say stuff like "I don't like white girls" and stuff like that. Once I got to see the rest of the catalog though, my opinions changed.

I go to a college that's practically all white, I'm sure many of you do too and it's obviously why. I don't see them, and it's very well documented that they are commonly excluded from these kinds of things because of social class. I'm not being mean about it, and I'd really like it if it was the other way around. It's simply the lack of opportunity, not some racial stereotyping as you guys are insinuating.

I go to a college that is majority white and I certainly don't think the same "unique" way you do.

Having said that, I'm attracted to ANY attractive woman regardless of her skin colour.

Tastes change as you get older too. I used to actively avoid Asian women when I was younger, I just never found them attractive for whatever reason.

As I've gotten older, I'm really looking at them differently now. I'm married now anyway so that ship has sailed either way.

I'm actually not that attracted to white girls in general. Part of it is biology, in that people with lighter features are usually more attracted to people with darker features, but part of it is that white girls are crazy. My last three girlfriends have been black, Indian, and Mexican.

Only advice I can give is if you're into black girls (and white), just go to clubs/bars that are mostly 'white'. If you spot a black girl (asian, Indian, latina, whatever), they're probably at least open to the idea of being with a white guy. Also, the fastest way to crash and burn, per an ex-girlfriend, is to make them think you only want to get with them because of sexual curiosity. :lol

It goes the other way too. I live in a place where (according to wikipedia) over 80% of population are blondes. I think they should be the pinnacle of european standard of beauty or something but to be honest it get's a bit tedious after a while.

White chicks with blue eyes and really dark hair are usually the ones that stand out the most to me. Something to do with the contrast of dark hair on pale skin just sets me off. Blondes are one of my least favorite for this reason.

east asian(esp. japanese)

Again though, that's just how long it takes them to catch my eye. I might think a blonde or a black chick is the hottest woman I've ever seen, I'm just less likely to notice her immediately. I see a reasonably hot chick in one of those top few categories and it immediately sets off my hot chick radar, even if after further inspection she's really not all that hot comparatively. I would say it's changing. Over here in the UK i've seen loads of black women and white men going out with each other.

Also, about the church thing, I'm lucky because at my church which is mostly black there are white, latin and asian people. There's even a married white male/black (half white) female couple with kids. So we're a pretty accepting bunch.

Lol. I think that attitude is one of the reasons why American Blacks don't get along with a lot of Africans. Unless they are wearing the traditional garb of their country, in America they are black just like anyone else. For example, if anyone saw the second from the last woman walking down the street, they'd later say, "I saw this fine black chick today." It doesn't matter how much they'd like to think they are superior or are differentiated from the rest of the lowly negroes, you are black in the eyes of nonblacks.
